Over the last year, Melania and her team have been quietly negotiating a new ‘postnup’ agreement between herself and Donald Trump.” The source further said, “This is at least the third time Melania has renegotiated the terms of her marital agreement,” but the source added that it’s not because the former first lady is going anywhere. “Melania is most concerned about maintaining and increasing a substantial trust for their son, Barron"....

As well she should.
I'm reading "Melania Trump ‘quietly’ renegotiated prenup with Donald ahead of potential second presidential term, legal woes: sources" (Page Six).

I need a team.
Wise. The left may very well bankrupt Donald. It's certainly a goal.
Smart lady.
inquiring minds >> are they still sleeping nekkid together?
I don't understand the concept of the "post-nup." How can that be a valid contract? "Staying married" can't be consideration. Anyway, if this is really about trust funds for Melania's children, why doesn't she just withhold sex until he agrees to pay up like any normal wife?
Good luck protecting Trump family assets from the Biden crime family's enforcers.
"It's better to renegotiate an adjacent agreement than a marriage." Sources.
A prenuptial agreement during a marriage? Unlikely.
Losing may bankrupt Trump.
At least it won't be as bad the Roman Coliseum.
Is it still a "prenup" if (re)negotiated after they are married?
Protect the Prince in the Tower in case the King goes down. I wouldn't trust anyone not to go full Richard III.
Renegotiating a prenup is a new level of nagging.
She is being prudent. The fbi and the democrats will go after Baron next.
“Renegotiating a prenup is a new level of nagging.“
Renegotiating, by agreement, is the opposite of nagging.
This should't have much effect on the rights of Trump's creditors. More on the rights of his other heirs.
What's Trump's incentive to renegotiate? That's where nagging comes in.
Renegotiating your prenup is like updating your will.
Donald and Melania in an old interview talked about how easily they always got along, they never argued, always have had a good relationship. She just says what she wants, there is a negotiation, very simple.
I have heard that men prefer women who say what they want directly. If it's reasonable I don't see the need for nagging, that's just disrespect on both sides. Trump is always accused of being a mysogynist but IMO this arrangement seems like the opposite of mysogyny.
Seems wise.
Sounds like she's been reading up on the art of Protecting the Downside:
"It’s been said that I believe in the power of positive thinking. In fact, I believe in the power of negative thinking. I happen to be very conservative in business. I always go into the deal anticipating the worst. If you plan for the worst—if you can live with the worst—the good will always take care of itself."

Sure it is. It's valuable for Trump to stay married. It's likely valuable to her as well. Given the target on his back it may be the case that he has to get divorced as a way for her to keep any assets.
She wants to renegotiate to ensure that Barron is protected. When they got married and signed the pre-nup Barron didn't exist.
He would want to negotiate a package that makes her happy so that she stays but no so tempting that she would leave prematurely.
When you are talking about Billions of dollars of assets (or 18million if you are a NY judge) you get the teams involved and they hash it out.
Art of the Deal.
Dave Ramsey has talked about pre-nups as being valuable for the marriage because it provides for a way for the "poorer" spouse to quash any advice they get from broke 2nd cousins. "Sorry I have a pre-nup, can't leave him".
In this case I think it's a way to shelter assets in case he has to go to prison. PR wise they get to look at it as a "renegotiating" a pre-nup because she's pissed, which of course the media will eat up with a spoon.

