"Thank you Jared for using something sacred and special to the descendants of Joe and Rae Kushner to validate the sloppy manner in which you've handled this campaign."

"From the references to 'Palestine' at the AIPAC conference (which got Donald jeered) to the justification of the itchy Twitter fingers your fatherinlaw has, you've managed to further prove what so many of us have known for many years. Kudos to you for having gone this far; no one expected this. But for the sake of the family name, which may have no meaning to you but still has meaning to others, please don't invoke our grandparents in vain just so you can sleep better at night. It is self serving and disgusting."

Writes Jacob Schulder, cousin of Jared Kushner, to whom he hasn't spoken in 10 years and whose father he helped Chris Christie put in prison.

From Wikipedia:

Charles Kushner (born May 16, 1954) is an American real estate developer, political fundraiser and philanthropist. In 2005, he was convicted in federal court for making illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering.

Because of his contributions, the building housing Hofstra University School of Law is named in honor of Kushner and his wife Seryl (Stadtmauer). He donated $2.5 million to Harvard University, the alma mater of his sons Jared and Joshua. He is also well known for his charitable donations to Jewish educational institutions. One of the Kushner family's philanthropic ventures was the dedication of Joseph Kushner Building of the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Kushner's father, Joseph, for whom the building is named, had been a longtime member of the Jewish community and major force in the JEC's early growth.

Kushner also funded the building of the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy (Pre-K through 8) and the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School (grades 9-12), two connected Modern Orthodox Jewish institutions located in Livingston, New Jersey, where Kushner resides. The schools are named after his deceased parents, both Holocaust survivors.

Kushner is a major donor to the Democratic Party, most notably to former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey.

In 2005, following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, Kushner was convicted of making illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering by attempting to silence his sister and brother-in-law by creating a sex tape of his brother-in-law with a prostitute. Chris Christie, then the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, negotiated a plea agreement with him and he was sentenced to two years in prison. He has since been released.

It looks like Jared Kushner is "off the reservation" in Cousin Jake's eyes.

Trump campaign imagery used a red 6 pointed star that was not at all two interlaced triangles and had no other connection to Judaism than the fact that it was a 6-pointed star. It was put on a portrait of a sells-influence-for-cash politician - who was not jewish.

I had to go read the article because I could not, on multiple reads, figure out who put whose father in jail from the post. From the anger it sounds like Jared helped put this guy's father in jail rather than the reverse.

In any event, what are the "bankrupted sports leagues" that he mentions? As far as I can find, trump was involved only in the US Football League. So why the plural?

And, as far as I can tell, while USFL failed and went out of business, and the team owners lost some or all of their investment, I could find no evidence that it went bankrupt in the formal legal sense or in the more informal sense.

I think this guy should just go shut up, sit in a corner somewhere and sulk by himself.

I also ran across an 2012 article in Salon by someone who worked for either USFL or ESPN or the like producing the USFL. He blames the whole failure on Trump. It was all trump's fault that they switched from playing in spring to fall. 35 years later, this asshole is still bitter. Must have been a really cushy job.

Yeah, I get that it may have been his idea but there were 11 other owners and a majority had to agree with Trump.

Forget it Jake. It's Salon.

Steps to an electoral disaster. Six points; one for each point on the Star of David:

STEP ONE: Trump, an inveterate Twitter user, publishes another one in a series of poorly-conceived posts to his account. The advertisement parody could have just as easily used a five, seven, eight or more-pointed "star" clip-art symbol. The Trump wisenheimers choose the six-pointed star. No matter what the intent, the use of a six-pointed star was a mistake. Even if the choice was a deliberate one to mimic a "sheriff's" six-pointed star, the risk of confusion and offense made that choice a mistake.

STEP TWO: The national negative reaction was as swift and as overwhelming as it was predictable.

STEP THREE: Faced with a choice to backtrack, apologize and make the issue a one-day story, Trump screws it up. The message, and the methodology, are all screwed up. Trump's handlers take down the six-pointed star, but not before it is captured in about a billion screen-shots. Trump's handling becomes confused, incompetent. It's clearly some sort of correction. (Why else take it down, and not proudly let it remain as proof of Trump's bona fides, if it isn't a correction?) But then there is no message affirming what they wanted to say. Not a good one, at least. Certainly not a clear one.

STEP FOUR: Faced with a hostile press, Trump doubles down and dares them to question him. Okay, they say, we'll be happy to question you. About your past belligerent and withdrawn Tweets. About your "little short guys in yarmulkes" comment. How much time you got?

STEP FIVE: A one-day story becomes a catalyzing moment in the campaign. It sticks. Trump=Star of David Anti-Semite. With basically no solid information to support the charge, and only campaign malpractice, Trump has hurt himself. Needlessly, carelessly, badly.

STEP SIX: Trump's supporters harden into further support for their guy in the face of an unfair media attack. Trump's opponents find something other than the misdeeds of Hillary Clinton to talk about. Independents and loosely-affiliated low-information voters hear less about an FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton. They hear more about some sort of vague racial/religious animus on the part of Donald Trump. And at a moment of national racial trauma, they begin to fear the name of Donald Trump. Trump wins a small percentage of those voters; he loses many more. And the net effect is that Trump gets an enthusiastic 35-40% of the vote. Just enough to go down to an absolutely historic thrashing in the electoral college. The worst defeat for a presidential candidate in a generation.

