Go Badgers.

I just got the email saying that they're projecting the basketball game on the big screen in room 2211 at the law school. I hope everyone's happy and stays happy.

Go Badgers!

Even though basketball bores me to tears.

Ouch!

At 3:43pm, Wisconsin down 13.

Owie...

If the Badgers lose, there goes my midwest bracket. Dammit, UW, win!!! I demand bragging rights!!!!

Bragging rights for my bracketology, that is. :) I'm not part of U of W in any way, shape or form.

Aaaaaaack! Down 15 now?? Dammit Badgers!... Beat this team! You're the 2 seed!!

Thank God I didn't actually spend money on this season, or I'd already be !&@#ed. Thanks, Duke. Thanks, Stanford. I depended on you to SHOW UP!!!!

:)

Just kidding... Duke put up a good fight. They just got (gulp!) outplayed. And Stanford got run over ("Anyone see get the license of that truck?" "Yeah, it said I (heart) Pitino!").

But durn it, my pride's at stake! Go, Badgers! Go, dammit! You know how hard it is for a Hoosier to root for a Badger?

This is horrible.

Horrible.

Horrible.

I'm rooting for the Big Ten team, but even if they lose it won't damage me as much as GA Tech losing earlier.

My bracket had Tech going to the Final 4, beating Wisconsin next round.

It's a good game so far, and if Wisconsin loses it'll be the first time a #2 seed has lost in the first round, IIRC.

Well, that looks awful at halftime. 19 points? I'm glad I'm not in any polls with this one, but I think they'll come back. But 19 points in the 1st half?

Tibore said...

Woo-HOO! They're catching up!

Now if they and Notre Dame can win, my bracket's still mostly intact. Georgia Tech was the only stumble I made in the Midwest.

Man, what about that Nevada-Creighton game? Anyone actually watching that? Tis close.

And whaddabout Tennessee-Long Beach State... Tennessee's blowing LBSt's doors off. 92 points, and there's still 9 1/2 minutes left?? Damn!... that's crazy.

I'm sure they'll be glad to be among friends.

did you guys follow World Cup soccer last summer ??

Can they project more than 50 points? I swear the Badgers score less than a high school girl's team.

I've got Creighton, and it looks like it's a close one. CBS is horrible about covering the games. Nice cutaway to a commercial for the Winthrop-ND game, Winthrop ahead by 1 with 59 seconds left and they go to a full commercial break. Come back with 28 seconds left and Winthrop ahead by 5 (I think).

Come on Badgers - you are giving me anxiety problems!!!!!!!

MadisonMan said...

Hey! They're winning now. I hope it continues :)

Tibore said...

Yeah, Kevin, CBS has always been horrible about covering the first two rounds. They always manage to screw up at least one broadcast by cutting away at the wrong time.

Hehe... I got Nevada. And that game can go either way.

Now if UW can just SAVE MY MIDWEST BRACKET!!! (Badgers, can you hear me??), I'll be happy. Well, maybe just satisfied. I can't be happy, not with Notre Dame going down (rakkit frakkit blxpht (*bleep*) (*bleep*) (*bleep*) (*bleep*)...).

Ann said: "I hope everyone's happy and stays happy."

That sentence reveals a lot about your interest in and knowledge of sports Ann. It's very low and minimal. Reminded me of when I get to a game late and someone tells me the score is 7 to 10. My advice is stay away from sports commentary.

hdhouse said...

its safe. UW lives to fight another day

now if they can only be as good as MSU.

Tibore said...

That didn't register at first.

"... everyone's happy and stays happy."

No way. Sports is all about angst and arrogantly ripping on some other team's fans for the slightest of issues. Haven't you read sports blogs?

;)

Ann Althouse said...

I just want people in Madison to be happy. Not really an attempt at sports commentary!

Tibore said...

Not safe yet. There's still 3+ minutes left.

Although the way Wisconsin plays, a 7 point lead is like a 10 or 12 point lead for some other teams, they control the tempo so well.

I know - I was just picking on you for your weak attempt at saying "Go Team!"

ron st.amant said...

whew...thank goodness UW pulled it out.
I have them winning it all...I think that would have put a dagger in my brackets.

As a side note...it feels somewhat strange to be commenting on Ann's blog while I'm watching her on Bloggingheads...

Wanting the people in Madison to be happy -- isn't that a bit problematic? If they lose a big game, the fans get drunk and trash the place. And if they win the big game, the fans get drunk and trash the place.

Tibore said...

... and the funny thing is, if there's no game, the fans get drunk and trash the place.

That's life in a college town... ;)

The problem for teams from major conferences as good seeds in first round games is that it's like fighting a girl: they can't win.

Blow them out, and you're a big bully and everybody hates you.

Struggle (like UW did today) and win in the end, and it's all about how you almost choked, and how surprisingly good TAMU-CC was, and for Wisconsin-- questions, questions, and more questions.

Lose-- and well, let's face it, the story of the first round is about the Virginia Commonwealths and the Winthrops. Always has been, and always will be.

Kevin (3:01): you don't remember correctly. There have been four 2 seeds beaten by 15 seeds in the history of the tournament.

Then tell them to move to Texas.
