"These schools did less to contain covid. Their students flourished."

An article in WaPo by Perry Stein.

Officials relied on a state constitution that gives school boards complete control over their schools. “We wanted it to be as normal as possible, and children wearing masks is not normal,” said Chris Taylor, president of the Lewis-Palmer school board. “The focus of the board was to give parents as much choice as possible — and children could wear masks if they wanted.”...

From the top-rated comment: "This article should be retracted. It is so misleading that Fox News would be proud to publish it."

This is one of those times I wish I still had a WaPo subscription so I could thoroughly appreciate why I dropped it.`

What was misleading about it? That seems to be the Leftists new weapon

. “This information is misleading.” Really? What is misleading about it? “It just IS! It could have been published by Fox News and Trump!” Ok, Groomer.

How are we going to hold progs accountable for the outrageous injustice they have done to children, particularly minority children?

Yes! The article SHOULD BE retracted! Truth can be misleading!
It's So Hard to continue on the path laid out by falsehoods, when The Truth is leading you astray
No one (NO One!) should be permitted to issue True statements. Only LIES are Allowed

This outcome is par for individual and community immunity developed in low risk cohorts. That said, there is no scientific support that wearing masks mitigates viral infection or transmission. Aside from excess deaths in the planned parent/hood cohort, the viruses that cause Covid-19, 20, 21, and 22, were not contained, but rather evolved under a mask, under pressure, with limited safe sanctuary, in darkness, until they were no longer a viable burden by Her Choice.

Serious question.
in a few years, will ANYONE, Any one at all,
admit to having been in favor of lockdowns/mask mandates/social distancing/etc ?

The schools that did not follow the dictats of the Branch Covidians have kids that are doing better than the Kids the Branch Covidians tormented and used as pawns?

The mask mandates caused more disease than they stopped. The lock downs drove anxiety and obesity rates much higher.

And there will be more masks in the ocean than plastic straws now.

The branch covidians are just shitty people.

Because Fox News is the only outlet that will report the truth??? TDS is strong in that area. They really all need to get help, because their hate is threatening our well-being as a country.

I used to hear lefties say "Trump lies all the time", and I waited to hear them explain the lie yet it was just a statement with no support. I figured it was just intentional rhetoric that they didn't truly believe. Now I think they actually believe it, but they still can't even explain it to themselves. They just take it on faith.

From the other thread: "Stop the war

The problem is that the Russians believe the propaganda and will fight against the truth. Just like the Washington Post readers believe the BS that has been sold to them and will militantly fight against the truth when it is told to them, as well as label the truth-tellers as Nazis.

Why should they be held accountable? In fact, why shouldn't you and others just surrender to them?

MadisonMan said...

It seems like all the WaPo commenters assume that the kids took COVID home to their families -- as if children are the main vectors with this disease, which does not align with facts.
I do agree that comparing an affluent Colorado school with the decrepit schools in Democratic Strongholds such as Chicago or New York is unfair. Perhaps they should be compared to schools in, say, Vienna VA.

OK, I'll confess. My wife and I are in our late '70's with serious health problems. We did whatever the boffins told us to do, because they said that if we didn't, we'd DIE!!! So we followed their rules, and we didn't DIE!!!

If they were lying to us, or even just wrong, then we missed that dinner at The French Laundry for NO REASON !!!

Darn.

Our schools here in small-town IN were shut down from Mar to June 2020. They reopened in Fall 2020 with better ventilation and a virtual option for kids who wanted it.
There haven't been any major school outbreaks - most spread seems to have happened because of slumber parties outside of school, or huge weddings.

By winter 2021 exposure quarantines stopped happening-- the state board of health had crunched the data and found that all quarantines were doing was isolating healthy kids. After vaccines, vaccinated kids got to drop the mask except for brief periods of high community spread with Delta and Omicron.

One difference in my area is that teachers pretty much HATED virtual school and don't think it's as effective, especially for classes like AP Chem. Plus, they're also parents and saw how the shutdown hurt their own kids. So they were in favor of reopening ASAP, and as a result, the kids here are in pretty good shape. The loudest voices against reopening here were all non-parents.

Schools could have been open everywhere if people considered what kids and parents needed. But it wasn't really about 'protecting the children.' It was about a secular religion where the magnitude of your fear was how you signaled salvation... A sort of secularist fear ethic to replace the old protestant work ethic.

Tactic #1: Pay attention to the school board races the next time you vote. They should be as important to you as your vote for Congress at least.

Tactic #2: Exercise choice. Enroll your kid in a charter. Enroll your kid in online school if they did better that way. (Many did)

Tactic #3: Talk to your kids about school every day. What did you do today? What did you learn? If you disagree with what was taught, tell your kids why. If it's really outrageous, go to the administration. They're cowards and will throw the teacher overboard every time.

Tactic #4: Go to the school board meetings, bring your friends and make your will known. Attend and speak often enough they get to know your name. If the board ignores you, see tactic #1.

What’s odd is that the approved narrative flipped in the last few weeks. It’s now OK to question the effectiveness of masking school kids — avoiding disaster in the midterms may depend on it. Evidently that WaPo commenter isn’t keeping up with the Times.

One nice thing about Covid is it’s revealed for anyone who cares to look which states and municipalities function on behalf of their people vs those whose civic and public institutions have been captured by folks with another agenda altogether. It’s never been clearer for anyone who cares to look. NYC where I’ve been more or less my whole life is a shithole prison of a place largely populated by zombie NPCs from out of town and run entirely by puppets controlled by people who don’t give a shit about NYers, while some places upstate disregarded or contested the worst excesses this fake regime tried to impose on us and especially our children. Here institutions and groups supposedly independent of the state all embraced the worst excesses from force vaxxing newborns to masking kids to this day. I don’t know that anyone will ever be, can ever be held accountable for this atrocity, but even targeted revenge will be nice.

No, no one will admit that. They will find a cherry picked outlier and use that to answer any questions about it. Like their current propaganda about 9000 oil leases that the unpatriotic oil companies will not drill on.

Anyone with a brain knows that there is another side to this story, but the journolist is alive and well. They have their talking points.

These people that bitch endlessly about Fox News are projecting how they put 100% faith in their news sources. But of course they’re not self-aware enough to see that. Which adds to the ironic stupidity of the whole thing.

Imagining that your news source is 100% truth and objectivity but that other awful news source is nothing but lies and propaganda … is dangerous and delusional, and makes one a puppet susceptible to all kinds of manipulation, which we have seen play out for several years now.

It’s been amusing to watch for 20 years now, and still as dumb as ever. But sure: sick burn, bro!
