Only 24% of voters have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of Holder, while 48% view him unfavorably. This includes eight percent (8%) with a Very Favorable view of the nation’s chief law enforcement officer and 32% with a Very Unfavorable one. Twenty-eight percent (28%) don’t know enough about Holder to venture any kind of opinion.

40% of likely voters think Eric Holder should resign (and only 27% say he should not).
33% are undecided.

Isn't the chief law enforcement officer the POTUS?
Confirmation of my theory that 1/4 of the population can always be counted on to be idiotic.
The only question that matters is whether Obama loses votes by firing him, or gains them by firing him
Holder is the correct face of the Obama administration.
Everything is done third world, as an organized crime operation.
It's what the women voters wanted in 2008.
Let it run out until replaced.
I'd rather see Holder stay put, be charged with contempt of Congress and perjury, and go to jail for it. The longer he stays the more perjury he commits, the better. Martha Stewart went to jail for just fibbing to a federal LEO.
I know, I know ... I'm dreaming. Sigh.
That said, Holder will not resign so long as he acts as a distraction and fall guy. It is, after all, his job. He'll get kicked to the curb when obama sees fit.

Once he raised money from the "loses votes" folks then he will fire him to go after the "gains votes" folks. I really don't think he loses votes from the 27% ers.
Actually, 60% would know him if his last name was Kardashian, but, yeah, I gotta go with Aridog.
Be nice to see somebody like that actually pay under the law.
I was surprised that there weren't voters who said Who?
But then I see the question gives away the fact that he is AG.
Belmont Club's theory is that Holder is protecting Obama, there being a real smoking gun in the documents.
Holder is not the type to be a fall guy.
So expect digging in.

He blinks pretty hard though.
Resign for what? Doing what every administration does?
There seems to be a fight between the branches every time there is a new AG...
Reagan would not have provided the sought after records either btw...
Resigning would be the tasteful thing for him to do.
My question is, when will some enterprising young reporter do what it takes to become a Woodward or a Bernstein and get inside the DoJ and get the story out.
It almost seems like the young generation is so easily bought off with access to the good parties and the White House BBQ, that they don't want to offend the gate keepers.
They'd rather be liked than respected.
33% are certifiable idiots.

machine never had any parents, which seems strangely fitting. If he did, he would have got the "if your friends jump off a cliff" talk.
Seriously...there's-nothing-to-see -here-move-along is what you're going to hang your hat on? Previous wrongdoing does not excuse current wrongdoing, nor should it ever.
It's quite obvious that Holder has been dishonest with Congress. Doesn't that = contempt?
If a Republican AG were to do the same things, say the same things, I would want the ranking Democrat on that committee to rake that AG over the exact same coals.
"Reagan would not have provided the sought after records either btw..."
That's what Ollie North thought. Holder's DoJ is filled with radical lefties, like the pro bono defenders of Gitmo detainees. Obama, unlike Nixon, is concerned with only one thing. Himself.
If he decides that Holder is too big a liability, he will throw him under the same bus that covers most of the rest of his friends. That time is not now. The race card will be used first.
Eric Holder's legacy: Ruby Ridge, Waco, selling Timothy McVeigh explosives, giving Mexican drug lords guns. Holder's legacy is some of the worst tragedies committed by the federal government against its own people. Why is he the attorney general and not in jail?
hahahahahahah...that's funny.
Worse than making torture legal?
Holder should stay away from buses for the rest of the year. I'm sure there is one with his name on it leaving the white house any day now.
40% of likely voters are racists? Wish I could say I was surprised ...
Will a Holder resignation give Congress the F&F documents before the election? Then he will not resign. Has he worked out a deal where he leaves the administration after Obama wins (shudder!) re-election?
Will it hurt or help Obama if Holder announces now that he will leave the first of 2013? Obama gets credit for clearing up a mess and just maybe Congress, getting a win, drops the entire investigation. I hope that doesn't happen.
"Worse than making torture legal?"
-- Water boarding two people may have had unknown ripple effects, which both the Bush and Obama administrations have admitted helped American security. Holder's actions have killed 200 to 300 people, including law enforcement personnel in America.
So, yes. Holder's actions are much worse than the water boarding controversy.
Worse than making torture legal?
It's not turture. It's never been illegal.
Grow up.
I hope Holder hangs on. He's just bad news for Obama, and Obama hasn't the intelligence to fire him!
All that matters to Eric Holder is fighting George Wallace, Bull Connor, Lester Maddox, et al.; he has not noticed that all those folks are dead.
He needs a long vacation with rest and fresh air, and away from Washington, DC.
All that matters to Eric Holder is fighting George Wallace, Bull Connor, Lester Maddox,...
Holder never experienced 20 seconds of any of those men's predations ... that little weenie weasel was born and bred and educated in New York City. He went directly from award of his "JD" to DOJ government service and has stayed in DC ever since.
He has zero real life experiences with the civil rights movement.
Precisely. Holder does not live in the real world.
All that matters to Eric Holder is fighting George Wallace, Bull Connor, Lester Maddox, et. al; he has not noticed that all those folks are dead.
Or that all those folks were Democrats.
After World War II, we convicted several Japanese soldiers for waterboarding American and Allied prisoners of war.
It is torture...and was illegal...
NBC did their first F&F story ever the other night; it lasted 10 seconds. (Not an exaggeration, literally 10 seconds, where they referred to it as a "failed transfer of guns to Mexico" or some such blather.)
Because of the mainstream media embargo of this story, maybe 40% of the public has even heard of F&F.
I'm pretty sure that if this was covered like Watergate was (and Watergate, by the way, resulted in zero deaths), 27% of the public would not be willing to look the other way on an attempt to rob us all of our civil liberties that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people.
"Obama, unlike Nixon, is concerned with only one thing. Himself."
No, I think Obama and Nixon are very much alike in that they have an egoistic view of the national interest.
Remember when Richard Nixon ordered Atty. Gen. Elliot Richardson to fire Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox? Richardson and his deputy William Ruckelshaus resigned. (They had the integrity that Holder lacks.) (The order to fire Cox was eventually executed by some Solicitor General named Robert Bork.)
Holder needs to go. But Holder doesn't have enough professional ethics or integrity to see why he must resign. And even if Obama does understand why he should fire Holder, he won't, because he doesn't have the balls to do it.
"After World War II, we convicted several Japanese soldiers for waterboarding American and Allied prisoners of war. It is torture...and was illegal..."
-- And Holder's DoJ has killed 200 to 300 people. That candle? Stop holding it. We're in 2012 now.

