"The desire of Saint Mary’s College to show hospitality to people who identify as transgender is not the problem. The problem is..."

"... a Catholic woman’s college embracing a definition of woman that is not Catholic. I urge the Board of Trustees of Saint Mary’s College to correct its admissions policy in fidelity to the Catholic identity and mission it is charged to protect and to reject ideologies of gender that contradict the authoritative teachings of the Catholic Church regarding the human person, sex and gender."

Wrote Kevin Rhoades, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of South Bend, Indiana, quoted in "Catholic women's college reverses plan to admit transgender biological men" (Washington Examiner).

That's one way to approach the problem. Amen.

Transubstantiation has been the cause of many religious quarrels.

A religion with a genocidal priority is defended on campus but certainly this can’t stand…

Gender dysphoria is a mental illness, why encourage it?

The bigoted Left hates Catholics. Admit it.

Dave Begley, your comments are uncharacteristically and astoundingly ignorant and insulting to the intelligent and determined women I have taught and teach in the field of business there.

As with Columbia and Barnard, before going co-ed ND tried merging with St Mary's. St Mary's said no, we want to remain separate and all women. Transgender students can go to ND and take classes at St Mary's. If they can get in.

Because, paraphrasing our friend Gahrie, no emotionally troubled person may ever be made to feel bad about anything, ever.

I was encouraged to find, the other night, that my GenZ daughter believes that millennials are terrible parents and GenAlpha are ridiculously weak-minded youths. Of course she was generalizing, as what 22yo doesn't? But it was so good to hear that she, at least, doesn't think it's good parenting to humor your child's every whim and complaint.

Sometimes it takes a bishop to remind "Catholic" institutions that they are not God's instrument for propounding the latest political fad.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

The fact they were sneaky and deceptive about veering away from Catholic doctrine should concern every parent whose daughter was considering ND. My hunch is that this will prove to be only the beginning of radical changes there. After all ordained priests make up the majority of the governing body

Sex, sex-correlated gender, social liberalism, transgender spectrum, and misogyny.

Trans/socials. Gender is sex-correlated attributes (e.g. sexual orientation): feminine, masculine, and transgender spectrum.

Ordinarily I would expect resignations from the people who pushed the now-reversed change through. I wonder if that will happen.

The College Presidents name is Katie Conboy. That's right CON-BOY. Delicious. Completely fitting. Maybe we do live in a simulation...lol.

She should resign or be fired.

One of the great ideological conundrums of our time is why do liberal women in education promote the penis invasion of women's spaces?

It certainly isn't for the betterment of young women.

I can only assume is has more to do with the destruction of men. If you can get one to wear a ponytail, walk around in a dress, and then get him to compete on the girls' swim team, you've really just put him on display for humiliation.

I admit my error. I will delete my comment. I apologize.

This is why we can't have nice things.

The 'all gay all the time' crowd try to infect everything.

My niece went to that school and then on to Notre Dame across the street.

Many friends and family have gone to ND (coed).

Both are very good academic schools and are only 'conservative' relative to the other looney bin universities in the country.

Thank you, Dave Begley for reconsidering your original comment. Merry Christmas!

That step by step history of the slippery slope I posted a few weeks ago? It's accelerating just as I said it would. It hasn't and won't stop until there's a wall erected to do so.

There are some doing so now and once it's sufficient, we'll see a major reeling in and disparagement of the movement. It won't be pushed back to square one, but it will be pushed back from where it is.

The big mistake on their part is the blatantly visible targeting of children, a line in the sand even many trans activists find abhorrent.

Conformity to Catholic or rainbow flag ideology...the sheep must follow the shepherd. It's obvious why the Catholics used a shepherd's crook to symbolize thought control, and a visible crucifix necklace to show public devotion. Today, Woke folks put their pronouns in their emails and show rainbow stuff. Virtue signaling wasn't a new thing a thousand years ago, and like moths to a flame...but which flame?

Shepherd's crook or Bishop's crook::

My pronouns are Master, Sir, and Xenophagoulousihishus. Get them right or I'll be super-duper offended and cross with you.

"Moreover, we clearly underestimated our community's genuine desire to be engaged in the process of shaping a policy of such significance."

That's my favorite line from their press release. I must confess I simply don't understand the "mind" that would write those words. "Gee, man, we're totally shocked that all you peasants should want to be involved in deciding the nature of this school! Dont' you know it completely belongs to those of us who currently have teh power of running it, and none of the rest of you matter?!?"

WTF?

Another Catholic institution self-combusts; kaboom!

Saint Mary's of Notre Dame thinks it gets its moment of fame, rather than the actual dismay expressed by its many alumni women, and disdain from prospective applicants who are daughters of traditionally-conservative Catholic families. (They still exist, still send their kids to Catholic colleges.) Via this stupid virtue-signal ploy, supposedly to mark its "progressive values", St Mary's likely gains one trans woman student, but certainly loses dozens more, dismayed prospective female applicants whose parents are absolutely appalled by decision.
