How The Washington Post is keeping up with the news about Joe Biden.

This — this!!! — is on the front page:
From the article — here — we learn that Jill Biden "prioritizes a nicely set table" and that requires candles, the Biden family likes pasta and chicken pot pie, and that dinner is — get this — "a tradition" in the Biden family. Moreover, to "splurge," Jill likes a martini and french fries, while Joe, "who doesn’t drink, famously devours ice cream cones." His "ice cream obsession" makes him "relatable."

Their "pantry" is "stocked with staples familiar to shoppers of suburban grocery stores... including peanut butter and grape jelly, sliced deli cheese, eggs and Haagen-Dazs ice cream." Mmm. You might want to put some of that stuff in the refrigerator. Ice cream in the freezer. I guess they weren't expecting anyone to actually read this bilge. Pantry, indeed. Oh, guess what? In the Biden family, they like apples and red grapes... and low-fat yogurt. Jill does all the cooking — "she enjoys it, especially with her family around, music on and a glass of wine by the stove."

To be fair to The Washington Post, there are 2 other Biden-related items on the front page:
1.  "Trump and Biden gird for the final debate of a bitter campaign." Scroll half way down and you'll find this:
Trump wants and plans to bring up Hunter Biden during the debate.... Biden’s advisers, for their part, see little to be gained by engaging publicly in the details of Hunter Biden’s alleged emails and texts beyond what they have already said, according to people with knowledge of their thinking. These people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to more candidly describe strategy, said there is no reason to give credibility to a report that is sourced in part to close allies of Trump and has prompted considerable public skepticism. The Washington Post has not independently verified the contents of the report. But ignoring the matter altogether is not an option either, they said, leaving some uncertainty about how Biden will address it Thursday night....

Biden did show a flash of anger when he was asked about the subject last week. “I have no response. It’s another smear campaign, right up your alley,” he told a CBS News correspondent who asked about the New York Post’s reporting. The tensions surrounding the issue were evident Tuesday. Biden spokesman Andrew Bates sent a preemptive warning shot at Trump, who has appeared eager to bring up Biden’s son. “He invests in these tainted smears,” Bates said, “because he knows his presidency is a weak, pathetic failure.” Substance aside, Biden should show that he can stand up to Trump in the debate, said former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell, a longtime Biden ally who has been raising money for his campaign. “He should push back a little bit — not a lot, a little bit — so he doesn’t look weak,” Rendell said. “They’ve been peddling this thing that he’s too weak to be president. . . . He’s got to smack back.”
2. "FBI says it has ‘nothing to add’ to Ratcliffe’s remarks about Hunter Biden, Russian disinformation"
Appearing Monday on Fox Business Channel, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said “there is no intelligence that supports” the idea that the purported Hunter Biden laptop and the emails on it “are part of a Russian disinformation campaign.”
Tuesday’s carefully worded letter from [FBI Assistant Director Jill C. Tyson] to [Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee] states: “Regarding the subject of your letter, we have nothing to add at this time to the October 19th public statement by the Director of National Intelligence about the available actionable intelligence. If actionable intelligence is developed, the FBI in consultation with the Intelligence Community will evaluate the need to provide defensive briefings to you and the Committee pursuant to the established notification framework.”  ...
The letter notes that, in keeping with long-standing Justice Department policy, “the FBI can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any ongoing investigation of persons or entities under investigation, including to Members of Congress."

Rather a contrast with the way both papers promoted Russian collusion for FOUR YEARS with no particular interest in its accuracy.

The FBI has had the Laptop/contents for 10 months. In that 10 months the FBI and IC have found no evidence there is any foreign disinformation. Wray should have been sitting in front for the Senate Judiciary committee by now. That he is not, proves the Senate Republicans are as corrupt as Biden. Isn't is revealing the media itself continues to assert the disinformation theory without noting they do so "without supporting evidence"?

It's yet another standard they apply only to Trump. In this case though they not only fail to challenge the invention, they actively support it themselves.

Honest question: Has the Biden camp explicitly contested the authenticity of the e-mails and photos? The only explicit statement I have heard from Biden is a Fox interviewer getting a Biden surrogate Jenna Arnold to concede, "I don’t think anybody is saying they are inauthentic.”

