That room is in dire need of colorful and amusing posters hung with blue masking tape.
So, they are honestly letting Meade in as press? I mean...I've got a blog, can I get in?That seems ridiculous. OH - and because I can't resist - don't journalists have some sort of union that deals with credentials?
I want my MeadeTV.
I can't really explain it, but - damn - those are two cool shots.Real keepers.
"That seems ridiculous. OH - and because I can't resist - don't journalists have some sort of union that deals with credentials?"Why don't you sit quietly for an hour and think about the First Amendment?
@CrackThanks. It's what you get out of iPhone. The inferiority of the photography gets some interesting effects. And the immediacy gives some emotion to it, I think.
"That seems ridiculous. OH - and because I can't resist - don't journalists have some sort of union that deals with credentials?"As US Citizens, our "credentials" are Amendment I of the US Constitution. None other are needed.
No one else is covering it.
"Thanks. It's what you get out of iPhone. The inferiority of the photography gets some interesting effects."Does every meeting of the Wisconsin government begin with the Summoning of the Glowing Green Orb of Truth?
Get that man some fucking credentials. Meade is a fucking journalist, damnit. (I am pretty sure that my use of the word is as an adjective).
Actually C-Span 3 has it.They actually cut away from the UN voting to suspend Libya from the Human Rights Council.Whoopie!
Almost everyone is getting deep cuts except transportation. It's a good time to be a road builder."Invest a total of $5.7 billion on Wisconsin's transportation system, including a $410.5 million (14.7 percent) increase in highway funding over base amounts""provide $225 million for accelerating reconstruction of the Zoo Interchange to address immediate infrastructure needs, and $195 million to continue construction of the I-94 corridor between Wisconsin's border with Illinois and the Mitchell Interchange in Milwaukee.""Increase funding over base amounts by $59.1 million over the biennium for the Major Highway Program to advance currently enumerated projects and begin initial work on fou newly enumerated projects, keeping the percentage of transportation revenu bonding for the program at 42.2 percent"."Provide an additional $110.8 million base funding over the biennium for the State Highway Rehabilitation Program to meet increased costs and provide safe driving conditions on state highways."
Governor Walker got a dress?
"That seems ridiculous. OH - and because I can't resist - don't journalists have some sort of union that deals with credentials?"Why don't you sit quietly for an hour and think about the First Amendment.Do you think I can get into a press briefing in the whitehouse? Or a press briefing at miller park? Press box for the game? Or, do you think they check credentials and issue press passes? Don't intentionally confuse my point. See you in 20 minutes. haha.
Media credentials are issued by the organization holding/sponsoring/hosting the event; they do not come from any media union.
Poor higher education:"Reduce state aid by $250 million over the biennium to University of Wisconsin System institutions and the University of Wisconsin - Madison to help address the state budget deficit. The reduction would be split equally between the University of Wisconsin - Madison and the University of Wisconsin System."
Hey, how com half those chairs are empty?Oh.
Invest a total of $5.7 billion on Wisconsin's transportation system, including a $410.5 million (14.7 percent) increase in highway funding over base amountsReally?Crisis? What crisis? It'll be interesting to see what has happened to the proposal after it emerges from the Legislature.
James, or they come from news organizations, whatever those are, or they come from the police. So, three sources for press passes. Four sources, if you count my Photoshop.
What about garage's choo-choo? Have they mentioned the choo-choo?
Tax cuts for us, cuts for you! I Stand With Scott!
Ann did Meade stand in line or was he given special treatment? I know you and Meade have been very supportive of Walker.
What is the "Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation""Promote job creation by providing nearly $200 million to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and exempting from taxation capital gains that are reinvested in Wisconsin businesses"
What about garage's choo-choo? Have they mentioned the choo-choo?The version I am reading isn't searchable, but I have seen no mention of a choo-choo or a train.
Oh...and charter schools are hot.Licensing for charter school teachers, not hot.
Whether or not you agree with the policy decisions in the budget, Gov. Walker has the knack of sounding reasonable in this speech.
Walker has the knack of sounding reasonable in this speech."Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip."
How to get press credentials.. You can do it Meade!
Top photo is cool.
Right here... right now? No other place he'd wanna be?Watching the World Wake Up... from History??(wait, I think there's a song about that.)
Press credentials? They're for suckers. I'd sooner trust my next-door neighbor to cover an event than the 'bots in the MSM.My hat is off to Meade and Ann for taking the opportunity they've taken and provided a unique viewpoint.I've enjoyed the observations and always appreciate the probing questions. Thinking is good!
