I saw this today, at the State Street entrance:
Does the fish on the flag make it more disrespectful to have it on the ground or does it somehow cause this not to be a U.S. flag anymore and therefore okay to put the whole thing on the ground?

Because for them, the flag is just a prop.
Well, it's on a stick. You can't take flags on sticks into the Capitol
Oh, so the fish is printed right onto the flag? Like a Muskie Nation thing or something? Odd.
What an ichthy thing to do to the flag!
In fact the fish is a depiction of Mohammed.
There's multiple dimensions of disrespect interacting and throwing off diffraction patterns here.
The "never has so few ignored so many" on the sign is very ironic with what happened last year with Obamacare.
I hope you picked up the flag to have it properly taken care of....
Aside from the flag, what is with the sign "Never have so few ignored so many?" Isn't it about 100K public union members against a couple million who voted for Walker and the Republicans? Seems to me that sign has it exactly backward.
I asked a man who was standing close to this still life why was there a fish on the flag. (This was some guy who was standing in the doorway passing out some standardized signs.) He shrugged and said it was probably something from "up north."
Anybody really surprised?
These are people who think they're owed a living.
Totally unlike those racist, violent, dirty teabaggers.
PS Kos supposedly twatted, "It's our turn, teabaggers".
No, you had yours, it ended last November; you're just digging the hole that much deeper.
Worthless scumbags. Fire every one of them and get serious about educating the children of Wisconsin.
It's a Sicilian message. It means liberty sleeps with the fishes.
It's depicting how, next, Walker is going to turn Wisconsin into a theocracy!
Christianists!

Or the Tea Pary protests. Remember when our man child president professed know knowledge of them?

They'd never desecrate a Che' flag...
+1 @Henry
"never have so few ignored so many"
That is correct, the protestors are far fewer than the many taxpayers who voted in November.

Ahhh, a repeat of the all-purpose excuse for the mounds of garbage left by, well, the left.
You see, EVERY person who carried a sign then went into the capitol building (in order to help stop democracy from happening) - and they were unable to detach their signs and desecrated flags and other flotsam and jetsam from the ubiquitous sticks before entering the building. They were futher unable to take those then-bare sticks and gather them up and put them in a neat pile so they could pick them up for proper disposal (or recycling) after they were finished interfering with the democratic process.
And that included leaflets and signs with no sticks. They must have had ghost sticks or something.
An impossible task, particularly for union labor, which obviously considers litter control something done by people less important (and much lower paid) than themselves.
But, carry on deploying that threadbare excuse.
Slightly OT but does anyone know the correct name for the little toes sculpted into the bronze column?
It is incredibly depressing that these people are actually teaching children.
Regarding the sign: You're not being ignored. We see what you're doing, and we'll remember it the next time there's a school referendum.
"never has so few ignored so many"
I don't think this means what they think it means.
Let's jump to the cite for a direct quote, shall we?
*tee-hee*
Okay, maybe not...
I have it! The Gospels of John:
Apostle John wrote, "And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not." - John 11:49-50
Hmmm...no probably not; perhaps Aristotle who wrote in "The Aim of Man"
"Even supposing the chief good to be eventually the aim for the individual as for the state, that of the state is evidently of greater and more fundamental importance both to attain and to preserve. The securing of one individual's good is cause for rejoicing, but to secure the good of a nation or of a city-state is nobler and more divine."
Drats...nope.
A quote from Deutsches Reich may fit in with their previous signage:
"Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz"
Seriously, these are teachers?
Respect is for the little people.
This is the (umpteenth) Day of Rage!
So it's okay, it's a statement of passion. Or something.
"Slightly OT but does anyone know the correct name for the little toes sculpted into the bronze column?"
I don't think they have a proper name. When that feature appears at the terminal end of the legs of furniture, it's usually just called "lion's paw foot" or simply "paw footed".
Never have so few ignored so many.
Well, that IS true. There are many many more NON union voters who elected the Governor and the Legislature. The fewer, union teachers, want to ignore that there was an election.
And, as we have been repeatedly lectured. Elections have consequences. Also....the Republicans in Wisconsin can say.....we won.
He shrugged and said it was probably something from "up north."
Didn't he really say Up Nort'?
Not right to put the flags on the ground, nor decals on them. Nor good to wrap it around yourself, as one kid did today. And as radio hate talker Vicki McKenna does on billboards.
