If you cluster the women in one place, you foster the opinion that this work is women's work.

Communications... you know how women are.

We men will make the decisions and hash out the difficulties of policy. The women will put our thoughts into words that the little people will understand.

You know how good women are with little people — children... the weak... the deplorable.

ADDED: This is an important correction to that "first time in history" business, but it reinforces and heightens the feminist point that I made:

Oh good. Jen Psaki is back to reprise her role as Mildred Gillars.

When I see the list I think, well sure, women can lie better than men. We tend to want to believe women. (believe ALL women, heh). We look at them and want to believe that they would not lie, that they are honest and because they have larger hearts and are not weighted down by toxic masculinity, can say things that need to be said, in a more kind and inclusive way.

This will be a comedy show of lies, propaganda, and misstatements presented as expert level information. Not that I have low expectations or anything, but I've seen this show already.

Female only workspaces are okay? The Biden team is forcing us to think about sexual harassment and boys' clubs. We need to be reminded nonstop that men are rapists and pigs. Anyways, maybe Biden is also saying that male only spaces are okay? If so, why not segregate boys and girls in public schools? Boys, especially boys without fathers, should be restricted to socializing solely with other boys (we don't need anymore unwed teenage moms). Boys need to relearn gender norms. (I've got a ton of single mother tenants and their sons are all a little bit off.)

Other thoughts. Are some of the women on the communications team men who identify as women? Does that count as female only? And do these women have comedic, relatable personalities?

1) Everyone knows that women who work for Republican/conservative operations aren't counted as "women."

2) Another level of sexism: women are preferred for these sorts of communications roles because any time they are challenged by a reporter, especially one from a neutral/conservative perspective, the picture of a troglodyte conservative being mean to an enlightened, modern woman will be painted. If you don't think that's a big part of the thinking, you haven't spent much time around communications professionals.

Symone D. Sanders is an Omaha native and (unfortunately) a graduate of Creighton University. She's really an embarrassment to Creighton as she was poorly educated there.

She wrote a book titled, "No, You Shut Up." In her book she stated that she interned for federal judge Patricia Lamberty. I know Pat Lamberty. Her office used to be across the hall from mine. Good judge but she was a state court judge.

To make matters even worse, she also interned during college at the Fraser Stryker law firm. Its offices are catty corner from the county court house. The county court house was built around 1910-20. The jail used to be on the top floor. A black man was pulled from the jail and lynched. A person could not mistake the state courthouse from our Roman Hruska Federal Courthouse. Hruska courthouse is a palace. Completed in 2000 and it has 350,000 square feet.

She claimed she "sat in on depositions" with Judge Lamberty. That never happens with a judge either in state or federal court.

In other words, Sanders is a liar. A casual liar.

There's a reason to put women in tangential staff jobs like Comms and HR.

When anyone complains that women aren't in real jobs, they can point to all the women in Comms and HR and say how important they are.

HR & comms are important, but they are staff. They are not Defense, State, Treasury or other jobs that really matter. Those jobs are reserved for men. The women are just there for show.

And these are the two highest-ranking "heads" in the department.

What are they really communicating with those headshots?

That's easy. White women are best-in-class trained like pissing puppies to submit to WOC. The Biden campaign, well-schooled in diversity dictat, scrambled the arrangement of the women rather than organizing them hierarchically, which would also be normal, and also had the two gingers look demurely away because they're terrified somebody is going to notice they put two gingers in superior positions to WOC.

I get where you're coming from, but it's outdated.

When you see a press secretary speak for a major politician or government agency or corporation, there's practically an army of strategic communications apparatchiks behind her who have tried to shape every focus-group-tested word. And those pressers are a fraction of the messaging strategies developed across all kinds of platforms these days. Scott Adams has a saying, "your opinions are assigned to you," and this is what he means. The executives who run these shops are major domos in any organization of significance.

Ask Facebook and Twitter about the unimportance of communications.

(I'll add that the professions described by "communications" are heavily weighted towards women--just check out college majors in journalism, liberal arts, and.... communications. Public relations, of course. I work in what I'll loosely call a communications shop; most are women, and most of our new hires over the past decade have been women, by a mile. So this is increasingly normal staffing, despite the parades we throw when women do perfectly normal things.)

After 4 years of knowing exactly what's on the presidents mind whether it's good, bad, or ugly, we're returning to the old normal of meticulously crafted messaging that obscures the truth. The cause of the fire is Socialism, lady. Just like it causes destruction of evidence here. It buys off crooked officials, it burns down cities and it steals elections. And eventually, it puts take-out windows on dumpsters.

The thing I find most amusing about this is the assumption that "women's work" == "inferior work"

In the 70s, feminists wanted to have "real jobs" and live "real lives", which mean they wanted to work, screw, and just generally be like men.

Now? Now they're "non-binary".

Why is it that women so hate being women?

Oh, Lord, "The Office of the President-Elect".

There is no fucking "Office of the President-Elect"! A bunch of kids could get together in a tree-house & call themselves "The Office of the President-Elect" & it would be just as official. That's some stupid shit that the Obama-ites made up & the press just let them skate on it. Of course. The status of the "President-Elect" is very murky under the Constitution (e.g. what's the succession order should the President-Elect die), and the PE has no official role in the government. Right now, the "Office of the President Elect" only official status is as a GSA work order.

And to use the Presidential Seal! What nerve! I worked for the Executive Office of the President for 8 years & consulted back twice after. If I used the seal as part of my advertising for my company, the government would come after me with a cease & desist order. In my time at the Executive Office, more than one vendor was told to get the seal off their advertising.

Don't even get me started on the fact that the electors haven't voted yet.

YH, I wondered about the OPE myself, and commented about Biden dusting off the podium that Obama used.