Biden's responses quoted above do not directly address that question.

Joe Biden reminds me of the expression, the banality of evil. He is so dull, so superficial in his affect, that it is easy to conclude he isn't clever or smart enough to be crooked, he's too vacant to be corrupt. One, right after that text message (from Hunter about 14-year-old girls and crack) there’s another message on keys to an office they’re going to share with the Chinese communists. And the first key they’re going to ask for is for Joe Biden, the “big guy.” Number 2, There’s an anonymous source that has told FOX News that the “big guy” is definitively Joe Biden. He’s one of the people involved in the deal. I know his name. I’m not at liberty to tell you. But I’m told in a day or two he’s going to go public… All I can tell you is if you looked at the photographs on this hard drive and you didn’t go to the police, well if you’re a law enforcement officer you’d be guilty of a felony. If you were just a normal citizen you’d be a horrible human being. There are numerous pictures here of girls who are being, well, they shouldn’t be there. If the Delaware police don’t do anything about this it would be a tragic thing.

Not to be overly dramatic, but it seems that America has reached peak cognitive dissonance or two movies on one screen.

The Left won't even look at the evidence on Hunter's laptop and asserts that it is all a Russian disinformation plot notwithstanding the photos and other things that couldn't be faked.

The Right asserts that Joe and Hunter should be indicted for numerous crimes.

The FBI has had possession of the laptop for months and has sat on it because two members of the protected political class are suspects for committing serious federal crimes.

It is an unfortunate reality that the majority of republicans in the Senate and a solid 40% of the republicans in the House have also been purchased by the democraticals thru their Big Tech Wing of Political Operations, all abetted by Big Media.

Part 2: The FBI is despicable. During my career in prosecution I oversaw dozens of high profile investigations. There can be no legitimate law enforcement purpose behind FBI stonewalling here. Quite the contrary. The information on the drive, if authentic, constitutes incriminating admissions and is already in the public domain. Informants cannot come forward with information about an unknown or non existent investigation. But of course the scumbags running the Bureau know that.

If Hunter were Donald Jr., he would have been in custody since December and in a vice to turn over his daddy.

Obama and the Democrats have corrupted federal law enforcement completely. Sessions was just a squish, but it appears Barr is complicit.

Tim above is right- watch what isn't being said by the Bidens and their lackeys- no one in a position to know has said the e-mails are fake- literally no one. No one is publishing leaks from law enforcement that the e-mails are fake, and I promise you that WaPo and the NYTimes have been asking their sources in the FBI about this- they definitely haven't been sitting on their asses doing nothing to verify the details. The authenticity of the e-mails is no longer deniable in any plausible manner, and faced with that, you get stuff like "the Washington Post hasn't verfied"- it is literally the only spin available to them if they don't want to have to report the details.

How hard is that to comprehend?

Cacimbo; You be wrong ... if the computer repair store owner did not copy Hunter’s drive he would be playing the role of John Cleese’s parrot on MP and stripped for his kilt. If Biden wins the store guy will be charged with possessing child porn and locked away for life.

"He'll get started and the mic will go off.

If I were advising Trump on the debate I would teach him a single word in American sign language:

"LIE" (or "LIAR").

Trump could just stand there with the Trump grin on his face and sign away every time Joe lies is ass off.

It would be a huge distraction to Joe trying to figure out what it meant.

And the MSM would be forced to cover it afterwards...

I don't think anyone watching the debate will be surprised when Trump brings this up.

A couple more questions:
- if the repair guy made an image of the hard drive, how come that has not been shared with other new organizations?
- if not that, could the original emails be shared so that we can see the internet headers?

while one can get text messages on a Macbook, is that a common practice?

I get all my texts on my MacBook as well as my iPhone. My husband does not have his set up that way. It's a choice you make.

Will someone in a position to get an answer please ask Wray (or whoever) how it is that Joe Biden still has a security clearance?

You are making my case that you haven’t looked.

"if the repair guy made an image of the hard drive, how come that has not been shared with other new organizations?"

What makes you think it hasn't been? Surely, even you can imagine what would have happened if the hard drive contents had shown up at the NYTimes?

