Gordon Brown will not have his "standing podium-to-podium with the Messiah image."

Why not? The proffered reason: Obama is a snow pussy. What is he really afraid of?

Podium to podium? How about lectern to lectern? Or have the words become interchangable now? After all, they are "just words".

And Obama is a pussy, always has been, and his wife has a gigantic ass. How is any of this news?

AllenS said...

Everybody from Kenya that I've ever met is like that.

So, Ann, you divide the world into the snow pussies and the non-snow pussies?

Hoosier Daddy said...

Well I think it is refreshing that Obama is willing to meet with our enemies like Kim and Armageddonjad but our closest ally is put off because of some snow?

Just when my opinion of this clown couldn't get any lower.

Hoosier Daddy said...

I bet the Oval Office thermostat is set at 85 now. Probably has palm trees growing amongst the orchids.

john said...

After all, there are 132 rooms in the White House at least some of which, presumably, are currently free of snow.

Damn straight, Hoosier, at 85 degrees no snow is gonna last in there.

And I thought Boy Scouts were taught to defer to their elders. What gives?

Brogan quotes one Number 10 apparatchik as saying…

Well the Brit Press seems to know what kind of “new” Socialist government we have.

…despite the so-called "special relationship" Britain is now getting the same treatment as the President of Uruguay but he need not despair.

With this administration, the President of Uruguay would probably get a parade and sleep Lincoln’s bedroom. They really want “special relationships” with third world countries.

I'm told there's a chance he might get drinks with Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday evening.

This is the Obama administration’s outreach to the handicap. Having a world leader meet with the mentally handicapped and deficient vice president sends a positive signal that the administration values handicapped people and wants a special relationship with them.

If only Cheech Marin would do a video with Ann so she could get him to say 'snow pussy' on camera!

Come to think of it, wasn't it just a month or so ago Obama and his kiddies were telling DC to toughen up when schools were closed for snow days?

Best line in the article.

Yeah, he's a snow pussy all right, but he did have time to attend an NBA basketball game last Friday night. Priorities, priorities.

Perhaps Obama's teleprompter does not like to venture out in the snow?

I tweeted an apology to @DowningStreet. Even though I don't agree with their Prime Minister's policies doesn't mean I don't think he deserves respect. (He's never called me an enemy, unlike some leaders I know.)

Perhaps the "Global New Deal" wasn't selling as well as he would have liked and he wanted an excuse to pretend the idea was never floated.

Is pussy metaphor or synecdoche, is the question.

I think both, thereby carrying a doctrine: woman are weak, as the word itself says.

Hoosier Daddy said...

Yep. Also looks like he's going to sell out the missle defense plans for the Poles and Czechs in return for Russian help with Iran.

Can't imagine what kind of help the Russians plan on giving. Maybe Obama saw something in Medevev's soul.

People who have never been to the Washington area in the winter probably don't get it. There is a rumor of some machine called a snow plow or something like that out in the hinterlands, but it is much too new and radical to be purchased by the DC or suburban governments.

Back when I lived in the Maryland suburbs of Washington they called off school at the threat for a 2" snow that never materialized. The kids were home on a "snow day" when it never even snowed!

But I am a little surprised that a hearty Chicagoan would have bought into the Washington winter zeitgeist quite this quickly.

"But I am a little surprised that a hearty Chicagoan would have bought into the Washington winter zeitgeist quite this quickly."

What is there to be surprised about?

The stock market is accumulating an ongoing and gigantic vote of no confidence on Obama's plan to install the biggest most controlling government we've ever had, and then Obama is scheduled for a big photo op designed to show how buddy-buddy he is with a rabid big government socialist?

What could possibly go wrong?

Bob From Ohio said...

Never read this Toby Harnden chap before but his style of writing is dryly funny. I don't think he likes Brown much.

BTW, reports are that besides dissing Gordon, the O kneecapped Poland and the Czechs over missile defense.

Love this quote from the article: The White House press schedule stated: "There will be a pool spray of the meeting."