As it turns out and you know better than I, there is a status but it's not clear.

Unfortunately for my own prejudices, the seal and trappings of the OPE, while invented by BHO in 2008 out of thin air, were also adopted by Trump in 2016. That I recalled Obama's farce and not Trump's just means that I actually watched some of Obama's bloviations at the OPE podium, and none of Trump's.

OPE is stipulated in Emanation Eight of the Penumbras Clause of the USC

Not even a wee bit of a question re the truthfulness? From the DJT admin? You know, so you don’t look like you have been fooled, if not because promoting fake news is not a good idea in any situation.

Anywho, according to Althouse’s logic VP-ing is now woman’s work. And economics is woman’s work, with some dudes around as diversity hires.

Sheesh.

P.S. When Althouse reads this post as part of her podcast will she repeat Kayleigh film flam? So embarrassing to be so easily (eagerly?) fooled.

The report I read said that women hold somewhere around 70% of HR positions.

That's when I knew the whole narrative about women being paid $.77 on the dollar compared to men was bullsh*t. Can you imagine the conspiracy of silence maintained by that many women who had access to their own company's payroll information?

Cluster is such a nice word. Here's a little ditty that Handel set to music (words by Gay, Pope, and Hughes):

Polyphemus (yeah, that one) sings of his love for the nymph Galatea:

O ruddier than the cherry,
O sweeter than the berry,
O nymph more bright
Than moon-shine night,
Like kidlings blithe and merry.

Ripe as the melting cluster,
No lily has such luster,
But hard to tame as raging flame,
And fierce as storms that bluster!

Attack lying vs. fawning? Do these "news" reporters know any other tricks?

I spent yesterday reading Mollie Hemingway's "Justice on Trial" about the Kavanaugh appointment. She names people who said really partisan and stupid things--all of them in the "fourth estate." If these "news" hacks did this all the time, it would be one thing, but the waste product they generate only flows in one direction.

Lurker21 said...

Let's say for the sake of argument that having women in every senior position is really some big deal.

Why is not having any men in that department to be considered an achievement? Is that really something anybody wants to boast about?

Arguably, getting guys to answer the phones for their woman bosses earns more feminist gloat points.

As I said, it's interests. Say you're a woman economist, for example today's econtalk podcast

Economist and author Emily Oster of Brown University talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about the challenge of reopening schools in a pandemic. Oster has been collecting data from K-12 schools around the country. Her preliminary analysis finds little evidence that schools are super-spreaders of COVID. She argues that closing schools comes at a high cost for the students with little benefit in reducing the spread of the disease. The conversation ends with a discussion of parenting.

DanTheMan,

90% of on the job fatalities are men.

Assuming that's the number of people who died while "on the clock," the true disparity is probably even bigger. People do occasionally drop dead on work time for non-work-related reasons, and I'm assuming that men and women are equal in this regard. Subtract them, leaving people who died on the job because of specific work-related dangers, and that will skew even higher towards men. Apart from prostitution and (now) policing, all the very nasty, high-death-risk occupations I can think of are large-majority-male, sometimes to the practical exclusion of women.

One of these years, I'd like to see someone try actually to "fix" this, to mandate that women get 50 percent of all the jobs. I mean all. They will be half of your construction crew, half of your sanitation crew, half of the divers who search for your child that fell in the river, half the firefighters, half the repo (wo)men, half the mechanics, half the locksmiths, half the people servicing oil rigs, half the lumberjacks, half the butchers, half the fisher-er-persons. Half the exterminators, half the sewer maintenance people, half the concrete-pourers, half the steel-pourers, half the bridge-designers.

Meanwhile, men will be half the retail clerks, half the massage therapists, half the elementary-school teachers, half the nannies, half the hotel cleaning staff, half the people manning(?) the fragrance dept. at Macy's, half the flower arrangers, half the feng shui specialists.

I think the women would find, in short order, that being in a "male profession," especially a largely-outdoor one or one that entails dirty fingernails, isn't really for them; while the men would rapidly get bored. The women are likely bored already, but their boredom comes attached to a nice indoor environment, not much accountability, and a steady paycheck, so that's OK.

Because nothing says empowerment and self-respect like being an affirmative action appointee. And even if chosen on merit, proving that you can be just as much a brainless cog in a political PR machine as any man is not exactly a great achievement.

The three big identity movements (blacks, women, and gays) have undergone an interesting trajectory. They've all essentially won. And on a massive scale. All three group have been assimilated into the wider social structure. Most of the members recognize this and have gotten on with living their lives. What's left is a small contingent of dykes, Jewish neurotics, and ambiguous ethnics.

I come from a long line of Florida cracker hellcats. Women who a century ago were tougher, feistier, and more hard-headed than anything being produced by contemporary liberal feminism. They had tremendous respect for the power and responsibility of the matriarch in maintaining the family fortress that nourishes and protects against the vicissitudes of life. They never tried to be as good as men. They tried to be as good as women.

Joe Smith said...

She argues that closing schools comes at a high cost for the students with little benefit in reducing the spread of the disease.

Quite the opposite. Slow the spread or whatever came at a forward-looking cost of community immunity that reduces infection vectors and increased risk for the most vulnerable. After the third month, we knew the risk profiles. We knew that the disease in children, in particular, was unlikely to progress. The restrictive mandates, any social gathering, where diversity is greater than one, over time and space, is a potential spreading event. I suppose it's easier to monitor groups of ten, rather than ten meetings over a day, a week. And, of course, transmission modes matter.

I have a modest proposal: For every man that dies on the job, randomly execute a working woman to make the numbers even out. Women could be exempt from the Fatal Employment Equity Lottery (FEEL) by remaining home and taking care of the house.

I'm certain there could be no objection to such a reasonable and fair proposal. :)
