Is Goldberg so unselfaware that she doesn't realize how crazy she sounds? I guess Goldberg never talks or interacts with anyone who is any less crazy than she is. She must not or she would realize how nuts she sounds.

You should've said, "I think we should be BOLD AND FRESH". Mwahahaha. Insider conservative jokes always rile up the libbies.

I can't believe this is only a tease, argh. I'm out the door. Oh well.

But as the French say, "ça promet"!

I'm confused. The referenced clip was a little more than 8 minutes, but you mentioned 52 minutes. Was there something missing? Ms. Goldberg didn't seem to be close to hanging up.

The liberal critique of Sarah Palin seems to be "Ewwww! Disgusting. QED."

wv - undesses. Sounds salacious.

JAL said...

Well Professor, haven't seen the whole thing, just this clip, but marriage is agreeing with you.

You look fabulous.

From one girl to another.

:-)

I think you should demand, no make that DEMAND, that Robert Wright give you a percentage of the profits from this (yet to be distributed) cage match!

Seriously, Ann - you comport yourself with dignity and grace on these uncious bhtv segments.

You are not kidding. From a San Fran Cronicle report on how book stores there are not carrying her book. They talked to clerks who said the following,

"Anything like that we wouldn't carry," said clerk Emily Stackhouse. "We're a small store and it would probably gross us all out. Some things you carry because of freedom of speech, but a book like that is just gross."

I wonder if the girl realizes she is a walking talking stereotype and not a good one?

This is the end of today's diavlog, which will be posted on bhtv later today or tomorrow. What you saw 8 minutes of was something we did last July.

Goldberg seems to have a visceral hatred of all things conservative. She had similar feelings towards Bush, but is very bad about articulating why. ALso, she has no problems finding racism from the right for Obama's policies where none is actually exhibited and she's worried about the inflamed rhetoric from the right (?)which she ascribes to all. Yet when asked about the inflamed rhetoric from the left she has a glaring blind spot. All that Bush is Hitler, we need to fail in Iraq, Bush is evil rhetoric apparently is nothing more than speaking truth to power and thus not even deemed to be remotely incendiary.
Her self awareness is about on the level of a slug.

Whoa, this should be entertaining. But I like Michelle Goldberg and this makes it sound like she didn't do so well. Althouse is eager for it to go viral so she must've done very well.

Well, anyway, looking forward to seeing the fight. :)

I always thought her distraction was due to her self-awareness of how she appears in the webcam. Pouting, persing, flipping hair...

I prefer Mickey Kaus. He uses the webcam like a bathroom mirror. I expect him to pop a zit at any moment.

wow, i cant wait to see this one ! .... after the last one with you two, i'm really surprised that you agreed to do another. her arguments are not as well constructed or as well thought through as yours; there seems to be more emoting going on over there, and less thinking through her positions. i'd like to see you with someone who is both empathetic and sharp as a tack. how about a diavlog with glenn loury ?

actually, another interesting one could be with david frum .... but that's mostly because i'd like to see you whip his butt !

Once again - The local wing nuts are in the minority:

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Fewer than three in 10 Americans think Sarah Palin's qualified to be president, according to a new national poll - the least of any of the five potential candidates included in the survey.

According to the poll, 28 percent of Americans say Palin is qualified to run the White House, with seven in 10 saying the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is not qualified.

It will be interesting to see, although I tend to be sort of whimpy about watching conflict or anything that is presented as "stupid people tricks." (Shocking, I know... but most people are at least somewhat internally inconsistent.)

Anyway I wonder... Althouse, you said that you weren't really pro-Palin but were asked to take the pro-Palin side of the exchange.

How much difference do you think it makes not to be personally invested in what you're debating?

kathleen said...

does michelle make kissy lips at the camera when she's trying to convey that she's thinking really hard, like she did last time?

(or should I call her Louise)

Why do you waste your time talking with that ditz?

I surely won't waste my time watching the exchange.

Nice make up job ("I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Meade."), happy smile, classy outfit, good camera angle, firm confident voice. Watch out, Palin, Althouse is preparing a run for higher office.

Synova said...

I have another question for Althouse.

Do you try to talk *lower* when you do a divalog? Because you sounded almost sultry.

I hate the sound of my recorded voice. I think I sound like a chipmunk or a 12 year old. It doesn't help at all to realize that's because I normally hear lower tones through the bones in my head. A recording still sounds horrible to me.

So I would definitely rather try for low and sort of sultry. Of course, the most likely thing that would happen is I'd sound like a boy when is voice changes and it would be all low and sultry and then all of a sudden... chipmunk!

"Bullying, vulgar embodiment of the Red State id"

Is it even possible for Michele Goldberg to be more of a hateful bigot than she demonstrated here?

How does she get away with this? Where is the outrage from the left?

She is the perfect example of what is wrong with America today.

Synova said...

Liberals can't *be* bigots, Chase.

Where have you been that you missed that?

Palin is the chirpy organizer.

I myself prefer the Mr. Wizard personality.

The amazing Michelle Goldberg is a free person in the sense of free from restraint by accepted structure, by rational argument, by laws, or by boundaries of any kind.As such she attracts persons like herself. What's to be done with Michelle is far more of a quandry than Newsweek has placing Palin in a box. I look forward to the match. Style points count with simple confidence of attitude counting more than all of Michelle's clearly false facts inserted as roadside IEDs into the argument.

Hate to pile on (well not really), but Miss Goldberg really is a twit.

Does she know anything factual?

I also agree with Synova and Paddy, very vivacious, Ann.

Marriage definitely favors you!

Rh said, "I myself prefer the Mr. Wizard personality.

...Next week, Jimmy, we'll make battery acid."

Whoa, what a throw-back to my earlier days. Mr. Wizard was more "wizardy" than you might imagine, rh. In fact, I would suspect you even wondered why he was called Mr. Wizard when he was dealing with some basic facts that all you science types knew all along.

Well. I wasn't a "science type" EVER. On the other hand, I have always been a "personality type", and dammit if that Mr. Wizard didn't have EXACTLY the personality type I needed to pull me along into being more interested in science... every Saturday.

And then on into Monday through Friday when I attended any science classes for the rest of my school years.

The really interesting thing is, that after all these years, and for ever so many reasons, that neither you nor I need to agree on, rh, at least both of us can agree that we learned something from Mr. Wizard that was important for both of us.

Now THAT is what I call "Magical", while you might say it was "what", exactly?

I promise to be respectful of your answer, by the way. Provided, of course, that you do the same in turn.

Penny said...

Awwww, nevermind, rh.

I have a feeling this is the time of night you pull Vicki onto the couch to scratch her belly and act silly together.

We can pick this discussion up tomorrow.
