Mr. and Mrs. Smith came out years ago, this publicity stunt has gone on for far too long. Do they really think this buzz will help them sell more DVDs?

They were selling olive trees at today's farmers market. They were a lot less than what Jolie paid for hers. It must be sickening being famous sometimes. When you make a grand gesture, everyone wonders if it's for real or only for the press.

Cicero's wife and tree joke turns out to be about a fig tree, not an olive tree, so I won't cite it.

Academic footnotes always have "joke" with quotes.

I feel so used. I clicked on both gossip rag links and didn't get to see a picture of a tree.

After what Sandra Bullock tried, I'm surprised Angie didn't want to give him a lip transplant or something.

Of course if they do break up and she gets the house in France, then she just bought herself an olive tree.

I thought I was following a link to the garden center that sold her the tree. Wouldn't it be neat to take a look around a nursery that sells trees for $18,000?

Well, the tree is 200 years old so a very large amount of that nearly 20K is going to be what it takes to move and transplant a 200 year old tree without killing it.

Not so sure about that, Synova. By tree standards, the olive tree is considered to be small and excessively hardy. There are some still around that are believed to be 2000 years old.

This strikes me as a "symbolic" purchase, with a very arbitrary price, but at least one that will get media attention.

The dove and the olive branch are peace symbols in the three major religions that have some trouble finding "peace" ... Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Is it by chance that our Goodwill Ambassador purchased an olive tree? I think not. Jolie, just keeps on channeling her adored, hippie mother. And, really? Why not?

Even symbolically, give peace a chance.

At $18,000, I would say it was a STEAL!
