Instapundit threatens to link-starve BuzzFeed.

"The Buzzfeed folks should also be concerned that folks on the right will be less willing to link them in the future, if they’re perceived — as I believe they increasingly are — as lefty agitprop shills."

They put "feed" in their name. Links are the food.

UPDATE: Instapundit objects to my paraphrasing.

"Increasingly desperate about the shift in preferences toward Romney..."

It is eerily convenient, isn't it?

Keep in mind what that Journolister said when Obama was in trouble the first time. Pick a Republican, any republican, doesn't matter who it is, and accuse them of racism. They're not above such tactics, by any means.

So says the righty agitprop shill.

Fuck Glenn Reynolds.

Aside from the political things, which are always vicious and reliably stupid and utterly hopelessly mangled, they're rather funny, it's the type of content my friends send me all the time. Puppies and such. Most of it I just toss.

Where do you think I got the alien hummingbird 'take me to you feeder' joke? Reddit, that's where. Like 6 pages into their hummingbirds, finally, something different.

But my relatives send the opposite material as reddit, all religious and patriotic, treacly jingoistic preciously Christian, I don't know where they get all that crap, honestly it's wearisome, and never original material either, if only it was something directly out of my sister's mouth, they circulate it to each other through church contacts I think, I don't know anyone else up there on the mailing lists.

I don't count Politico or RCP much in the way of credibility and I usually don't go to the sites.

Do the same here.

Christopher,

I see that Crack is still angry about not getting the linky-love.

Shit, watching this megalomaniac routine of threatening other bloggers is like watching the Kill Bill movies, and finding them big, bloated, soulless, and utterly without merit.

Here - I'll make the point clear:

Ann, I am formally requesting to be taken off of your blog roll.

If the world ends, I'll let you know.

Later, Fools,...

And if you’ve noticed that I’m going out of my way to name names here, you’re right.

Linking a false flag op to a name could be devastating to a guy in the image business.

Unless he believes he will not be punished...
The internet is unforgiving however.

Once its on the net... its a life sentence.

Next time... this guy could claim he has discovered something truly treacherous... but upon a cursory internet review his names pop up linked to false flag ops... he might have trouble getting peoples attention.

Leads me to believe... is it possible this Buzz guy in on the take with the Obama campaign?

Anything is possible with the Obama bunch.

Ah, who gives a shit? Barack Obama only got elected because of his race. His proxies are telling us we must re-elect him because of his race. (Saw a story yesterday about potential riots if one or the other candidates lose. Yeah, the Mormons are going to trash Salt Lake City if their guy loses. Uh-huh. I bet we see more of that if Obama continues to trail in the polls.)

So some people want to elect a white man just because he's white. Big fucking surprise there! Blacks want to elect a black man just because of his race. Big fucking surprise there, too! I'm sure Indian-Native American* lesbian anarcho-syndicalists want to elect Indian-Native American lesbian anarcho-syndicalists instead of plain white (or black) lesbian anarcho-syndicalists to office.

I went to the Romney rally a few weeks ago in Sarasota FL. Huge happy crowd, and a handful of "protesters" heckling the folks in line, parading the now-cliche' papier-mache' puppet Romney, and playing to every photographer in sight. One feisty "activist" kept cutting into line, finally annoying people enough that one old gent gave the kid something akin to the Vulcan neck-pinch...and of course photographers were there to record it. Before I even got home, the story was already up on Buzzfeed. A thirty-second non-event was their whole story.

There were no consequences, as far as media post-debate analysis, for Crazy Joes buffoonery at the debate.

A sense of invulnerability could lead the Obama campaign to try bolder things.

Yesterday, I decided I'd had it with email forwards, which are universally awful. So I emailed the person who sends most of them to me, and said, basically, "These are always ridiculous and wrong. Why do people make up crazy things to forward around instead of forwarding good things around?" Then I collected some images and posts that were worthwhile and emailed them, each as a discreet forward, to that person so that they could be sent around instead of the garbage.

No word yet on whether Political Math can catch on like stories claiming Obama is Muslim.

Freeman Hunt said...

Someone sent my grandmother an email forward saying that honey and cinnamon cure all sorts of diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Grandma: "Can this be true? I'm very skeptical."
My mother: "No, it's not true that honey and cinnamon cure all those diseases. Some can only be cured by maple syrup and nutmeg, others by Karo and allspice."

Heh. My mother is funnier than I am.

KCFleming said...

Shocking rumors are often much less interesting than the truth.

But rumors are easy and truth, like math, is hard.

As for the lie-it-forward crowd like those at Buzzfeed, remember to starve a clod and feed the clever.

Professor, you view that comment as a 'threat'?

Why?

If Buzzfeed is turning into smear artists for Obama not linking to them isn't a threat it's a reaction.

tiger said...

From CrackEmcee: ' I am formally requesting to be taken off of your blog roll.'

The rest of the reasonable people can only hope you are serious in this request.

Your anger, belligerence and hatred toward people who disagree with you politically is disturbing and uncalled for especially considering how people like you wrap themselves in the 'Flag of Tolerance'.
Your and the Left's, claim of 'tolerance' is truly one of the biggest lies perpetrated on the American public.

@ rick:

America's Politico is a spoof. AP is a hoot! Reminds me of Jim Treacher's old alter ego, Puce.

Crack, on the other hand, is a jerk. Used to admire much of what he wrote until his obsession with Mormons crept in here.

And me, an atheist!

Ann Althouse said...

"Ann, do you consider it a legitimate threat or an illegitimate threat?"

I think it's a pushback, letting BuzzFeed know that there is a dynamic to the internet and if they do things like that shirt thing (and that Ryan gets testy thing) that people who aren't on the left will stop linking.

Some people criticize me for linking to the NYT.

I link to what's interesting, but I would be inclined to avoid BuzzFeed if I thought they were putting up toxic, unfair material, and I'd approach it with a different attitude if I thought that they weren't fun-loving and varied, if I thought the cool stuff was sugar-coating to a lefty agenda.

As far as Crack asking to be taken off the blogroll, I took that as a serious request. If it was just a joke...

Blocksite Plus firefox addon will let you specify which websites to block automatically. Frankly I like it because that way I don't waste my time with sites with no remaining credibility.

Some bloggers provide more value than others. If Buzzfeed chooses to provide content that isn't valuable, then they can join Newsweek and the rest of the Legacy media in bankruptcy and irrelevance.

It's all about choices.

Apparently Ann to him seriously. As for Reynolds, his blog is just that, his. Its up to him to decide who he wants to link to, just like Ann and her blog. No blogger is obligated to link to another.

I used to like Crack's posts. Even went over to his blog a number of times. He seems like a very interesting and strong-minded fellow.

However, for the last six months or so, he has been getting much, much crankier and less rational.

What's up, Crack?

ed, there actually is such an extension: Greasemonkey. One of the commenters over at Protein Wisdom used it to write an app called Trollhammer. It would require Ann to make changes to her website to enable it, but it allows you to not see anyone's comments -- and bring them back if you think they've learned better.