The thing is I can see Melania being worried about that. But I don't think Trump cares. Maybe he does for Barron because he's still a kid, but I don't think Trump would take a dive for Eric or Don Jr. for example.
Renegotiating, by agreement, is the opposite of nagging.
Exactly. If we were talking about 100k they could sit down over a nice bottle of wine (or Diet Coke since Trump doesn't drink) and come to an agreement, amicably.
Because we are talking about Billions with a B, it gets labeled "renegotiating", but it's the same thing. They just need a team of lawyers to dot the i's and cross the t's.
Amazing how one anonymous source can be so widely believed, with motives and readings applied at will.
Trump himself re-negotiated prenups with both his previous wives, according to the Mary Jordan biography of Melania. Each wife was left very dissatisfied and trying to break the result when they finally divorced. But in the Megyn Kelly interview Trump seemed very fond of Melania, and even Jordan reported "none could recall hearing him say anything negative about" her.
“What's Trump's incentive to renegotiate?”
Happiness. Every married happy woman wants her man to be happy. In fact, typically she wants to feel that she is the primary source of his happiness. Even if she’s sexually obsessed with him, a happy marriage includes shared regular review and rational reasonable renegotiations which frequently lead to synergistically satisfying sexual love. Or at least a darn good shared nap.
"“What's Trump's incentive to renegotiate?”"
Not to be an arse. She sees the state coming after him, he should protect her from it if possible.
She could just divorce him now I expect if he wants to be an arse about it, and let the biden fbi take her and baron down as well.
It's not quiet if there is a story about it.
Lay people probably think that the prenup/postnup agreements deal, in part, with sex. Jackie O supposedly had to put out for Aristotle a certain number of times per month.
“ What's Trump's incentive to renegotiate?”
She could go rogue. She could tell all. But he needs her to at least perform creditably as a good political spouse. Maintain her appearance, not cry or show contempt in public, attend events.
All this talk of Melania making implied threats is erasing her actual record, which is a very involved participant in her husband's work. Per the Jordan biography she is clearly a close advisor.
Meade wins the thread, Althouse.
“She could go rogue.“
None of Trump’s wives have gone rogue.
With Melania’s experience (and her family’s experience) with commies in Eastern Europe, she’s probably the greatest of Trump’s MAGA supporters.

Or Trump's incentive may also be to provide better financial security for Barron. Do you have reason to believe that Trump does not fully support the changes to their legal agreement other than the wording in a tabloid report?
Make me like Melania and Trump more. This is probably foreplay to him. A wife who knows the art of the deal.
Note that the other kids are well set in life, maybe except Tiffany. So protecting Baron may be Dad’s goal too. And at 77 Dad is not in the hunt for other women’s love. He just enjoys having an intelligent woman he respects and cares for.
As for a consideration for the Agreement, we routinely did Reconciliation Agreements to keep the wife of a rich man from leaving him. It worked like a stipulation of Divorce settlement terms IF he does it again.
Being a Calvinist Presbyterian, Trump trusts in The Providence of God, especially at his age.
You mean the gorgeous and well-mannered former First Lady that no magazine put on its cover as they did with Mike Obama?

interesting contrast between Meade [happy marriage] vs Althouse [I can destroy you]

Exactly, just like Sara Palin did. I hope she goes rogue. We need to know the truth.
"We need to know the truth."

About Donald Trump's marriage. Even though Melania has demonstrated absolutely no effort or intention to influence any aspect of Trump's political or policy positions, and there has not been even the slightest whiff of personal scandal within the Trump family since he became President.
Of course "we" do. Because "we" don't like Donald Trump, so everything and anything connected with him must be trampled on, hacked to pieces, and scattered to the four winds.
Like Sarah Palin, now that you mention it.
Why would she want to leave or "go rogue"? Her market cap is nil at this point.
Much better to get a sizeable chunk firmly in her name before it all starts shooting out the other side of the fan.
I suppose this is just a matter of directing a big chunk or two to land where she wants them.
"With Melania’s experience (and her family’s experience) with commies in Eastern Europe ..."
Could someone explain this comment? I have no idea what her experience was in Yugoslavia.
"inquiring minds >> are they still sleeping nekkid together?"
Do you really believe they ever have?
"What's Trump's incentive to renegotiate?"
The secrets Melania could reveal.
"You mean the gorgeous and well-mannered former First Lady that no magazine put on its cover as they did with Mike Obama?"
Each to his own. I find Melania completely unattractive. But then, many so-called "beautiful" women possess the same kind of hard, severe (allegedly) "glamorous" look as Melania. I hate that look. (This is no comment or criticism on her character, personality or manners, about which I have zero knowledge.)
"Being a Calvinist Presbyterian, Trump trusts in The Providence of God, especially at his age."
I am completely baffled by any adults who actually think Trump possesses any sincerely felt religious beliefs or feelings. I have no religious beliefs, so I don't express my skepticism of his alleged "faith" as a slur on him, (except to the extent he pretends to it for purposes of pandering to and winning over supporters). I'm just surprised anyone perceives it in him, or accepts at face value any of Trump's claims to it.
“I have no idea what her experience was in Yugoslavia.”
Wikipedia covers the Communist years pretty well.
