"Wisconsin voters have spoken, and Democrats will hold a governing trifecta for the first time in nearly two decades."

"Governor-elect David Crowley, Assembly Minority Leader Greta Neubauer, and Senate Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein will set the agenda in Madison.... The new Democratic leadership also lacks any real private-sector experience. Crowley built his career in campaign organizing and political staff work. Neubauer and Hesselbein have the same resume. They know politics. Being good at politics will mean paying back their powerful political allies.... Many newly elected Democrats presented themselves as moderates; their leadership team has a different agenda. Wisconsin’s strengths—our workforce, our communities, and our tradition of common-sense governance—are durable. Republicans will work every day to protect those strengths, highlight what is working, and prepare for the moment when voters again choose balance and results over one-party control...."
Writes Robin Vos, who has been the speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2013.

Blue State Hell is a bit hyperbole. The weather isn’t good. And neither are the Packers. University of Wisconsin has a skewed female enrollment that’s only getting worse.

But as Blue State’s go it’s not California, Illinois, New York, or Minnesota.

Ross K on Colorado:

"Based on ballot measure results, Colorado is no longer a place where certain voters would vote tax increases on themselves but most of the state would reject major tax hikes. It looks like Amendment 87 (eliminating the flat state income tax and replacing it with a structure that punishes success) has passed. I think it’s the single most harmful ballot measure result in (at least recent) Colorado history. And, shockingly, the Front Range Passenger Rail measure seems to have passed. A train that almost nobody will ride that will likely take years and billions of dollars more to build than currently planned and will be a burden on taxpayers forever…utterly insane."

Blue State Hell = HARM.

Businesses are now going to leave in droves. AND - we get a highspeed rail to nowhere - that will suck our state dry.
How Newsum!

This is sad. For the state and for the nation. I can only hope that the damage is limited over the next two years, and that some sense returns in 2028. But I am not optimistic. This outcome is the result of a long march through institutions, particularly education and media. It was planned, and executed with total determination. The people now in charge live for politics. More specifically, they live for the power to tell other people what to do.

It is only a minor consolation that the rats will now begin to attack and consume each other, just as they always do. But this time we may never come back from it. I feel sorry for young people, but they have brought it on themselves (courtesy of our thoroughly corrupt educational establishment.)

It's a very dark day. Good luck, everyone, and be ready to protect yourself and those you love. No one else will.

1994- BILL CLINTON- LOST 54 HOUSE SEATS
2018- DONALD TRUMP- LOST 42 HOUSE SEATS
2006- GEORGE W. BUSH- LOST 30 HOUSE SEATS

WHEN IT COMES TO THE SENATE… BILL CLINTON LOST 9 IN 1994.
BARACK OBAMA LOST 9 IN 2014.
RONALD REAGAN LOST 8 IN 1986 .

Well, by my lights, no. The Dems are bound and determined to elevate people who like Ilhan Omar or Nur or whatever her last name is. And the 'community organizers' whose main passions seem to be looting, burning and anti-Semitism.

Are they American? I guess they are legally, since our immigration system is incredibly, suicidally broken.

We have a lot of angry, powerless, people glued to their screens, disconnected from their communities and their families, who just delivered a devastating blow to the MAGA movement. These worthless people and their sick nonsense. The disturbing, stupid Russia Collusion filth was replaced by nonstop garbage about White Supremacists and fraternity gang rapes, Epstein and cannibals who rape and eat babies, the Jews and Israel, the Russians!, ICE agents murdering children, nonexistent concentration camps and so on. It's awful.

And, honestly, we should be blaming our women. About 30% of American women experience some form of mental illness every year. Half of these women seek psychiatric counseling and a very, very high number are prescribed medication, mostly anti-depressants and mood stabilizers. These women are overwhelmingly single and they are bear to deal with. We have to confront these women in schools, in the work place, in family courts, wherever. This is too big a problem to ignore.

Peachy+2 म्हणाले...

Indeed. I don't want Blue State Hell. But last night we all got it, good and hard.

