"'There's no shame in religion,' he adds, as another tiny, shiny g-string shoots out of Mr Nasser's sewing machine."

The BBC reports on Syrian underwear.
What may be a new discovery to outsiders is that Islamic sexual mores are not only about veiling women, segregating the sexes and austerity.

On the contrary, sex is there to be enjoyed to the maximum by Muslims - as long as they are married Muslims - and there are numerous religious exhortations on the importance of foreplay, mutual titillation and satisfaction for both partners.
Sample titillation:

Don't you wish you could wear that without shame?

There's no shame in religion.

But there's a lot of religion in shame.

I saw a similar outfit in a store window in Vegas last week.

It was leather though, and there was a whip involved. I think I may have blushed, which is close to impossible.

(We were amazed at the people who took small children to some of the more interesting places in Vegas.)

Mrs. Rusty was not interested.

What did happen in Vegas will stay in Vegas.

That looks like it's made of pipe cleaners.

It looks itchy and prickly. How does it look under a t-shirt?

I saw the same thing at Lee Lee's
Valise. $950 out the door, including a gift box.

If you go to Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, or KSA, you see the same thing. In most shopping malls there is (in my limited experience)a Victoria's secret or similar shoppe - usually packed with women - and a few men who no doubt are shopping for gifts that offer them their own indirect "reward".

So, is this a challenge the Episcopalians to come up with something similar?

I can't think of anyone else who'd go for it...

Actually, that's pretty ugly! I don't know if shame is the word for what I would feel wearing that. ;-)

On a different topic, but a Syrian topic...I had Syrian food for lunch today. Chicken shawarma sandwich. Oh...yum.

Muslims are shameless.

They have an "honor" culture, not a "shame" culture.

They don't feel bad when they commit a bad act. They only feel bad if people are talking about their bad act.

I would be interested in seeing a pair in that bra.

Are you with me men?

The only possible explanation for that bra is that Syrians see comedy as an integral part of foreplay.

Darcy, if you wore that and post a picture, you know Althouse would like to it! It's not like us Linkin'-Mercury whores would do worse!

satisfaction for both partners.

Oh, that must be why clitoral excision is so common in much of the Muslim world.

Bart Hall: Not in the 'Muslim' world, but in the African world and peripheral areas, many of which happen to be Muslim.

You won't find FGM in Indonesia, the most populous of the Muslim countries. It's illegal in most of them, in fact.

But it is always a handy brick to toss when one feels cranky.
