For master conspiracist and leading intellectual Tim Pool, the revelation that he's a victim of this Kremlin conspiracy must have made his beanie spin. He clearly failed to do his own research. Though I expect the loss of the $400,000 plus the Russians were paying him each month stings a lot more.

Concepts of a Plan said...

Beyond any of the Russian financing Tenet it's a pretty ringing indictment of our culture's credulousness that anyone looks at Tim Pool and Benny Johnson, for instance, and sees someone they should be listening to, let alone watching talk for hours. They both look like Tom Tomorrow cartoons.

This DoJ story is just nonsense. It is the same playbook from 2016. Money supposedly laundered to Russia, then laundered in the US, finances a conservative (in this case, really libertarian) group without telling them the true source, and that’s influencing elections. China paying Tim Walz directly to visit? DoJ slow walking documents requested by House Oversight Committee weeks ago.

The latest lefty talking point on the Gaza war is: "Israel has an absolute right to defend itself but I am concerned about their methods." One way of looking at Israeli methods is to compare the ratio of civilians to soldiers killed in the Gaza war to the ratio in other wars. Israeli methods have kept civilian casualties to a very low ratio. Israel has killed 17,000 Hamas fighters. It is estmated that 40,000 people have died in the war meaning 23,000 civilians. So the ratio of civilian to soldier casualties is 1.3:1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_casualty_ratio
Often in modern wars the ratio has been 9:1 according to the UN. In World War II the ratio has been estimated at between 3:2 and 2:1. And when we consider that Hamas soldiers deliberately shield themselves behind civilians rather than acting as a shield for civilians this ratio is extremely low. For the Hamas tactic means that at least one civilian, the one the soldier is hiding behind, will end up dying for each soldier who is killed. But despite this, the Israelis have kept the ratio very low, very close to 1:1 which is the ratio made inevitable by the unusual Hamas tactic of being an army shielded by civilians rather than an army shielding them.
Consequently Israeli tactics on how to save civilian lives in urban warfare should be studied. They are an example to other armies.

This is from the YouTube Chris Williamson interview with Eric Weinstein.
At one point Chris Williamson asks Eric Weinstein to react to Kamala Harris’s often repeated phrase: “What can be unburdened by what has been.”
This is Eric Weinstein’s chilling reply:
What it basically says is you have to wipe out what has been to arrive in the new . . . It’s not a direct translation but it occurs in Karl Marx . . . if you think about what Mao had to do to wipe out Chinese history, what Pol Pot had to do. You’re trying to wipe out memory because the memory has all of this burden. Why is it important to go after doctors and lawyers and professors? Because, in some sense, they are going to resist the New Order that you’re about to impose. You’re looking for a blank slate and they . . . are tethered to the past.

I'm still waiting from 2017 for Progressives to explain why WEF and EU money influencing is permitted but not Russia. Of course, back in 2017, we just finished with Obama restoring better relations with Russia while lowering the UK's special status with the United States. Now, Progressives will pretend we have always been at war with Russia (because the obvious paradox of Bernie Sanders nearly winning the Democrat ticket is harder to see this year). And to repeat myself, they'll act like nothing is wrong with Tim Walz's relations with China. Still, nobody talks about Hunter Biden's ties to Ukraine, where we send hundreds of million in aid yearly now.

Leland writes: "The real question is who is funding Rich?"

On November 2020, a few hours after the US presidential election had been called for Joe Biden, Virginia Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas, justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, sent a bizarre text to Donald Trump’s chief of staff, her old friend Mark Meadows. It read:

“Biden crime family & ballot fraud co-conspirators (elected officials, bureaucrats, social media censorship mongers, fake stream media reporters, etc) are being arrested & detained for ballot fraud right now & over coming days & will be living in barges off GITMO [Guantánamo Bay] to face military tribunals for sedition”. ~ Virginia Thomas

Thomas’s fantasy had not originated in her own head. It had been generated online by some part of what we must now call the “QAnon community” — a sprawling nebulous matrix of individuals who adhere to a compendious almost rococo conspiracy theory. This theory holds that since 2017 an anonymous security insider — Q — has been revealing via gnomic hints the existence of a vast global conspiracy involving the Clintons, the Bidens and just about anyone else that for some reason they don’t like.

