"Muslim woman held in slay try of husband; he made her wear sexy skirts and eat pork."

The husband survived. That's what "slay try" means, it took me a while to notice.
"She's a very devout Muslim and she felt that he got her to marry him under false pretenses," a source said. "He doesn't really observe any of the traditions of Islam. She says he forced her to eat pork and wear short skirts."

She also claimed that his favorite author is Salman Rushdie, reviled by devout Muslims after writing the prophet-bashing "The Satanic Verses."
Women and their excuses for murder....

Muslim version of the east Texas defense that the SOB deserved to be killed for abusing me and Allah too.

The Pakistani-born Naseem was not a practicing Muslim but sought a traditional wife;

Obviously not a bright fellow. The headscarf and veil should have been a dead giveaway.

Is Althouse trying to send subtle messages to Meade that he needs to shape up? Or is it just an innocent husband killing post-spree?

So... he doesn't follow Islam except for the part about getting to order his wife around?

Good point. Meade, if the Professor spends a lot of time watching Lifetime, I'd be careful.

Meade -- is the professor trying to tell you something with these posts?

Her claims are specious. Having read Midnight's Children, I can say with some confidence that Salman Rushdie can be no one's favorite writer, any more than James Joyce or Thomas Pynchon could be.

And no one can make you eat pork. What did he do, bring home some bacon and force her to fry it up at knifepoint? Muslim guys are not noted for their sharing of the household tasks. Even if he forced her to make BLTs, why did she simply just leave the B off hers?

Further, what is he doing picking out her wardrobe? How does he even know what siZe she wears?

Her story is a tissue of lies.

Thanks, guys. I'll sleep with one jaundiced eye open.

Sarwar was released on $25,000 bail after being arraigned yesterday on attempted murder rap charges.

Rap artists: take note.

Meade, throw out the kitchen knifes! Use plastic until further notice.

That no-good son-of-a-b*tch brought her all the way to a land where she could have indoor plumbing, electricity, toilet paper, Oprah, Lifetime TV, Home Shopping Network, and the ability to file for divorce for the most frivolous of reasons, but no. She had no alternative but to resort to (attempted) murder.

Theory: this woman met another (Muslim) man, and they couldn't be together if she had been divorced. However, if she had managed to become a widow while ridding the world of an infidel, well, then she'd be quite the Islamic catch, wouldn't she?

FLS,

Whatcha got against Midnight's Children? Sure, it's not nearly in the same class as The Satanic Verses, but not everyone can hit two home runs in a row...

Synova said...

If she's really traditional, Matt, and she has male relatives who arranged the marriage... divorcing him could get her killed.

Matthew said...

True enough, Synova, but I get the impression from the local coverage (I live less than 4 miles from where this took place) that this woman was here all by herself.

Maybe if she had a relative here they would have killed her husband for her?

Synova said...

Possibly.

I know someone who claims he and some friends carved "rapist" in a middle eastern exchange student's forehead after he raped one of their female friends.

It's good to have family. And it's good to have friends.

Matthew said...

Carving a guy's forehead? That's soft.

In these parts, they would find the guy's forhead and the rest of his body scattered over several landfills, and that's only if the person doing the 'disappearing' on him managed to screw the thing up.

I'm not buying it, girlfriend.

This was obviously self-defense. She comes from a place where she could be stoned for wearing sexy skirts and eating pork, so he put her life in danger - and her soul!

Hey, I take that personally.

We recently had the case of the girl from Ohio who had converted to Christianity and fled to Florida, afraid that her Muslim family would "honor" kill her. The courts just sent her home. Good luck, kid. The court, in its wisdom, says you're in no danger. Because it's not like Muslims try to kill apostates or anything like that.

And in the news today, a Muslim man in Georgia ran over his 20-year-old daughter with his car because she was "becoming too Westernized." She's in serious condition, he's in jail.

Every time you turn around, you hear about another Muslim terror plot foiled, like those clowns in Chicago or the crazy black Muslims in Detroit.

How many incidents like this does it take before we ask the unaskable, politically incorrect question: Why is it only Muslims who behave this way? You don't get this kind of violence from Hindus or Buddhists or Jews or other religious minorities in America, do you? Just the Muslims.

It's becoming increasingly apparent that "devout Muslims" and American (Western) civilization are incompatible. If they don't believe in concepts that Americans hold dear, like individual liberty and religious freedom, THEY DON'T BELONG HERE! We shouldn't allow any more immigration from countries that are still living in the 7th century.

Great point! I'd laugh my ass off if she was in turn stabbed, immolated or stoned to death by even more strict Islamoid kinfolk in an honor killing. For dishonoring them by dishonoring her husband.

(Well, maybe not laugh, but at least smile an ironic smile)

Could it be? Sharia Law is better than Texas law for strippers?

Neither Jews not Christians really follow the Ten Commandments. If we did, there would be a whole lotta killin' goin' on. Remember the stoning of the woman caught in adultery? That was not a governmental punishment but the act of the community.

* I Am The Lord Thy God. This Commandment recognized the sovereignty of the Almighty. Rejection of it was seen as a refusal to acknowledge God's authority. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods But Me. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Thou Shalt Not Take The Name Of The Lord Thy God In Vain. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Remember The Sabbath Day To Keep It Holy. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Honor Thy Father And Thy Mother Punishment was death by strangulation.

* Thou Shalt Not Commit Murder Punishment was death by decapitation.

* Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery. Punishment was death by strangulation.

* Thou Shalt Not Steal. Punishment was death by strangulation.

* Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor Punishment was death by stoning.

* Thou Shalt Not Covet. Punishment was death by strangulation.