Invest a total of $5.7 billion on Wisconsin's transportation system, including a $410.5 million (14.7 percent) increase in highway funding over base amountsRoad builders' donations swung heavily to WalkerI know I know this could all be another coincidence.
"Does every meeting of the Wisconsin government begin with the Summoning of the Glowing Green Orb of Truth?"Ohhmmmm...(They're just trying to make the hippie chanters feel at home.)
Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that, among other things, the Zoo interchange is literally falling apart thanks to the billion+ raided from the transpo fund by Diamond Jim.
how's the smell?
One word to describe Walker and this speech-Sincere.***
Senator Mark Miller, Democrat Fleebagger, is giving the Democratic response to the budget address on TMJ4.From an "undisclosed location" in Illinois. Hilarious.
One word to describe the U.N. finally voting Libya of the U.N. Human Rights Council-Tragic.***
From an "undisclosed location" in Illinois. Hilarious.Damnit! This could be "gold".Is it streaming on the internets anywhere?
Not that I know of....it will probably be on their website.Fred Risser is now complaining about no mention in the budget about protecting natural resources.BTW, it would be very easy to find these senatora. Just wait on I-94 near the IL/WI border and follow the TV trucks leaving Wisconsin.
"Ann did Meade stand in line or was he given special treatment? I know you and Meade have been very supportive of Walker."Uh oh... I smell KOCH!!1
So, they are honestly letting Meade in as press? I mean...I've got a blog, can I get in? That seems ridiculous. The existence of officially certified "members of the press" seems ridiculous. It runs directly counter to the first amendment.
Uh oh... I smell KOCH!!1Me too, Koch paid commericals were just on my TV. I know I know, that's just another coincidence too!
Link to budget.I think if there's really a crisis, as stated so many times, that the Governor and Lt. Governor's offices would get more of a hit. And the Legislature as well. What's with DNR dropping like a stone and then bouncing back up in Year 2? Odd.It's high time to get rid of the Secy of State. Can they please pass a bill to that effect so we can get the Constitution amended?
Traingle Man 4:22,Doesn't the Walker Bill propose the following "controversial" element? It looks like Charters would not be bound by licensing. Good, in my opinion. "• Requiring that charter school teachers only have a bachelor's degree to teach, rather than a teacher's license."http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/117192683.html
From the text of Walker's speech:In addition, we will expand choice and charter programs to insure that every kid gets a great education – no matter what zip code they live in. We lift the cap on the number of students eligible to participate in the Milwaukee parental choice program and phase out the income eligibility limits. And across the state, we allow any University of Wisconsin system four-year campus to create a charter school.
And while we are talking about education, here is a fascinating look at innovation. Shattering myths on the education model: http://www.ted.com/talks/sugata_mitra_the_child_driven_education.htmlIt makes me feel good, knowing there are good people out there making a difference.
The sponsoring entity issues press credentials, and I am sure that by now the minions of State of Wisconsin have become aware of the Meadhouse blog.MM et al.Why do you think the State of Norway spends such large amounts of its oil revenue on boring tunnels and building bridges?
About the transportation expenditures, two points:Improving infrastructure is on of the major items the President called for in his budget message.I suspect most of the highway and bridge building contractors employ union labor. That's the way it is even in Georgia which is not known as a union-friendly state.
I went to Jack in the Box for lunch today. The car in front of me had an Obama sticker on it. I'm sure it was a coincidence.
Don't know if it's true, but some professors at Wisconsin's Madison University are threatening to strike next semester. Calling it the "failed semester."Since I was around when the campuses exploded back in the early 1970's, I know that you're always going to have another class coming in. Given that kids graduate high school. And, have applied.Back then? It was an "accelerated term." Limited amounts of college work. And, the kids were passed up a notch, to make room for the newcomers that were accepted. And, coming in.Good speech, overall. And, the republicans are in the majority. If the democrats think they are ahead, they've got our system confused with a parliamentary one. Where, yes, a bozo with just a minor assortment of chairs, is "bargained with" ... to get the extra vote.By the way, the bamster has been so negative, in general, I don't see his party getting back on track. That was once supposed to be the key. Obama promising to campaign for ya. Didn't exactly work out that well, after all.
Now, the time for talk is over. Time for Walker to hand out pink slips with little notices attached that they are being brought to the state worker being laid off with the compliments of the Fleebagger 14.What ever Wisconsin's deficit is, offset it by that many layoffs. Including the Capitol police who refused to carry out their jobs. After all, isn't Obama always blathering about all the police who are going to be losing their jobs? Wisconsin can use a few good ones, it seems. And if the Wisconsin State Capitol website says it is "open to the public" during the hours of 8:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m, why are crusty, dirty footed fat bastards still spending the night?
