"[V]arious ax-grinders want to use Biden’s struggles to push the party toward their positions. Critics of Israel have fixated..."

"... on the problems created by encampments at elite universities. And it is true that the news media’s intense coverage of an issue that splits the Democratic coalition and unites the Republican coalition hurts Biden and helps Trump. But that does not accurately reflect the nature of Biden’s polling deficit. The Harvard youth poll found Israel-Palestine at the bottom of young voters’ concerns.... Overall, the public continues to sympathize with Israel over the Palestinians by a margin of 41 percent to 22 percent.... [S]iding with the unpopular protesters would not address the source of Biden’s unpopularity. Another, more traditional form of ax-grinding came recently from Mark Penn in a Times op-ed. Penn... a key strategist for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign... [has a] long-standing fixation... [on moving] to the center across the board.... In reality, taxing the rich and corporations is Biden’s most popular issue.... The economy is still healthy, and the anti-Israel protests might — might — die down. But the trajectory remains grim...."

Writes Jonathan Chait, in "No, Your Pet Issue Is Not Making Biden Lose/It’s inflation, not Israel or class warfare" (New York Magazine).

Did this come from Biden's joke writers?

Plus ageism, you know, against that poor old man too forgetful to be prosecuted.

I don't know. They'll burn down Chicago to push the Party Left. These radicals don't give a crap about Gaza: the DNC is their hostage. Even if the war ended tomorrow, they'd just move on to the next issue.

Ahh, href=https://finance.yahoo.com/news/fort-worths-tallest-building-sells-111742615.html>NO

"Burnett Plaza, the tallest building in Fort Worth, Texas, has been purchased via foreclosure auction for $12.3 million just three years after it was sold for more than $137.5 million, according to the Dallas Business Journal."

Sell it for $137M, buy it back for $12M.

Bidenomics.

the Michigan poll numbers must be Truly Scary!

as for the Economy...
Bloomberg: A key gauge of inflation surged by much more than expected in April, confirming that the pace of inflation has accelerated.
The producer price index for final demand increased 0.5% from a month earlier, driven largely by services and following a downwardly revised 0.1% drop in March, Bureau of Labor Statistics data showed Tuesday. Compared with a year ago, the index is up 2.2 percent, the largest increase in a year.

Bidenomics!
FORTUNATELY.. inflation will affect vote counts too!
So, for every "vote" counted in 2020.. 1.5 "votes" will be counted in 2024

Inflation does not affect two groups of people in a negative way:

1. Very wealthy people actually benefit because they have assets that are worth more relative to labor.

2. Government employees just increase their pay to keep up.

Some people are doing very well right now. But 80% of the country obviously gets screwed.

The Democrat party is not in charge.

They are owned by the same people that are paying the protestors and spending billions on NGO's that are shipping people over our borders.

The people in charge do not mind if the DNC Convention gets overrun and everyone inside impaled on a spike by the barbarians they pay to burn things down if it gets them what they want.

Right now I am pretty sure they are aiming at Civil War, open conflict, and Martial law. They are going to spark this through a food shock and jailing political opponents.

Inflation is very much a class warfare issue.

I am struck by Chait's inclusion of the word "still" here. There's a sense that they're hoping to make it to the election before it all implodes.

My long-held belief is that there is no central control in the Biden Administration. It drifts along with each little group pushing its own agenda, often in conflict with the other groups. The evidence is that I never hear about Biden's chief of staff. That person is supposed to ride herd on everyone and keep them inline and on theme. In other administrations that person would be talked about a lot. With Biden's I hear nothing.

That was a very confusing column.

Maybe he just wanted to trash Mark Penn.

The economy is healthy . . . except for that inflation thing. OK

“Tax the rich” may be a strong argument amongst Biden supporters, but with so few of them around, I doubt it will be a winning argument anymore than selling weapons to Libya, Yemen, and Qatar while blocking arms sells to Israel.

As for a healthy economy, tell that to the journalists laid off in the past 12 months. The economy is fine, they just suck, eh Chait?

Taxing the rich is going to control inflation? Really?

Do you mean George Soros, the last living (and unrepentant) Nazi from the 1940's? He has gleefully wrecked whole western economies before.

I, for one, await the re-enactment by keffiyeh-clad Berkeley students of the Intifadas, complete with bomb-vested suicide martyrs exploding on a campus bus or in a Starbucks. Until then this is all just the latest flavor of uni students playing dress up to enjoy a spring day out of class. Palestinian themed protests at US universities is LARPing, cosplay, a masquerade.