Pool spray? That sounds like a dog marking its territory. Well they do call the press a pack.

Back in the good old days Western leaders not only met in the cold, they wouldn't even wear coats. Gorbachev always wore a coat. The Russian would look gimlet-eyed at his democratic counterparts with an expressions that said, "Hey stupids, its cold out."

And certainly intended to be so.

Obama is revealing himself to be beyond the pale as a socialist and he is taking the now default democrat position of politicizing everything, even foreign relations with allies.

We're doomed.

I think he thought he could do a Kennedy/Cuban Missile Crisis thing.

It's fairly clear from the reporting that Obama doesn't think the U.S. interceptor system was a good move anyway and like Kennedy's offer to remove obsolete missiles from Turkey, he wasn't really giving anything up.

The difference is that Cuba was a client state of the USSR while Iran is a client state of nobody. Where Kennedy traded missiles for missiles. Obama was ready to trade missiles for rose colored glasses.

Even the Russians thought this was pathetic. I wish I knew what Hillary Clinton thought.

He's afraid of press questions about his "stimulus" and the resultant panic and sell-off in the market. He's lost David Brooks, Jim Cramer. The Tea Party movement is getting attention. Even David Gregory is turning on him. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/#29481203

His position hat his budget is a stimulus is indefensible, and he knows it, and he knows everybody else knows it.

David said...

PatCA has it right. Obama is afraid of questions. That generally happens when you have no answers.

sg said...

Obama is afraid of press conferences for which he hasn't pre-selected the questioners and pre-distributed the questions.

Jake Tapper might otherwise ask an impertinent question.

Patm said...

Obama is afraid of the press.

He has no balls. He has the "courage" to push through sweeping, nation-changing legislation, but without a teleprompter (or - as we have read - the coming "small computer screen" that will help Obama "better organize" his pressers) he is scared.

Bush had balls. He may have stammered and he may have hated the press, but he talked to them.

Bush had class, to. He would never, ever have treated the UK PM like this.

But Obama seems uninterested in strengthening ties with our allies. He doesn't seem to LIKE our allies very much.

Hell, he doesn't seem to like Americans very much.

But Castro, Chavez...he likes them.

We are SO screwed.

Still, you know the old gal will be hangin' by the phone, waiting on O's next call, and she'll apologize for bothering him, seeing as he's so busy.

Maybe Britain should try flashing its thong.

And he is all too happy to scrap the eastern Europe misile shield if Putin will say a few kind words to Dinnerjacket on Obama's behalf.

I wish I knew what Hillary Clinton thought.

I'll bet she's pissed that she lost to this loser, but is likely cackling behind closed doors about her prospects for 2012. However, she doesn't have Bill's instincts and already blew it in China--she had the perfect chance to be a pain in the ass and get fired by Obama.

* * *

When Obama speaks, markets fall. I'm sure Rahm is worried as shit that this becomes a truism, especially after the past few days.

* * *

Purely anecdotal, but my wife has several very liberal friends. Not one of them will defend Obama, let alone talk about him.

Joe said...

Lets be clear; Obama didn't push through anything. Congressional Democrats rolled Obama pure and simple.

Skyler said...

The Clintons are very engrossed with assisting China to our detriment. Beyond being communists, I couldn't say why.

She might wish to harm Obama, but she's more interested in furthering her own agenda. She's got time in the next few years to take him down, in her mind, while she cultivates a further relationship with the country that her husband gave ICBM technology to.

AH,
Be afraid, be very afraid. Calling Obama a snow pussy may put you on Ron "Goebbels" Emanual's enemies list. You may wind up being the victim of demonization and vicious diatribes from the propagandist machine running the White House. :)

To all of you who keep writing that "we're doomed" or "we're screwed" or words to that effect.

You should have been around here when Jimmy Carter was president. Now that was a mess.

Meanwhile, whenever globabl warming freaks gather it snows and whenever Barack Obama speaks the market drops a few hundred points.

