The temptation to cover nudity.
BBC reports on another one of those mass nudity art happenings. You can scarcely blame artists for doing things like this when the media can't resist the temptation to cover it:

Saw a flier for one of Tunick's events a few years back, and joined with several thousand of my closest friends in Nevada's Black Rock Desert (the most naked fools he'd ever gathered in one spot, at the time).
It was really embarassing, until I realized that it was equally embarassing for everyone else. Then I realized that some people weren't embarassed but were in fact enjoying strutting around in that state, and I was especially embarassed for them.
That is a whole lot of bad naked.

I agree there. I have no problem with the idea of relaxing on a nude beach, but the idea of stripping down and being herded into ridiculous naked group poses--bleeech.

The disgust had to do with them being herded--I do find that grotesque (possibly because it calls to mind concentration camp images?)

So many different shapes and sizes... sounds beautiful. Sounds inclusive. Maybe that's the turnoff. Nakedness is honest. Maybe that's the repulsion.
In this very image-conscious superficial culture we live in, honest nudity is shocking, but if you ponder it, transformational. It's just nature. If you don't want to look at it, don't, but it's not shallow.
