My intuition tells me...

This is a pretty well-done test. (Via Popdex.)

Hee! I like it when I test into the 99th percentile. It has been a while since anything like that happened.

I liked even more that my scientific and emotional intuition were about equally strong. It's nice to have my own sense of being "balanced" confirmed by an impersonal outside agency.

Being a curmudgeonly introvert I’m a little surprised how highly I scored for emotional intuition. Usually indicates social grace and persuasiveness, my ass.

Paint me an abvoe average empath with average scientific intuition (and here I was once a geophysicist. Oy!).

It put me in the zeroth percentile on "scientific intuition" for my age and gender, and in the 99th for "emotional intuition".

That's odd, since I'm a software engineer, have zero social skills, and while I'm not "good at Quake", I never played it; but I used to play Unreal Tournament consistently in the 98th or better percentile. Is UT more "emotional" than Quake? Statistics don't lie!

Or else most of the males my age who've taken the survey are bigger nerds than me.

Hmmm. 99% in both for my age and sex -- must not have many entrants in the category ...

99th percentile in both. Like slocum said, must be an empty category...but I do seem to be balanced in both scientific and emotional intuition.

I also scored 99th percentile in both.

My scientific intuition says that the prevalence of 99th percentile folks responding to this post, along with the smattering of 0th percentile folks, indicates that the percentile rankings may not be functioning properly.

I'm in the geeks. But I'm real close to being unusually smart. I'm thinking what screwed me was answering "polls" to question 17.

Hmmm.... 62%/62% overall, but 0%/0% for my a 28 year-old male. I have no idea what this means.

I'd really like to see what the distribution was on either score. And the answers, too.

You gonna tell us what you got, Ann?

Lance: I got the 99th percentile in both categories, as many others seem to have gotten. I'm questioning the processing of the statistics here.

It's probably because it's a fairly new test, so there aren't a lot of results yet for each age group.

What does it indicate if I'm enormously frustrated to have not learned at the end which girl was the non-virgin??

Fun test but, damn, now I want to know the answers, esp to the science questions.

Ann-- but what did you score on scientific vs emotional intuition?

Count me as another 99% in both categories. Perhaps this is connected to school funding.

Roaring Tiger: I think it was 62% on emotion and 70% on science.

I did 62% on SCIENTIFIC INTUITION and 70% on EMOTIONAL INTUITION.

I fall into the Unusually SMART group.

I also got double 99th percentiles, so I think that that part isn't working.

My scores:
85% Scientific and
47% Emotional

I especially liked this part about the Emtional Intuition: "A low score usually means you're good at Quake." Heh heh, I am good at Quake.

I just retook it, I did

85% SCIENTIFIC INTUITION and
77% EMOTIONAL INTUITION.

I would like to know what the answers were. I think the non-virgin was the one on the left. The other two were wearing crosses (which I would put as "hyper-religious" virgins.

I tend to overthink tests like this.

77 on both; 99% percentile on both.

I went to college with the okcupid guys (all really smart math whizzes), and I would guess that the percentile similarities are due to the sample sizes. The okcupid crowd tends to skew to 18-22, so there may be very few test takers above that age group.

Blogger Gerry said...

Ha. The non-virgin is on the left.

Interestingly, if you answered the first choice on all questions, you end up in the unusually smart quadrant.

I go with the non-virgin as the woman in the middle. It's the mascara.

I thought it was interesting that despite the disclaimer that "you aren't supposed to know the answers to these questions" I, in fact, did know the answer to at least 5 of the Scientific Intuition questions. Unsuprisingly, I ended up in the Geek catagory.

I'd love to see the answers to the questions as well. I had no clue as to the right answer on any of the pictures.

The okcupid site indicates that the test has been taken 36,615 times. That sounds like a decent sample base.

Again, 99% in both.

I have two hypotheses, either (a) AnnPundit gets awfully smart readers, or (b) the scoring percentage is off. Though I would like it to be (a), I think it much more likely (b).

70% scientific & 55% emotional. Hmm. Second seems suspiciously high for me, judging by what women I know say.
99% in both also.
My intuition tells me the stats calculator is broke.

30F, 72% scientific, 60% emotional.

Did anyone else get a bit of a shock on reading the suicide question?
