Darn good lookin' dog.

Althouse the dog person surprises me more than Althouse the Bride.

Lovely beasts, but still a messy lot. I have two also.

Two birds with one stone, I see. Good call.

Looks like you acquired a dog after all, but not, perhaps, in the way that you originally planned. It's a handsome dog, too.

Mutts are the best. (I assume that's a mutt...)

Meade said...

Thank you, knox.

Yes, that jeans-wearing guy in the foreground is a mutt.

Comes from a long line of mutts. :)

Two working together are 10 times happier, stronger and safer than one alone. It's really not good to be alone. Your adult chilren will be relieved that you have each other, and they will not have to worry about you so much. Time alone is still a good thing, but a little adjustment will be needed that first night away from the other. Also find some safe friends for repeated social group interractions and there will never be a dull moment.

is there any reason you have an expensive camera and don't use the myriad of controls for light and color? Or use some of the controls in your software?

I am just trying to figure out your artistic statement with the harshness.

I really don't care about your private life.

Though it's not my default setting, it IS better when I let it happen.

Poor Meade, he never had a chance. Into the vortex he fell.

Does Meade have two dogs? Looks like it.

I left what was probably my snarkiest comment ever after Meade wrote that people should have two dogs since dogs aren't satisfied with just human company. Meade replied gently, and the gentleness drew blood.

(Groveling now:) So, Meade, I'm sorry for the snark. But I'm not getting another dog. Mine is pretty happy or great at putting on an act. If I had a spread like yours, it would be two dogs for sure.

Actually, neither dog is Meade's!

David said...

I'll grovel anyway, what the heck.

Didn't Winnie the Pooh say that?

Regardless, I concur.

It's lovely to have such a reliably bright spot in the blogosphere in spite of the maelstrom of political and economic horrors daily visited upon us.

Who owns the horses?

The children won't come on here and denounce this misbegotten decision because they see the flak that I get for having misgivings.

Love is great. Love with gifts. But, a marriage reduces the adult children's status.

These adult-children haven't fully contemplated what their mother's marriage will mean in terms of their relationship with her. If they express any doubts, they certainly won't find the emotional support they need from Althouse's fans here on this comments section.

Rats! I was hoping black dog was soon to join your household, he looks to be a fine dog indeed.

I took it to be a Midwest version of a Dude Ranch from the sort of commercial/less personal decor of the buildings.

The horses are probably for the Dudes and Duddettes to ride on if they are so inclined. Except for Bitey that is. Don't get near that horse's mouth.

Oh, Maxine, give it a rest. Both of my parent remarried, and I looked upon each wedding as a great opportunity to gain another parent, two grandparents, and, in one case, an awesome step-brother, rather than as losing some parental attention.

Now, if you're implying that Ann's children are not well-adjusted and mature enough to see things that way, well, that's another issue - one far more insulting of them than of her (as they are actually adults and all).

The flak you get is not for having misgivings. The flak you deservedly get is for your creepy fixation on Althouse's sons.

The shame is that you can be so hilariously funny...

until you cross that weird psychological line.

What exactly is it you believe entitles you to behave in such a hostile uncivilized way?

Love,
Meade

As part of the entitlement generation she feels she is entitled to do as she pleases, even it it is uncivilized and, oh what's the word um, hmmm...

Ah, yes, spiteful.

Raging, unquenchable jealousy.

My subconscious must have been processing Prof. A's engagement, because this popped into my head:

He wear no shoeshine he got Belgian sheepdog
He got keyboard finger he shoot Little Kings
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is I've got an MG
Come to Goetta -- right now -- over me

"Come To Goetta" from the Meatles' Central Parkway album.

How could Maxine possibly think she is entitled to comment on your personal life, indeed!

It's not like you are posting all kinds of personal details about your life on the internet or anything.

What? No Green Jeans?

Wonder if Maxine has "children."

My "children" are "adult children" which means they are adults.

Maybe "Maxine's" "adult children" are still children.

She sounds like she thinks they are.

She also sounds suspiciously like another poster ....

Love,
JAL

If she has offspring, they'd be called calves.