In that case, the American POW's were uniformed soldiers subject to unconventional interrogation by another nations' uniformed soldiers.
That is quite different than interrogating plain civilian clothed terrorists, who represent no sovereign nation, who kill civilians recklessly, as well as soldiers.
Under the "rules" you cite, vis a vis WWII, such terrorists were subject to execution on site or capture, by both sides, and were executed by both sides.
No more water boarding, just take them up in helicopters 2 or 3 at a time and toss one out the door with a rope tied to an ankle. Then ask the others questions. If they don't answer promptly, cut the rope, and tie it to another ankle and toss that one out the door. Ask the questions again, rinse and repeat.
Ofr, just shoot them dead on the spot, when they don't fess up. Kinda like drones, eh?

==================
It was called "water treatment" and it was forcing water into a prisoner by hose to distend internal organs and sometimes stomping on them. Either way, it killed some of it's victims.
The Jap technique in no way was the same as waterboarding - which involves no physical pain and kills no one and has no lasting physical or psychological effects.
It is in Leftist and progressive Jews inside the Media advocating for Democrats to conflate the two, as long as it is a Republican in office. When a Democrat is in power, it is tossed or the definition changed - much like sexual harassment.
As others have noted, the Japs were prosecuted because they applied a range of things outlawed by Geneva - to uniformed soldiers entitled to protections and enemy non-combatants. Things that were not torture per se, but things deemed abusive...slapping US officers before their men, forcing officers to do menial hard labor, forcing captured US, Chinese, Aussie civilians to hard labor with beatings.
Either way, it killed some of it's victims.
Didn't you mean to say, "it killed some of it's Heroes"?
"machine never had any parents, which seems strangely fitting. If he did, he would have got the "if your friends jump off a cliff" talk."
At our house, it was "jump in the lake."
machine,
Any activity a middle aged journalist voluntarily undergoes can pretty much be ruled as not torture. Get back to me when Hitch or someone like him volunteers to have his testicles hooked up to a car battery.
So the Democrat response is - "this is the way the Justice Department has always been run, like a mafia family"? For real - do you think the American people are going to buy this fucking crap?
I think those numbers would be different if there was more media scrutiny on F&F.
You can say a large portion of the public is stupid, but I think it's more they are ignorant — but it's really not their fault.
I agree w/ Ken on Holder. My positive point of the day!
No, I don't want him to resign: I want him indicted for the crimes he's committed. And tried for them. He resigns, there'll be a lot of pressure from 'protect our side at all costs' Democrats and 'Let's let it go and not cause trouble' Republicans to drop the case against him and the Gunwalker inquiry. And the dead deserve better than that.
machine.
Why doesn't the DOJ want to find Brian Terry's murderer?
spinelli,
Why would you deign to agree with someone you think will smoke crystal meth, drink cheap bourbon, and kill people w/ your car.... [A] Self righteous [person that doesn't] give a shit about the law or their fellow man. ?
Do me a favor and don't agree with me you human paraquat.
