Based on the post title, I'm not even going to follow the link. I'm still recovering from the gorilla tape incident.
Could this be considered "bass-ackwards"?
The picture is sort of rude once I realized I wasn't supposed to be seeing a turkey back-bone.
Ay Carumba!!! They don’t call it a gobbler for nothing!!!
Isn't "Spatchcock" the thing you wear on your arm that's supposed to reduce your interest in sucking dick?
Ripping out the backbone and splaying the carcass. I'm sensing today's unintended theme.
"I'm sensing today's unintended theme."Right...only today and definitely unintended. Sure.
Our dear friend Andrew seems to be hinting that he's taking this approach to a certain book right about now.
This is going to require a DTL or a Titus reference of some kind.
I followed the link. This is actually a pretty excellent way to do the bird we haven't tried yet. We have done flavor injected, whole-fried turkey.Unfried but injected Turkey.Had turkey, Wild duck & venison slow-baked and lightly smoked by cooking on buried hot stones. Native American style - Along with potatos, winter squash, sugar pumpkin, turnip, onions, carrots also cooked on buried coals for a day. (At a friends, and super-good. Yes, purists - carrots, onions and turnips are not native,,,but neither is butter, pepper, garlic, or, most importantly - most of us! )Brined turkey.Done a hot turkey curry served like a stew with bok choy, other veggies, peanuts, and coconut milk for Thanksgiving.Stir-fried turkey served to order. We have had turducken.Turkey done Mexican style.Turkey done Russian style. But not "spatchcocked" turkey. Add that to our list of "to dos".Someone mentioned Titus. Hope he comments. He is an epicure who has done some good comments on other meals, but not a Really Gay Thanksgiving. But hope he limits himself to desribing prepping and eating what goes INTO him...and avoids his coprophiliac urges to give testimony to what comes out of him.
I am going to do this. And I just realized that a turkey back does look like the neck of the monster in Alien
In the high warble of Julia Child: Save the giblets!
Sorry about the multiple posts, it kept prompting me to reenter the word verification and I thought I did it right the first and second time. As for Thanksgivings, gay or straight, they go better with lots of straight bourbon. Preferably Wild Turkey to keep it in theme.
I'm told that a turkey back does look like the neck of the monster in Alien.I suppose if you got a big old paella pan and a couple of cinder blocks you could do Turkey Under a Brick, for a change of pace.
Go down to the picture of the turkey reading for roasting. The picture almost makes the turkey look, well...sexy. As Ace would say: "I'd hit it."
Someone tell DTL that this is a real picture of the latest CIA interrogation method used when terror suspects wont talk fast enough. That should initiate a thread with as much absurdity as yesterday's to Ducktape or not to ducktape thread.
I think it looks yummy!
Cooked, that is.Not freshly spatchcocked.
It actually looks like it is resting peacefully and sensuous in the picture laying on the pan (just before roasting). With its legs slightly crossed. Or is it sensual?
I recommend a handful of antibiotics and for God's sake quit playing with it.
I just realized that turkey ready for roasting has butter breast implants. I am a sucker for butter breast implants.
Is spatchcocking really that new an idea (or word)? I've been doing that to poultry for over 40 years. Whether it's game hens or turkeys, spatchcocking just cuts masses of time off the cooking. It's just about the only way you can cook a turkey on a grill, short of a rotisserie.
God, I hate being serious, but spatchcocking either a chicken or a turkey is a great way to cook them.I posted on this last year.
