Wow! He's sure put his balls on the rail. If by any chance Pelosi keeps her Speaker position, somebody's going to be shoveling shit for the next two years.
If he's so proud of his Republican voting record, why isn't he a Republican?
John, Nancy understands that you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. If by winning he helps her keep her majority leader position, all will be forgiven.
Parts of Georgia south of Atlanta have still never seen a live Republican which are still considered northern aggressors. Then the mass of Georgia's population is in Atlanta which has a doughnut of Repub suburbs surrounding a core of inner city Dem activists Districts where they still play the Shirley Sherrod style siren songs of Affirmative Action. Pelosi will never meet them. They are in Fly Over Country for sure.
>> Ha. I hadn't seen scary hippies — outside of Halloween — in quite some time.
Ann, you better stay away from Telegraph Ave in Bezerkley or Pacific Garden Mall in Santa Cruz. Too bad The Jefferson Starship never blasted off the planet along with their posse.
Fortunately SF to San Jose, and the East Bay south of Bezerkley are mostly scary hippie free (though plenty of other scary freaks). I can't speak for Marin as since Village Music closed I've no reason to set foot there.
You should have heard the Mike Ross ad I heard on the radio the other day. His whole ad was about how he still lives in Arkansas and didnt' vote for basically anything on Obama's agenda.
I tried to find it on his website, but it ran on a country station and they apparently also called central casting for good ole boys because they had some guys with major thick accents saying stuff like "mike ross is an arkansan withour values" He never moved to Washington (this is apparently a big deal in arkansas because it shows up in half the ads).
Bragging about voting with the Republican leadership!
It Looks like we really did get that change after all. Maybe there is hope too.
You got to admit that it's an exciting year in politics. Very refreshing to see how attentive and pliable our leaders can get when you threaten to fire them - and they actually believe you. That is a dynamic we need to preserve.
Another round of porn emails from Horse Cock Carl emerges. Oh my. Can't ever recall emails like this from Nancy Pelosi. Oh well. I'm sure this can all be explained...
Why do Southern political ads have voice overs that sound like Grandpappy Amos? Growing up in the South, and still visiting there regularly, few Southerners actually talk like that. Typical bigoted liberal stereotyping.
Why not vote for a Real Republican? Right-to-Life is only pro-some-lives: they approve abortificants. National Rifle Association is willing to sign on to legislation which will limit competitor groups. So those endorsements only carry weight with the uninformed.
Nancy knew health care would be unpopular so she allowed some Democrats to vote no which explains the razor thin margin of victory. He caucuses in the same caucus as Nancy. He is duplicitous. The lowest level of Hell is for mutineers and betrayers. The next level up is for those who perpetrate frauds. Which level is this guy, selling his soul and his constituents for a Congressional Seat?
Anyone who thinks that this guy is putting "his balls on a rail," or any other risk-taking type descriptive, understand that Pelosi is a politician, and recognizes that to have this man's vote when she needs it, he's going to have to be able declaim support for Pelosi when he needs to in order to get re-elected.
To this end, several members in unsafe districts were allowed to vote against certain programs so as to be able to make campaign adds like this.
This is pretty common practice, and it happens on both sides of the aisle for members of swing districts.
The problem is, of course, that Prez O's promises of the Great Public Gratitude for Healthcare never materialized, and it has now become the 3rd rail in this election cycle. There wasn't enough margin for passage for the Dems to allow everyone in the House who needed to to vote "No!"
"Why is it you don't see throngs of Ds screaming hang the DINO?" Their voices are too tired after all those days spent practicing their southern drawl.

They remember how well that worked with Lieberman?

Assuming he's re-elected, of course.
He may have put the nail in his own (WV) cophin
Hey, wait a minute. I could swear I saw those very same hippies at the Tea Party rally!
That's the Democrat's ad???
But did he vote for her for speaker?
This one. ain't bad either.

I thought there wasn't going to be any hippie punching around here.
@Meade: You should consider starting a clothing line based on Gadsden Flag tie-dyed wear, or outfitting tie-dyed Revolutionary War re-enactors.
Hearty applause for Joe Manchin too!
The hippies were all scary.
As Big Mike notes, when did you ever think Demos would be proud of voting Republican? Marshall makes Manchin look like he's Pelosi's boy toy.

I fuck my wife goddammit! Vote for me!
The last time I saw a scary hippie was in the barber's chair. He was staring me in the mirror. It was 37 years ago.

True hippies were the proto neo-conservatives. Whole Earth Catalog spawned 1000's of businesses and a few industries.
I didn't see any scary hippies. I've seen a few aging leftards that can be confused for scary hippies, but...
On the relationship of (real) Hippies & the Tea Party.
Lengthy, but worthwhile, IMO.

Old question: "If you're so smart, why ain't you rich?" New question: "If you're so great, why are you still a Democrat?"
P.S. If you really wanna see some scary hippies, have I got a video for you!

Mindblowing! It sounds like you, Althouse, Ron, and Darcy had that secret meet-up with Bissage after all.

Those scary hippies look like something from the old Jack Webb Dragnet show.

You have to laugh when Democrats are pretending they aren't Democrats.
Yeah. This is funny as hell. As many other commenters have pointed out.
See? I'm really a Republican.
Too bad The Jefferson Starship never blasted off the planet along with their posse.
And they were my second favorite band too. After the Jefferson Airplane.
Third? The Dead. But only at concerts.
Now that I'm a Hippie for Palin does that mean I have to give them up?
Hippies Palin
Well. I'm not going to.

Reminds me of this
(And look wherer Dennis Hopper ended up politically)
This used to be a helluva good country. I don't understand what's going on with it
and later
What you represent to them is freedom...When they see a free individual its going to scare them

Ooopsie.
I've smelled some scary hippies recently...
"They [NRA] wouldn't have anything to do with a Nancy Pelosi supporter."
I don't buy that for a second.
But why not change parties, Democrat? If you aren't one, why be one?
"He voted with Republican leaders 65% of the time."
That's interesting, considering John Boehner voted with Nancy Pelosi 71% of the time.
