something going on in Madison http://www.ustream.tv/channel/madtownannie
Hello! Thanks for sharing your sense of adventure through "Turkey Nation"--nothing quite like a brisk walk amid the sounds and sights of nature. Glad you guys survived the "Intimidator's" glare...and great comments relative to yesterday's football game. Congratulations to the Packers on their Super Bowl last year. Safe and Happy Holidays!
You're missing something special if you don't take walks at night in the winter. X-country skiing is something else that's nice at night as long as there's a light source, such as a big moon or distant city lights. Is the Arboretum "closed?" Who cares.
Speaking of warm lights, the Prophecy by Simeon made at the Temple presentation says, " Now, Master, You are letting your servant go in peace for my eyes have seen the salvation which you made ready in the sight of the nations; a light of revelation for the gentiles and glory for your people Israel."So the Holy Spirit speaking through Simeon said that Jesus would be a light to non-Jews who dwell in darkness without Him.
It does look like the beginning of the horror movie When Turkeys Attack! at the start.
@Sorun Fine, but we didn't have a light, and I don't want to be in the woods in the dark. We wouldn't even have been able to see the path.Plus... bears.
The purpose of the bike path lights is to coddle wimpy bicyclists in Madison who can't seem to handle owning a light and using it. Then, you prevent the police from arresting bikers without a light, and Presto! You've manufactured a safety issue. You drove right past Luigi's and didn't pull into eat! It's pretty good.

Then, you prevent the police from arresting bikers without a light, and Presto! You've manufactured a safety issue."They want to spend like $300,000 putting in lights that the people living next to the path oppose, when the path was put in after telling these people they wouldn't put in lights unless the property owners wanted them. It's pretty outrageous, and the crime scare is nonsense: there were 0 reported crimes on the bike path last year."You drove right past Luigi's and didn't pull into eat! It's pretty good."Really? I just checked Yelp.
I think the politicians want to put up lights just to point to something that they did, another amenity, a present that they bought for us... with our money.Because not buying things just doesn't make much of an impression. And they are trying to serve us. The rascals.
Yes, alders in Madison live to find a problem, even a manufactured one, and then delight in throwing money at it. It's not like Madison can claim to have a nice climate, or low taxes. So the only left to entice people to move here, generating demand for housing, and inflating the price of housing stock (to justify the high taxes), is to light bike paths, or something similar.I'm surprised at the Yelp! reviews for Luigis. I've been twice and enjoyed it far more than Pizza Bruta.
Jesus would be a Latin pitcher.. lol.. and lets prey the Sox would sign him. After that disastrous collapse maybe the Sox do need to come to Jesus ;)
In a more perfect union, Althouse would have to choose between bringing back the incandescent bulbs or men to give up their shorts.Althouse cannot have both!
Women good. Men who agree with women good, sorta.
Jesus would play football. As a carpenter, He was probably a pretty husky guy - Meade is letting all those Renaissance paintings color his image.Jesus was tough enough to chase the money changers out of the Temple and tough enough to give Himself up to be crucified. He may have turned the other cheek, but He was no wuss. And Ann is right about walking rough terrain in bad light. At our collective age, it's too easy to go down and get hurt.
I take it those turkeys are liberals by the way Althouse describes them--spooky and threatening to the lone daring conservative in Curtis Prairie. Since I live near there, and am a liberal, I take pleasure watching the turkey's take their morning stroll through my backyard. I am against the lights on the bike path, but know of several women who have been attacked when biking alone-- even in daylight.
"I am against the lights on the bike path, but know of several women who have been attacked when biking alone-- even in daylight."Were the several women biking alone, even in daylight, on that particular section of the bike path? By "several" do you mean more than two but not many?
The Extended Fall Turkey season in Wisconsin runs through 12-31. http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/wildlife/hunt/Turkey/fall.pdfYou still have time! I'm actually very envious as we only have a spring season in North Carolina. Must mean there are a lot of turkeys in Wisconsin.
When you said "Where's Meade?" around 1:45, I was thinking "I know! Let's split up and search the woods!"wv: dabush - you don't want to be caught out in dabush after dark.
Re: Meade's comment at 4:23, I'd also like to know what attacked means.
What is the recorder you are using to film with?
