Same conclusion I drew on seeing this announcement.
Gosh, will that be before or after he walks on water.Dear Rudy, we've already had a Savior.PS What is it about NYC politicians? Do they really feel they're that special?
Rudy had his shot (and I was very much a Rudy guy last time). Running on the strength of his 9/11 performance was something he could only do once.
So what Giuliani is saying is the current candidates can beat Barack Obama. I agree with that.
Yawn.I thought he was in New Hampshire recently stirring things up because he has a vendetta with Romney. But that could have been his only purpose.
I wish politicians who have national appeal but don't win a nomination would spend their time in another office or doing something that adds to their appeal. Sarah Palin, at least, has contributed sharply to the national dialogue. So many of the rest are just trying to run on their increasingly outdated record. I don't like Jerry Brown's politics, but I do respect the fact that he sharpened his record by being mayor of Oakland, then a lower state office, then ran for governor. He did something with his time.
Rudy Giuliani is, first, last and always...top to bottom...through and through...a shitheel.
Rudy can't win the nomination Neither can Romney. Nor should they. One should be attorney general and one can be secretary of the Treasury.I am sure Sarah or Michele will have no problem giving them those slots.
I don't like Jerry Brown's politics, but I do respect the fact that he sharpened his record by being mayor of Oakland, then a lower state office, then ran for governor. He did something with his time. You know, except actually having a job that wasn't taxpayer-funded.We need less career politicians, not more.
These guys are all narcissists. I like Rudy but this is not his best moment. Alan Greenspan said the only president he ever met who was a normal person was Ford.He also came up with Greenspan's rule that says anyone who is willing to go through the stuff necessary to be elected president should not be president.
I was a Giuliani supporter in 2008. But then I saw how he ran his campaign, and I decided he wasn't competent to run a country. This "campaign" makes 2008 look pretty good.I still think his New York record is pretty admirable, especially after we've had Bloomberg for contrast. But I start to wonder if five boroughs is all the territory he can comprehend. A whole country is too much for him to get his head around.
I would love to let Rudy loose on the Democrats with the power of the Justice Department behind him.Waddyatink? Ricco for those Wisconsin teachers? Looking into voting rights violations in the trunks of cars in Al Frankens next election? It will be a barrel of fun.
I don't like Jerry Brown's politics, but I do respect the fact that he sharpened his record by being mayor of Oakland, then a lower state office, then ran for governor. He did something with his time.He could have gotten a real job, like Paul O'Neill or Cheney or Rumsfeld or even McGovern who discovered what it is like to run a small business with government constantly in your way.
I would love to let Rudy loose on the Democrats with the power of the Justice Department behind him.I think Darryl Issa will handle that just fine when he is AG in the next administration.
Alan Greenspan said the only president he ever met who was a normal person was Ford.Ford didn't seek it. He was drafted. Maybe says something about the personalities of those who do seek it, assuming Greenspan is a good judge of it. While I'm thinking about it, does Greenspan qualify as a "normal person" himself?
Putz didn't run for governor!Which showed everybody how broken the republican party is, in New York State. It's really scuzzy-fava-beans.His flame went out.So did dubya's.But not as yet Karl Rove's.When the GOP isn't sucking completely, they're demonstrating they're the party of stupid people inside the tent. Pissing out.
Will he or will she is all that remains to be seen. Will Perry? I doubt it.Will Palin? I am sure she will.Did you see that Perry is being sued by a Wisconsin based atheist group to stop Governors from praying in public because if it works, that misleads people into having faith in prayer, and thus is an attempt to establish a National evangelical Church.
OT- "Gov. Dayton Agrees to Republican Budget to End Minnesota Shutdown"Slow but sure the left is going down.
Running on the strength of his 9/11 performance was something he could only do once.Wait. Giuliani was involved somehow with stuff on and after 9/11? I must have missed that.
He arrested all the homeless people. You guys in Madison are just catching up to that.Wisconsin is way behind the times there buddy.
And he believes he can beat Obama? Ha!! I think he is saying that the current candidates probably can't defeat Obama. That is true. Not a winner in the bunch, all duds. Now, if Christie were to enter the race, another story. I'd vote for him.No evangelicals dissing the gay people, nor any radical religious righties. Americans have more sense than to elect some evangelical nut bag, or someone who feels the need to make people sign oaths. I have to say, not a big Romney fan but I have renewed respect for him not signing the Santorum, Bachmann oath, stupid and counterproductive.Vicki from Pasadena
What is this "New York" of which you speak?
For anyone who wants Issa in office as President or as a member of a cabinet, beware. That dude has more skeletons in his closet than Clinton.Would never pass muster.Vicki
Yeah, not like that Mr. Clean we got in office nowNo skeletons in that closet, nosiree.
His '08 campaign strategy was horrible-- and by contrast, McCain's dogged toughing-out through to New Hampshire at least shows fighting spirit-- but it's not as bad as the Dardanelles and it's certainly recoverable. A brilliant executive leader, in peace and in war. He'd be great in a serious cabinet post, but he'd be a terrific President.
"You know, except actually having a job that wasn't taxpayer-funded."Well, sure, but one has to be realistic. We all know they're not going to get profit producing jobs. At least with Brown you know what he did with his days.
"For anyone who wants Issa in office as President or as a member of a cabinet, beware."How about that David Dreier guy? The Left would be ethically bound not to sort around in his closet? Right?
I think the East Coast forgets how different they are politically from the rest of the Country. In NYC, someone like Rudy is a hard-core conservative, in East Texas he's a communist.Rudy never had a chance. And he could never lie like McCain. "Lets just build the dang fence" - only Johnny McCain could pull that off.
