OK, my bad.Thought the cafe was downstairs.
You should have been out in the rain. That was brrr.Even the pups wouldn't go out in it.Shows you which animals are really smarter.
Heh.Looks like Minot.
edutcher said, "Shows you which animals are really smarter."That's the truth. It's also why the boys favor Mr. Irene.
"... you can hang around here all night."What? And listen to the Moody Blues?
No Kidding Synova. Have you read the American Thinker article?http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/06/the_purposeful_flooding_of_americas_heartland.html#disqus_thread
My in-laws live right on the Souris river and have evacuated. The topography there is very odd. I read a description of it for people who wouldn't know... the prairie, which is relatively flat, is well above the valley bottom where most of Minot is situated, which is unbelievably flat, but what it didn't mention is that the Souris river, which is pretty small, is well below the valley bottom. In order to "flood" it has to gain the 25 or more feet that it has gained in order to over flow the levies and river banks... but once it has, there is no "up" so that riverside areas are flooded first. The whole place floods because it is flat.25 years ago they rebuilt the river behind my in-laws house. They made it much wider and the banks less steep so that it would hold far more water, but the water is normally *way* down in the bottom of it.
Speaking of hanging around: Today one of the loves of my life returned to me.I returned to the skies of California as a hang gliding pilot. After being forced to leave it last year to win my second battle with da cancer, I was out so long that, I simply was too scared to try it again after so long out of practice. After a year and a half, I finally summoned up the courage to jump off a 3,500 ft. cliff and soar like a raptor over the San Gabriel Mountains again. It was glorious! The mountains, which were badly burned 2 years ago leaving nothing but charcoal and mud, have recovered to a lush green and are blooming with gusto in all the colors of the western wild flowers. Red-tailed hawks were flying with me as if to welcome me back. Most enjoyable was overcoming my fear as I launched myself all alone off of a mountain top in the late afternoon with a sweet 80 degree breeze and a sunny sky. It's good to be alive... just hanging around.
Thanks for the link, Nelson. It's likely the Souris would have flooded in any case. But the Missouri and what amounts to the greater part of our wheat growing areas?Maybe, maybe it would still be too wet to plant, but I've heard numbers up to 80% of wheat not planted and not *going to be* planted.Even if it's far less than that, FOOD is going to get expensive next year.Nevermind if my in-laws have to replace all of their carpets. People need to eat. And all I can say to the environmentalists and policies the article talks about is... why do they hate humans so much?
50 apes raid Walgreens in Chicago.http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/06/23/teen-mob-hits-walgreens-off-the-mag-mile-steals/I blame Sarah Palin
"The teenage robbery mobs are at it again..."That seems like a really stupid way to steal. One of the little bastards is gonna be easy to grab, and then they can be scared into ratting on the others. It's like bringing witnesses to your crime.See how bad the education system has become. Even criminals used to be much smarter.
We are supposedly coming close to the one millionth comment.Anybody keeping track were we are so far?Chances are it will be a first timer.
Just in case:Yaaaaa! I win the 1 millionth comment.Well, did I?
And so it goes. Too bad, that.
Will the new and fantastic Althou.se site allow us hoi polloi to post photos within the comment?
Will the new and fantastic Althou.se site allow us hoi polloi to post photos within the comment?Probably not.. Althouse said the site will be something like this.
No, the hoi polloi will not be able to post photos, but everyone else will. Sorry dude. Accept your place in the hierarchy. This IS class warfare. But, I know someone who is friends with someone else who can get you some juice in this matter. We just need a little donation to a bank account...

Don't ever quit fighting.
@bagohI chortled in joy over your most frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Bagoh, glad your battles with cancer and gravity (or fear) ended well!
Bagoh, I don't have any official authority but your hang-gliding comment should win comment post of the month. Thanks for sharing that! I can only imagine how amazing that was... the San Gabriels are something I'm only looking up at or driving into. Have you ever had any fun interactions with ravens while you're hanging about in the sky? They're often out there too having fun with flying, and seem to enjoy company.
@bagoh20, thanks for sharing. This one's dedicated to you.