In addition to secretly ruling the world these bad people also run a vast network of trafficking of children for sex, necessitating a labyrinth of subterranean tunnels in which these infants are stored. Q however has revealed that inside the US military and secret service there is an angelic squad of resisters, led by Trump, who are poised to rise up, arrest, try and execute the wicked ones and usher in a better new world. This is “the coming storm” and the faithful need “to trust the plan” — even when the storm seems always to be delayed.

That any large number of adults should sign up for such a prospectus seems remarkable. We read their comments on Althouse every day.

One might widen the gaze and say that in the ever-increasing greatly expanded information space, there are going to be wacko neighborhoods, places infused with the black magic of dark conspiracy.

Trump rode a populist wave into power -- and populist is very people based -- and then tried to leverage that people power into an autocratic overthrow, which is the opposite of being people based. One would expect most of Trump's populist base to erode down to a much narrower conspiracist base as additional information is exposed in the public square. If that doesn't happen, then some very harrowing questions are in the offing.

One question might be whether or not the plutocracy is using their money as Supreme Court sanctioned free speech to overthrow a democracy supposedly based on free speech? The opening anecdote about Virginia Thomas raises disturbing questions. We now know who her husband works for. Who does she work for or with?

So one candidate will take any question from anybody and answer it unfiltered, and the other candidate won't take or answer any questions from anybody and is on record as saying that the government needs to control what people can say. Quite a choice for American voters to make.

One might widen the gaze and say that in the ever-increasing greatly expanded information space, there are going to be wacko neighborhoods, places infused with the black magic of dark conspiracy.

A vast information space must be assumed a permanent feature going forward, therefore the "kitemarking" concept should be pursued and expanded so that all participants have some opportunity to see and hear all the voices in the public square, not just a few. There's too much self-reinforcing self-selection going on today (which is a form of censorship that is self-created and what is worse subject to manipulation by others).

The best inoculation against conspiracy theories from the fringe infecting the broader political process with a view of overthrowing democratic governance in favor of some reactionary "elite" is to stigmatize political parties with defeat who peddle extremist doctrines.

Who does she work for?

In November 2020, a few hours after the US presidential election had been called for Joe Biden, Virginia Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas, justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, sent a bizarre text to Donald Trump’s chief of staff, her old friend Mark Meadows.

~ Financial Times

That any large number of adults should sign up for such a prospectus seems remarkable. Yet here we are reading similar claims on Althouse comment threads.

One might widen the gaze and say that in the ever-increasing greatly expanded information space, there are going to be wacko neighborhoods, places infused with the black magic of dark conspiracy.

Another "letter" showing what a joke OUR government is, while THEY are doing the same thing they are lecturing Nicaragua about doing to THEIR citizens..... I just can't understand how dumb some people are in excusing these clowns.

"Putin says he wants Harris to win 2024 election"

Inga said...

You believe Putin? He was smiling and obviously trolling. No way is Harris his favored candidate, that’s laughable. Trump is much more to his liking and will do Putin’s bidding. Think back to Helsinki and what Trump said with Putin standing there next to him, making Putin look like the cat that just had it’s cream.

Michael K said...

That's why we elected him. Finally ! Some one tries to keep his promises ! The GOPe did not help and that is why they are losing the party.

Larry, of course, is "The Black Face of White Supremacy."

Michael K said...

Yes, but who is paying you for spreading this horse shit ?

Janice Rogers Brown was treated shamefully by Democrats. So was Miguel Estrada.

It's obvious why Putin would prefer Harris. Weakness always attract dictators in their enemies.

Talking to Fridman, Trump further said, "But I’ve done well with debates. I became president, and then the second time I got millions more votes than I got the first time. I was told if I got 63 million … you would win. You can’t not win. And I got millions of more votes than that and lost by a whisker but— and look at what happened with the world."

I question their influence considering I've never heard of any of them.