My neighbor regularly has pro-Democrat signs on his lawns. And his house -- unbelievably -- has a garage attached to it. Coincidence? The Man wants you to think it is a coincidence.
My husband went to the budget address and, while waiting to get in, was bothered by protesters, as was his coworker. My husband was asked repeatedly how he got a ticket to the address and if he "bought Walker off" in order to get one. My husband's coworker was subjected to an individual who stood right next to him asking, "Who beat YOU up as a kid?" over and over again.
Maybe Wisconsin has a governor like in New Jersey, someone willing to stop kicking the can down the road, able to be the adult who says the party is over and the credit card has to be cut into pieces.Yeah, the usual concerns about corrupt ties creep in. But it's a start. Gotta keep hammering away at it.
Trust me. This is just plain funny:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M3DLGP4UKQ
OMG it's almost like he's a politician too! Woooooot!1!1!1
We need to dissolve the current set of trolls and elect another.
I bet the Koch evildoers are paying for ads on this very blog! Heh.
Don't know if it's true, butReally? Then why mention it?(Pet peeve)
Carol said:"Don't know if it's true, but some professors at Wisconsin's Madison University are threatening to strike next semester. Calling it the "failed semester.""That's interesting. I suggest the profs consider calling it the "failed business model" because when four years of college costs 2 or 3 or 4 times the average American's annual salary, there is something very wrong with the model.
I like how Dr. Pogo's initials are an anagram of the company owned by Colonel Sanders. That's pretty cool.Bawk-bawk-bah-baaaawk-bawk!
Carol - it is probably true. Sheltered, cocooned college professors can make themselves believe and do the dumbest things and think the outside world will be on their side. [of course, I exclude Mad Man & Althouse from that group].
What makes Pogo such an awesome commenter is his special blend of 11 herbs and spices.
You guys sound like the old network news operations - back when they actually did news.Fred4Pres said...Get that man some fucking credentials. Meade is a fucking journalist, damnit. You might want to reconsider that theme.
mesquitoI'm not sure if I can get past the guy that says:I'm from a radical collective...*all sing songy*wait.....I kept it on while typing this:I work at Noodles a restaurant which is a dictatorship..Ha!
You're doing a great service that the MSM has forgotten how to do.
This might be a good time for Meade to make a career change. He'll have a lot of support from a lot of us commenters.
I work at Noodles a restaurant which is a dictatorship..That's definiteley the money-shot, madawaskan.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M3DLGP4UKQCorrect me if I'm wrong, but I think it was Lenin who said: "A Revolution led by total pussies will surely fail."
Man, Katie Couric really does not want to talk about Madison, WI.I think Gov. Walker must be winning.
Lenin who said: "A Revolution led by total pussies will surely fail.I dunno that could be Che, or "Pinky" aka Harry Reid.
Why the hell do they all sound like valley girls-?That's what I really want to know.
"Why the hell do they all sound like valley girls-?"Because they are just pussies?
WI Teachers' Pension Invested in Koch Owned-BusinessesI wonder if that boycott is still on? Hmmm.../waits for heads to explode
Get that man some fucking credentials. You need credentials for that? Who knew?
Well they sure do try to talk tough-Question: What does the Noodles' owner have to do?He must abdicate!
WI Teachers' Pension Invested in Koch Owned-BusinessesI wonder if that boycott is still on? Hmmm.../waits for heads to explodeTHERE. IS. YOUR. MOONBAT. PROTEST. DAGGER!
More recently, we have a former SWAT member throwing things at State Representatives, and we have a womanizing Assemblyman threatening a female lawmaker. If you’re a Republican strategist in Wisconsin, it doesn’t get much better than this. All in all, these tactics haven’t put a good face on Wisconsin’s Democrat Party and are probably adding to the resolve of the GOP.”I think Walker should announce he will wait indefinitely for these losers to come back from IL...
Dose wrote: ...don't journalists have some sort of union that deals with credentials?Walt Whitman, Ambrose Bierce, Don Marquis, and E.B. White need not apply.
Hagar:I have noticed the regular libs on Morning Joe seem to avoid the show when Chris Christie is on. It's like they know he will disembowel them in an argumentative sense.
WI Teachers' Pension Invested in Koch Owned-BusinessesahhaHAHahaha!BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
mesquito: that video is AMAZING. A person could dress a little "out there", add some over the edge inflection and facial expressions, *not change a word* and the rest of us would see it as a parody of what the left believes; satire. But it's not. Alinsky/Ayers would be proud of the public school that spawned this sadly messed up kid.
