The flowers of the common milkweed are surprisingly fragrant.

Has anyone else noticed that, today, conserving energy means "not using it at all", when it used to mean "not wasting it"?

Rather miss my milkweed garden at the farm. I had around a dozen US species providing a nice variety of flowers.

For me conserving energy means taking a nap.

Once did some work at the home of a big, tattooed, long haired, bearded, ruffian gangster biker.

He had a variety of pretty flowers in his yard that attracted different types of butterflies.

Power Line blog had a piece on Mark Halperin's site - the Wide World of News. It linked to an hour long video. Halperin had 17(??) experts commenting on the debate and the path forward.

A few were GOPe mouthpieces, but most were Commie-Pinkos. The GOPe contingent was all-in on Biden but after the debate debacle they can't vote for him. They hate Trump so they will not vote for him either.

Needless to say, the Lefties won't vote for Trump and are now befuddled. The line they kept repeating was that during the debate "Trump lied, Biden misstated". The Lefties are in turmoil. Made for a good laugh.

From the looks of the leaves, it's Asclepias purpurascens.

Here in SoMo, the Asclepias tuberosa (common orange milkweed) can still be found densely lining fence lines. Beautiful to see a 1/4 mile of the stuff. I had one plant with a root that was maybe 10" across and gave me 30-40 stems each year.

There is a family-run seed company in CO called Botanical Interests, and they have terrific high-quality seeds. Flowers, vegetables, herbs, cover crops, everything. And they also do seed mixes for prairie-type flower varieties, and also one for hummingbirds, one for butterflies and pollinators. They do well across a range of zones - I've had great success with them here in the blackland / post oak savanna areas of Texas.

This small window of midsummer is the best. Fall is great, late summer is pretty awesome and I don't have to go Into how great May can be, but none of them are as magical and beautiful as this time right now, these few short weeks.

Can anybody tell me what "far right" actually means, when they are the largest vote getter? Far to the right of... what?

Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) party has taken the lead in the first round of France’s parliamentary elections on Sunday, initial projections showed, as President Emmanuel Macron’s party slumped to third place. Initial estimates by IPSOS put the RN bloc in first with 34% of the vote, ahead of the left-wing alliance in second with 28.1%, while Macron’s centrist coalition trails in a distant third with 20.3%

It looks like Le Pen will come close to a majority, but not get an absolute one, which gives the globalists a window to lock her out of power

That's what "far right" means, BTW, opposed to globalism.

There's a second round of voting set for July 7. Nothing is firmly decided yet because the Fifth Republic is needlessly obtuse and tuned to help keep slim majorities in power.

Another thing that makes her a bad candidate for Dems is that Biden put her in charge of stopping illegal immigration.

So that's a very obvious and public failure, and it happens to be Trump's favorite political topic.

It is important that we have answers to questions that mean a great deal to the people around us. There is an aspect of Bragg v Trump (sic) I am struggling to understand. There are no felony charges without the misdemeanor falsification charges; the latter rest on the assumption that the records of the monthly payments to Cohen were inaccurate and intentionally so. The fact that Cohen billed Trump for an amount far greater than the amount of the NDA (not factoring in another project he had worked on) is *why* people believe the billing was fraudulent. I have considered several possibilities; the first two are not mutually exclusive:
- The prosecution's assertion, that Cohen believed the NDA was a campaign expense and tried to masquerade it as a legal expense.
- Cohen sought to hide from Trump either the NDA itself and/or the fact that he had paid for it, and tried to masquerade it as a legal expense.
- Cohen followed a lawful legal practice in padding his legal bill to account for taxes he would owe as a result of reporting the reimbursement for the NDA as income. I do not know if this is true; I need confirmation from someone who knows the law better than I do.

The leaves of milkweed are so big and clunky whereas the flowers from time they are buds till they are fantastic, dessicated forms against a white snow field are always delicately beautiful.

The media keeps telling us that Joe Biden has been a great president due to his accomplishments, but they never list them, probably because they are hugely unpopular with all by the affluent white left.

The media keeps telling us that Trump lied all through the debate, but they never give specifics, probably because all of his "lies" are either differences of opinion, or factually correct but misleading, because they would tend to make somebody not think that Joe Biden is the "greatest president ever" if people were to know about these things.

I thought that the first rule of writing was to "show, not tell," but they just tell us stuff we are supposed to believe, without ever bothering to show us that what they are telling us is true.

The federal government has known since the Hur Report that Biden was incompetent to stand trial and therefore incompetent to run the government as President. AG Garland has suppressed that information from the American people. In the meantime, someone or many others are running the government without a constitutionally elected leader.

It drives me nuts to read something like this. The Federal government does not run the country. We the people do. That was the whole point of the Revolution.

On the other hand, change "running" to "ruining" and they have a point.

Pelosi tried to list the supposed Trump lies yesterday. She was lying herself, of course. The “lies” she noted were that she was responsible for the national guard not showing up, that the 2020 election was fraudulent and that Ds are ok with late term and even post term abortion. (Maybe others there I’ve forgotten.) These “lies” can all be substantiated though - Nancy on video saying she was responsible, 2020 some states not following their election laws wrt mailin ballots, and Gov Northam video where he discusses the late/post term issue.

Figures they lie about the lying. She’s also all in on Biden staying in the race too of course.

I agree it’s ridiculous they never give examples when they make these claims. Proves they don’t have the meat imho. Plus, as I said yesterday, Jill et al hiding Biden decline should be the only lie we should be talking about.

Breezy said...

Pelosi also claimed some healthcare professionals think Trump has dementia. She’s truly a piece of work.

wendybar said...

"It drives me nuts to read something like this. The Federal government does not run the country. We the people do. That was the whole point of the Revolution."

That is the way it was set up, but can you really say the people are running the country with a straight face?? If we did, corrupt politicians would all be in prison, not making bucks off of insider trading and bribes from lobbyists.

The Washington State Dems passed a natural gas ban. Initiative 2066 has been gathering signatures to overturn that ban. They have 423,000 signatures today, with 325,000 required. Turn-in date is Friday, July 5th. The original target was 400,000, the new target is 500,000.

The 423,000 signatures will be turned in tomorrow, with a final turn in on the 5th.

The fascist/barbarian party won't know what hit them come Friday. They'll be smashed by a 200-car train.
