Actually roadkill signifies harmony. The animals are integrated into the community. There are no longer dog roadkills today, however, because humane societies have rounded up and killed all the stray dogs.So today domestic dogs are excluded from the community, and raccoons are not. There's your tension. It's from do-gooders, hysterics and busybodies in politics.
"Chang said he likes to push the artistic envelope and force people to think about the concepts that underlie his work."What tripe. I got out of art back in the 90's when I realized how incestous the relationships had become between artist and instituion. Twaddle liket this could not exist without foundations and other schools giving the artists the "freedom" to create crap with no actual artistic merit. Thus, politically charged "edgy" art has now taken the center stage and anything to do with beauty or craftsmanship is considered to be boring.
This is so location dependent. When I am in Florida it is the occasional iguana or turkey duck that gets plastered and here on Long Island it is the daily deer.Living in each makes it impossible not to notice so to my/our perspective Chang is little more than a nudge to view what we already know...like listening to the next symphony composed out of tunes from your head...I don't get it. If you buy this "art" then are you supporting something? and what is that?...if not, it is a waste of money as there is an awful lot of "sad" out there that is yours for the taking.
"This art project is dead meat - even if critics love it."Now that is a great opening line for this article.
Isn't roadkill at least partially a sign that fauna is flourishing in proximity to humans?
Roadkill exhibits seem to be just another Faux Guilt Trip so loved by today's post-christian moral consciousness priests. There is so much real Sinning that they could expose under the Big Ten from Moses's God, that these extra special sins, like a failure to protect Mother Earth's furry creatures, seems a waste of perfectly good Guilt Trip time.
"They just want to survive," Chang, 39, said of the creatures. "It's just so sad - so sad. I wanted to say something about that."A slow death as they're devoured by wolves would be so much better. What is up lately with blogger ignoring carriage returns and linefeeds?
What is up lately with blogger ignoring carriage returns and linefeeds? It seems to affect a paragraph ending in italics ahead of a paragraph starting in unitalics.
Ha! you can beat it.Start the following paragraph with italics off, rather than ending the italicized paragraph with italics off.
And of course it's protesting the actions of our government post 9/11.Yes, my last shred of patience with these insufferable twits is gone too.
I've also noticed that embedding a < BR > helps.
(right after the close italic)
It isn't real art unless the road kill is displayed in a beaker of urine.
