NASCAR vibe sacrificed by Democrats.

Would they have located the convention in North Carolina if they knew they wouldn't be able to do the Charlotte Motor Speedway event?

If they thought they were going to attract that demographic then they have no business convening anywhere.

It's always something. Damn those political trade offs.

Would they have had their convention in Charlotte if they knew the NC Democratic Party was going to implode due to scandal?

(This is an obvious set-up for an obvious series of jokes.)

The South is not racist anymore, but Axelrod wanted to stage set southern traditional life to highlight Obama's only accomplishment. That was getting the racist tag eliminated from the south and the independents for voting for smiling Barry Black President...and that we had better remember to keep voting that way or else.

But southerners are really not dumb. We know that Marxist revolutions never help anyone. Only yankees in Boston and Berkeley can be that stupid.

No bullshit tag because it's not civility bullshit but just the regular bullshit?

I'm not that good with tags. On mine they come out the same as titles.

"he Democrats will receive a $50 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security to defray police costs for the Sept. 4-6 convention"

"Republicans will also receive a $50 million grant for their four-day convention in Tampa, Florida"

What bullshit and pox on both their houses. If the Republicans had ANY integrity, they would turn down the grant.

Remember when the great Howard Dean went after NASCAR dads? A NASCAR dad wouldn't vote Dem if you put a gun to their head. Of course, a Dem wouldn't have a gun.

Q.Why do they do it doggy style in the south?

A.So they can both watch NASCAR at the same time.

Hahaha.

Rusty said...

Why would Stevens suggest that? Who writes that way? Who believes in such awesome government power, including the power to punish speakers critical of the government?

It's the same bullshit, just rebranded to make you believe it isn't bullshit.
So you'll eat more of it.
Yum.

Nascar = left hand turns.

NASCAR vibe sacrificed by Democrats. Because their mojo was really working that NASCAR vibe as recently as the season finale at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Right?

Taxpayers are on the hook for $100M for the two conventions?

Money well spent. Not.

@Joe, Republicans do not have any integrity. Neither do Democrats.

What? Democratic budget cuts? If only they governed this way...

...and the thought of the day- imagining all those effete libs mixing with NASCAR fans...

...and racecar spelled backwards is racecar

Canceling is not about money though it is a good excuse. Actual reason - Obama cannot fill the seats and the charade must continue as long as possible.

The Charlotte Motor Spendway.

Well, it's their OWN MONEY, dontchaknow....

I would think that either party giving back the $50M Governmental largesse would be a huge PR victory. Imagine the fiscal vise you could clamp down on your foe if they're having trouble with fundraising!

I'm not so sure that's the reason. Their big event night, when the Bower In Chief accepts the nomination (sorry, Mick), will be held in the same stadium the Carolina Panthers play in; a large venue that seats somewhere in the neighborhood of seventy-four thousand.

The Greek Columns local could not be reached for comment.

MM, that supposes intelligence coupled with at least a small amount of principle. (They would have to be able to imagine the concept of giving money back, at the very least.)

Garage, What's the most difficult thing for a young man about being gay?

Telling your parents you're a Democrat.

"Labor organizations have been reluctant to contribute to the convention because Charlotte lacks unionized hotels and is in a state where compulsory union membership or the payment of dues is prohibited as an employment condition."

And throw in in identity quotas, food diversity quotas, victim status quotas. Its like a large liberal college running a major political party. And trying to keep all of their special interests happy at the same time.

As per usual, everything the democrats touch turns to shit. I wonder how many people the democrats will have to bus in to occupy otherwise empty seats just to avoid embarrassing themselves on TV.

Roger J. said...

Perhaps I disremember here, but I thought one major reason for selecting Charlotte was to try to ensure NC went democratic in November.

Chuck66 said...

Well, the $50M is for protection. I was in St Paul during the RNC gathering in 2008 and can tell you, leftwing deomestic terrorists were there.

A couple were arrested for making a bomb. A female police offer has a heavy sand bag thrown at her off of a bridge. Some delegates were assualted. An 80 year old bus driver was hospitalized after a large rock shattered his window.

I believe North Carolina has a very large hispanic popoulation. Aren't some towns or counties close to 50% hispanic?

Obama may be hispandering to them in NC with his open borders policey and having the DNC meet in NC.

BarryD said...

I'd love to see Obama give a campaign speech at a NASCAR race. LOVE. I'd pay to see that.

That's hardly their fault. They're just not genetically equipped to handle Southern food without becoming obese.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure anybody is.

They wanted to locate it in Philadelphia. But the extra 50 million for union members to plug in their extension cords ended that thought.

If they'd put the Greek columns at the end of the straightaway instead of at the exit of Turn 3, they wouldn't have had so many drivers running into them.

'"Whom among us doesn't love NASCAR?" - John Kerry'

All he heard about it was something about a bunch of white Southerners turning left.

Axelrod thinks he can win without white working stiffs.

He's about to learn how wrong he is.

In the immortal words of Ed McMahon, "You are correct, sir", but that's sure gone to Hell.

MadisonMan said...

Yes, I understand that. The two Political Parties throw a huge shindig to gin up their bases, and get them excited. And taxpayers foot the bill.

If my neighbors throw a MASSIVE party that requires police to come in and keep the peace, I should sit quietly and just write a check for the cost? I would actually expect the neighbors to fund the cost themselves, in its entirety. I realize this viewpoint is quaint and naive.

Tom Spaulding said...

Q.Why do they do it doggy style in the south?

So they can both watch MSNBC call the Wisconsin election at the same time.

Christy said...

Don't you think a goodly number of those damnyankee politicians just didn't want pictures of themselves at a NASCAR event? So declassé.

Scott M said...

There's been some mutterings that our illustrious Senator Clair Mccaskill is going to skip the convention in NC. It's not going to help her as she's going down hard in November, but I wonder how many other Democratic congresscritters are going to find that their schedules are too full to attend.

Jason said...

Dems are realizing that NC is going Republican this year. No more, no less. A massive fail of planning on the Dems part, but thats not surprisng.

If NC was still truly in play, Dems would spend the cash. Just like the recall election in WI - the DNC knew Barrett would lose, so he got no DNC money. Same applies here.

At the rate their fundraising is going, they are going to end up with a mixer at the local Elks Club!

That's why Obama is out every day raising money--he knows it's going to dry up as his ratings drop to the cellar.

Humperdink said...

Q.Why do they do it doggy style in the south?

So they can both watch an O Blame O signing ceremony in the White House rose garden. That way they each get screwed twice.

@Scott M
I heard just this morning that Claire is polling well behind any possible Republican candidate. I've been waiting for six years to vote her out.

So based on your commitment to integrity, that means you will not vote Democrat this year, right?
