Atena Farghadani, 28, went on trial in Iran for drawing this.
The cartoon depicts members of the Iranian parliament voting on a ban on IUDs and vasectomies. The charges are "spreading propaganda against the system; insulting members of parliament through paintings; and insulting the supreme leader."
The trial took place on Tuesday, but the judge will not give his decision for at least a week.

Draw a picture like that of Obama and you won't go to jail, but you could lose your job.
This lady is likely to be stoned to death.
Or hung in the public square!
It's obviously hatespeech.
The article describes the law as "severely curtailing women's rights."
Why not, "severely curtailing individual rights?"
The charges are "spreading propaganda against the system; insulting members of parliament through paintings; and insulting the supreme leader."
If the judge convicts on these charges he will have the inside track for a Supreme Court nomination once Hillary Clinton is president. So there is that.
What kind of jar is she holding, a val jar?
Polls in American show that 51% of Democrats & 37% of Republicans agree that these types of ideas should be labeled HATE speech, and should be made illegal.
Bill OReilly effect.
Iran's family planning program is more enlightened, progressive, and pro-woman than America's. This generated in me a jarring cognitive dissonance with my belief that Islam is uniformly evil, so I'm happy to hear the mullahs want it revoked.
This is why America the beautiful!
Fuck those bastards.
Mitt Romney was *this close* to removing all of the tampons and condoms from the shelves. *whew*
"The future shall not belong to those who would slander the prophet of Islam." - Barack Hussein Obama.
"...insulting members of parliament through paintings;"
Is that the formal charge? Do they have separate statutes for sculpture, song, writing, interpretive dance, movies, plays, stand-up comedy, and hand gestures? Or is insulting these guys these other ways just okey-dokey.
Iranian prisons are much more progressive than here in America.
I see all the men are wearing their Ahmadinejacket sans necktie. Iranians are prohibited from wearing ties in Iran because they contribute to the spreading of western culture. Neckties - and bowties - were said to be decadent, un-Islamic and viewed as "symbols of the Cross" and the oppressive West. At the height of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s popularity, his trademark fawn-coloured windcheater - known to some as the Ahmadinejacket - spawned many a mini-trend.
We through a guy in prison for making a film because Hillary blamed him for Benghazi when, as it turns out, she knew full well that the film was irrelevant.
What is really scary is that throwing people in jail for creating art should not be allowed even if said art caused the attack.
But BENGHAZI!!!! so it doesn't matter.
"through a guy" .. That's what happens when you let your spinal chord spell for you.
You can look at Pope Francis' Twitter account, he gets much worst on a minute to minute basis.
I'm not going to comment on this, because if I say what I think, some Islamofascist might come over and shoot my dog. I'm not so worried about that; she's old. But the goat doesn't need to be fucked. So I'll keep quiet.
Oh, Bob. I'm still chuckling.
It's clear why The One so admires the Iranian system.