THERE. IS. YOUR. MOONBAT. PROTEST. DAGGER!Bwahahahahaha
Walt Whitman, Ambrose Bierce, Don Marquis, and E.B. White need not apply."Send lawyers, guns, and mo...eeeeerkkkkgaaaaaa..." - Ambrose Bierce, reporting live from Mexico
Nor did Brian Williams or Diane Sawyer.
WI Teachers' Pension Invested in Koch Owned-BusinessesIt is just a coincidence! Really!
mesquito: that video is AMAZING.Indeed. All MUST look at it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M3DLGP4UKQ
Walker speaks. Civil governance goes forward. The Thugs Fail!
"For example, I work at Noodles, a restaurant, and basically it’s a dictatorship there. Uh… we’re told exactly what we’re gonna cook, how we’re gonna cook it, what time we’re gonna get there, and basically if they don’t like what they’re (sic) doing, they try to tell us what to do. If we don’t listen, then they get rid of us. And so we’re not able to actually cooperate in a way that we make decisions together I try to convince my fellow employees that we should have a union at Noodles so it’s a source of power to start with. And then I think in terms of the bigger picture that when you look at revolutions, the way that you actually get rid of any sort of dictatorship, um, is by having workers take control of the place where they work."I wet'em when he said that.
He had me at "For example, I work at Noodles..."
I think there is one place in the vid where I agree with them-We must commit ourselves...Oh ya buddy!
he way that you actually get rid of any sort of dictatorship, um, is by having workers take control of the place where they work."Yeah, that's exactly how it works in Catro's Cuba...
The transcription, which I brutally expropriated, is by Elaine, a commenter at PJ Tattler.http://pajamasmedia.com/tatler/2011/03/01/video-noodles-revolutionary-worker-dude-resents-being-told-how-and-when-to-cook-the-noodles/
mesquito, that was one of the most frightening and hilarious videos ever.He needs a big ole whap upside the headbone, but I doubt it'd help. That cranium's so fulla mush mought as well try an teach a cat to drive.
Doesn't it get worse at about the 4:24 mark-What's your "vision" for Noodles?
OK cripes now I'm pinching Elaine's transcription:******Interviewer: Would your plan, your vision for Noodles, would it include the owner? What capacity would he be granted?Rob, the moron: If the owner wanted to cooperate with us as an equal, and provide his skills that he had, we would definitely cooperate with him. He’d have to abdicate his position as being an owner and controller of us and he would have to recognize that we run Noodles together, and, basically, if he doesn’t want to cooperate with us, he’s against us.*********Never mind that the owner-like "owns" the place.
I can imagine him saying: "Noodles noodles noodles that's all we ever make! Who elected him king?"Also, I am saying a prayer for that dope's parents and the families of the other socialist losers except for the evil professor Gasper.
Well, I guess Althouse's latest post tells us why the broadcast news do not want to talk about it!
"recognize that we run Noodles together"This encapsulates his dreary dishwater marxism, a stupidity so thorough, so utterly devoid of thought, so box of rocks and hammers and dead cats dumb, so lacking in reality, that one wonders how he can get dressed in the morning.Surely his legs revolt when his brain tells them exactly where they're gonna walk, how fast, and what time they’re gonna get there, and basically tell them what to do.
Max: You'll be carrying the stink of the streets with you for the rest of your life! Noodles: I like the stink of the streets. It makes me feel good. And I like the smell of it, it opens up my lungs. And it gives me a hard-on. (Once Upon a Time in America,1984)
Re: Noodles:I would give a months salary to be that moron's Chef for one Saturday dinner service. For example, I work at Noodles, a restaurant, and basically it’s a dictatorship there.Amazingly, if a very roundabout way, Rob the Moron is correct. Restaurant kitchens are dictatorships; they're designed to be that way. It's called the "Brigade System" for a reason. Professional kitchens are dictatorships in the way armies are dictatorships. This is what is known as "a good thing."The Chef is most certainly in charge. We cooks have an old saying: "If Chef tells you to piss in the stock, piss in the fucking stock." The Chef's word - like that of a ship's captain - is law. It's how kitchens operate smoothly. I'm astounded that this puss brained shoemaker has failed to grasp this vital concept. Even the unionized kitchens I've worked in understood the necessary hierarchy inherent in cooking. Myself and my fellow cooks would have tossed this asshole in the dumpster after his first day.
Chef Mojo kills me.