Are we to ignore California? Illinois? Major Blue cities like Portland and Seattle? Denver - where our skyscrapers are selling for pennies on the dollar and a formally vibrant downtown is a mostly vacant hellscape? NYC... where a radical Islamic failed rapper/crazy staff are in control. Even blue cities in red states, are in decline. They are all colossal examples of misery.
When I say "Blue State Hell" - it's not a wish - it's a realistic view of what happens when one party destroy our shining cites on the hill.

Inga म्हणाले...

“I just want a government that looks after the interests of its citizens, and the Democrat party seems entirely unconcerned about that.”

I concur. As a resident of California (aka Californicate You) we have been dealing with this for decades. Decades of economic horrors, idiotic rules made by people who are clueless about life. Antagonistic policies that drive business out of the State, put small businesses OUT of business. Increased unemployment, increased homelessness, inability to build new housing due to regulations, lawlessness, overwhelmed by ILLEGAL aliens. Highest gas prices and Taxes.

Get ready. It is coming and those people who voted for it deserve every bit of misery you are about to get.

The only thing saving my (and husband's) sanity is that we live in a far northern part of the state, rural and highly conservative. Mostly ignored by the morons in the Capital and forgotten by the rest of the State. That and we are old and do not have to look forward to decades of future idiocy and decline. For us...it is just keep on keeping on, keep a low profile. Also....the three S rule if worse come to worse (Shoot, Shovel, Shut UP)

Vos raises a fair question about whether Democrats who ran as moderates will actually govern that way. Still, private-sector experience isn't the only measure of competence. David Crowley has spent six years managing Milwaukee County and Republicans have had plenty of opportunities to demonstrate their own ability to govern.

The new Democratic majority deserves scrutiny, particularly regarding its policy priorities and the influence of political allies. The same standards should apply to Republicans. It's reasonable to question policies before they're enacted but predictions of disaster are premature and seem unhelpful. Let's judge the Democrats by the policies they pursue and the results they produce.

Amusing thing about "Conservatives" and those on the Center- right, is they never want to fight. Just run away. And then the Left takes over the place they ran to, and then they run again.

It's one thing to be elected. It's another to govern. A few too many Democrats were elected because they Hate Trump, which is to say that they hate the Country. We'll see what happens.

RCOCEAN II म्हणाले...

If you look at in terms of "Inches of Rain" Winter in Western Washington isn't unusual when compared to parts of the eastern USA. The difference is it gets cloudy a lot.

Sometimes the snow can be a good thing, because in a cold snap with the Wind coming from Canada you can get some cold - but clear days.

But mostly Dec-Feb is just one cloudy and partly cloudy day after another. Which is Ok. Some people like that, or don't mind it. And it beats 20 below zero.

Europe is facing the same kind of energy problems, the high prices and worse, due to the very unpopular support of the EU's war against Russia, the sending of hundreds billions of euros to be skimmed by corruption or burned in a war that could easily be settled. How many times do I have to remind Jaq (or whatever he's calling himself on any given day) that Europe's "energy problems, the high prices and worse", are mostly self-inflicted, and have nothing to do with Ukraine or Iran?

One more time: Germany shut down all their nuclear power plants and blew up the cooling towers so the next government couldn't reopen them. I believe other European countries have stopped building them, as the US did until quite recently, and that the anti-nuke organizations are secretly financed by Russia.

Those crazy Wisconsonites! What will they get up to next? In my locale, Texas Republicans, having gotten way too comfortable in office since the 1990s, now have an opportunity to be uncomfortable here, with the sure help of the Democrats recently elected. Let's hope the Party members learn from what's coming. I doubt they will, the Democrats didn't during their travails in the wilderness for the past three decades, but I have to console me the prospect of hope. Even without any actual hope, the prospect of it helps, and is about all there is left after yesterday.

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "The Wages of Sin is Death."
7
In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "If you don't work you die."
8
Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew,
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four–
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.
9
As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;
10
And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!