Coincidence? I may have to rethink my atheism. :-)

Mess? That administratio with a Democratic majority was a toxic waste dump. Unemployment was way higher than it is today, prices were skyrocketing, terrorism was spreading while he entertained terrorists, and he virtually crippled the government.

Those were the good old days right. Dem president, Dem legislature, and Dem majority on the Supreme Court.

Big Mike said...

@Hoosier, I have seen platypuses (platypi?). Talk about making something with leftover spare parts! I wonder if it's descended from a mated pair of pets accidentally left behind by visiting space aliens?

Creationists often point to the Bombardier Beetle as an argument against evolution. I suggest that the platypus is an even stronger argument against Creationism, or at least against Intelligent Design.

Ummm there"s a connection here I think.

By the time Poland fries I could be whirling in a Teacup!

Gawd I love Obama why did I ever doubt him.

What is Mr. Barely afraid of? He's afraid of looking like a tool. Gordon Brown will be dignified, stolid, stoic British stock without the awkward pauses in his phraseology. Mr. Barely will look like a rank amateur in contrast to Mr. Brown, plus the fact that this New Global Deal policy will go over like a lead balloon and he doesn't want to take the heat for it when it fails at the podium-to-podium. Kabuki. All of it.

Question Day in the Commons provides a great training medium.

British PM's may be wrong headed, but they know how to handle hostile questions under pressure :)

Heh. Actually I kind of ripped that off an old Robin William's routine. He was talking about doing drugs back in the day and wondered.

"You think God gets stoned? Ever see a platypus? I think so."

Conspiracy theory of the day: Obama is deliberately doing things to cause the stock market to go down with the intent of wiping out people's 401ks, so the federal government can take that job over again completely.

(Nice theory, but Obama's too damn stupid and bumbling to actually do this. Truth is that he and his cronies have no idea what they're doing.)

- - - -

They hoped to see a president who loved freedom, industry, and capitalism, kept taxes low and kept them safe, but had a D after his name, and - if he was young and black - all the better.

Basically, they wanted Bush, but younger, cooler, blacker, glib-er and you know...not Republican, and not named Bush.

I love to watch the televised sessions of The House of Commons and Lords and watch the absolute organized mayhem that ensue from it. Watching the Prime Minister get grilled like a $6 burger is great, what is greater is when he can retort and deflect back and end up looking like a $40 Porterhouse. It's fabulous and frankly, The Empty Suit himself, Mr. Barely would looks sheepish, diminished, and insignificant under such a volley. He would be stuttering and stammering and praying for either his earpiece to whispering to him the right things to say or for a teleprompter to tell direct his cadence of speech. Like I said, he would look like a complete tool. I can't wait for this honeymoon to be over.

Methadras said...

So was I even though I was a kid, but I also know even back then how he was completely reviled and weak. And now when I look back as a total historical context of the Carter Legacy I see nothing but abject indecision, micromanagement, failure, and most of all a type of delusion that Carter imparted upon himself that gave people the impression that his intentions were good, but ultimately would end up a complete failure. And from the looks of it we are still living with his inadequacies today.

To make it worse is to see Carter romp around the world looking like the savior of mankind with his idiotic books and his complete disregard for the traditions that ex-presidents don't interfere with their current counterparts. He's the ultimate tool and guys like Gore and Obama are nothing but mere students to his fecklesness and stupidity. To think that Jimmy Carter was awarded a Nobel Peace prize is offensive, but then again the Nobel process certainly took a kick in the nuts when they gave one to Arafat, but I digress. Mr. Barely is Carter II, but possibly to stupid to know it and if he does seeks to finish the job Carter started.

You know, I would have voted for that guy.

Ralph L said...

One good thing Carter did, aside from easing Reagan's path, was sign the 60% exclusion from taxation of long term capital gains, undoing the huge increase made in 1969. It didn't do his economy much good, because inflation was so bad, but it was the last time large numbers of Democrats voted for a tax cut that actually helped the economy grow, instead of pay off special interests or steer behavior.

The annual tribute paid to Egypt and Israel since Camp David has been a mixed blessing for all parties.