Now reality seems to be dawning on some people, that perhaps Trump's mastery was less actual "mastery" and more about speaking loudly and outrageously.

Trump seems to have a mixed success at best with his messaging. There seems to be a fair amount of confusion and hesitation within his own campaign about 1) How to avoid mistakes and 2) When mistakes are made, how to respond and react to them appropriately without making things even worse and looking like a fool. This is not a good sign.

No, Chuck. you misunderstand the entire founding concept of the United States of America.

It doesn't matter what percentage of voters vote for Crooked Hilary. The only thing that matters is what percentage of states vote for Hilary.

A long time ago I saw a calculation that some large majority of voters could vote for one candidate but, depending on how they were distributed, they could still lose.

I think it might have been as high as 60% of the overall popular vote.

What Trump needs to win is 50.1% of the popular vote in a couple dozen electoral vote heavy states and he becomes President Trump.

A President Trump's AG could then prosecute Crooked Hilary. Comey didn't give her a permanent pass. All that happened was that she will not be prosecuted under this administration. (Probably. Obama could change his mind if she does something to piss him off)

So yeah. I get that part about the electoral college. Point taken. Trump needs only 270 electoral votes. And, uh, that 270 number is all that Clinton needs as well. And twice, I think, the national popular vote winner has lost the electoral college.

But get this; all that Hillary Clinton needs to do, do get to 270 is to simply win all of the 18 blue states which have been won by Democratic presidential candidates in every single election since 1988 (totaling 242 electoral votes)... and then win Florida with its 29 electoral votes. Forget Ohio and Virginia and Nevada and any other "battleground" state. Or alternatively, if you wish, talk about ALL of them. Because Trump has to run that table in its entirety.

So you wanna bet even-up on that possibility? Vegas says that I should give you about 4 to 1 odds. Is that what you want?

So it is likely that Charlie is guilty as hell but Jared is mad at the the cousins and uncle who helped Krispy put his father in jail. Then there is the fight between brothers Charlie and Murray. Murray has donated $130 to Christie's campaign and in turn his law firm has reaped $165 million in the form of tax credits and a state investment in a Murray Kushner project.

And like all others associated with Trump, the only moral question is, "Did he get caught?" That just adds to my dislike for the Trump lifestyle. So what direct business relations did Donald have with Charlie? Well, the guy who went to jail for illegal campaign donations hosted a fund raiser for Donald in 2015 and donated $100,000 to the Make America Great Again PAC. That was after supporting Hillary in prior elections and getting rewarded with a place on the Port Authority Board.

The Kushner brothers fight went to court and Charlie was accused of employing a prostitute to entrap his brother. This sounds like the Clinton's to me. Don't you just hate these elitists? What say the the Trumpsters?

...Kushner and his brother Joshua Kushner were admitted despite modest academic credentials after their father had made a $2.5 million donation to the university,[6][7] with the director of the school's college preparatory program describing Jared Kushner's admission to be "an unusual choice for Harvard to make" given that he was "not anywhere near the top of his class."

" The advertisement parody could have just as easily used a five, seven, eight or more-pointed "star" clip-art symbol. The Trump wisenheimers choose the six-pointed star. No matter what the intent, the use of a six-pointed star was a mistake."

In the early days of this story, it appeared the parody was created by someone on the Trump staff. Later on, it was traced to an Alt-Right fellow who apparently routinely spreads white-supremacist content, and its earliest appearances were on similarly noxious websites. I think Trump was oblivious to the anti-semitic implications, and I hope he or his staff picked it up after it had found its way to a less overtly racist site. The parody's origin makes the intended message pretty clear - that Hillary is a paid puppet of the "Zionists." But it is reasonable to assume that Trump was guilty of ignorance or incompetence rather than malice when he spread it around.

There's a theory for why Trump has been unable to move to a general election strategy despite having assured his supporters he would do so. And that is that Trump absolutely feeds off of the adulation he receives at his rallies. He appears to have a great psychological need for continuous validation. There is a kind of symbiotic relationship there where he gives his stream of consciousness takes on the events of the day and the crowd responses let him know what ideas resonate. He gets the cheers his psyche needs and is able to hone his message. Because the crowd has few traditional Republicans, much less swing voters or Democrats, his honed message remains narrow when a pivot from the fringe would be the smart move. Undoubtedly, his fans are telling him there was nothing wrong with the Hillary ad. Sheriff stars are the same shape (never mind that they also have tiny circles on the points). A "Frozen" book used the same symbol (never mind that snowflakes are six-pointed objects). And so Trump is unable to let it go.

There was no popular presidential vote in those states.

I think trump, assuming that he gets through the convention OK, will beat Hilary like a rented mule through August, September and October. I suspect he is going to win popular and electoral majorities.

But I am not going to enter a wager with someone I don't know. If I lost you could, in a worst case, come to my house and choke me until I paid up. I have no idea who you are. How would I collect if I won?