"Dean, I just got this hard drive contents in the mail from a guy who said it came from Hunter Biden's laptop. I looked at the contents and it is very bad looking for Biden if the contents are authentic. What do you want to do with this?"

"Maggie, immediately take it over to Hudson River Park- you know what to do, don't you?"

Yancey Ward said...

Yeah, some people are just text/e-mail savers- they can literally save a decades worth of material without even thinking it odd (and maybe it isn't- maybe my practice of deleting everything as I receive it is the odd behavior).

The question isn’t whether he’ll push back on Trump.

The question is whether he’d push back on China.

And I think we ALL know the answer.

Presume the Democrats win the presidential election. Who is Kamala gonna name as her VP, when Joe is pushed/dropped/falls/impeached out of office and into an assissted living center? And what is the best date to pick for when that will happen: a day in November 2020, December 2020, or January 2020? I'd guess either one to twodays immediately after the election, or one to two days after inauguration. I've got those squares marked on calendar for the "Joe Drops Out" betting pool, plus another flyer on New Year's Day, because Joe will want to drive himself home after that party past midnight, God help him.

Todd, you read my mind. After I posted what I wrote about the Biden Family Thanksgiving, I thought: "I left out 'underage'! " Unfortunately on this blog, as far as I know, there is no key where I can go back and edit a comment already posted. But I consoled myself with the knowledge that savvy Althouse readers would mentally fill in the "underage" blank. Great minds, etc., etc.

Joe Smith, I think it was Drew Carey, back in the Clinton administration, who said that every time Bill Clinton spoke, a caption saying "Lie . . . Lie . . . More lies" could appear under his image on the TV screen.

I'm with the in-laws, and the TV news is a constant drone in the background.

I was surprised to see that Obama was behind a lectern, and campaigning for Biden. I guess the other choice was Hillary.

After the New York Times went on a fishing expedition for dirt on Amy Coney Barrett's adopted kids, we can now say authoritatively that the legacy media has investigated ACB's adopted children 100x more than they have investigated Joe and Hunter Biden.

"You are making my case that you haven’t looked."

From your comments you seem fairly bright but you are being purposefully obtuse here.

I have only 'seen' a single excerpted email. I don't thing anything else has been released.

That, by itself, would not stand up in court without more corroboration.

I've been the foreman of two criminal juries and I know a little bit about the process.

We agree he's crooked, but there needs to be a lot more to come out to sway others.

Frankly, I think every American should ask this of Joe Biden every day, if he gets elected. Whenever and where ever they can. Let the Press know just how fucking embarrassing they are.

Mr. President, what flavor ice cream did you get today?

Dumb Lefty jim (newest amigo for Dumb Lefty Mark): "I still wonder why no reply emails"

They literally got Hunter's business partner to confirm the emails via his own google account as well as shared Frank Luntz' reply just today.

Thanks very much for "keeping up".....

No, I think Hillary retired that award in spite of falling short at the end.

Joe Smith: "Will someone in a position to get an answer please ask Wray (or whoever) how it is that Joe Biden still has a security clearance?"

You're kidding right?

As we speak you can bet that Wray is working backdoor with the Biden team and the obama go-betweens to plan out how they will leak an internal "anonymous" FBI comment that this laptop that has been in their possession for 10 months, despite earlier FBI confirmation that this laptop and emails are real, is somehow not real.

Then the media will run with non-existent anonymous White House sources who they will claim "leaked" internal White House personnel saying it was all a White House plot.

Remember, the democraticals and their fully house-broken LLR-lefty lap poodles only have to continue lying thru their teeth for 2 more weeks.

And they can do that standing on their heads....

Michael K -
The media didn't go all in to support Hillary - actual support - like they are now with Biden.

With Hillary the media actually did pretend to care about her private server - and we got to hear a little about it from her side of the press pool. which irked her.

Now? Wagons, circled.

"There is an underlying message in articles like this:

“If you vote for Biden, we [Democrats] will stop beating the hell out of you and allow peace once again.”

After a year of Cloward-Piven chaos and violence intended to sabotage the economy and terrify you into abandoning all social activities, we will relent if you do as we command."

Yeah, that's pretty much it. So. Ya know. Fuck em.
