Get out and Vote, and encourage others to Vote, too !

Richard Dolan म्हणाले...

Yes. For all the likely losers.

Indefinitely Extended Excursion™️ म्हणाले...

Actually, nearly half of voters cast their ballots before Election Day in recent midterms. Election Day has increasingly become a deadline for voting, not necessarily the day people vote.

Gospace म्हणाले...

At 1030. According to the ballot counter, over 20% of the town's voting age population had cast ballots by then. No clue what percentage early voted. Town is heavily Republican- small rural town in NY.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

No, and I won’t. The political landscape is too silly to bother with. The supermarkets are overflowing, obesity is our major health problem, yet the debate is focused on imaginary scarcity. A total waste of time. Imaginary problems, as Scott Adams called them. I’m leaning more and more toward Musk’s belief that social problems are really engineering problems.

Peachy+2 म्हणाले...

filled out the mail in ballot yesterday. dropped it off yesterday as well. (too late to mail) I don't trust the mail anyway - so I dropped it off at the official municipal drop box in town.

Kay म्हणाले...

Sitting this one out as usual.

imTay म्हणाले...

Voted last week. For the Democrats in Florida, first time I voted Democrat since I was in college in 1980. Here's hoping Trump gets the message, but he doesn't really care what voters think anymore.

The only other way I will ever vote again is if Rubio is the candidate, then I will vote for whoever opposes him, no matter who. Other than that, I can see that my judgement in trusting Trump was poor. So let somebody else screw up the country.

AlbertAnonymous म्हणाले...

Trump's interview this morning about ending aid to Israel in a desperate attempt to swing some voters back? We will see if he removes the provision in the Defense Authorization Act that will provide weapons to Israel in the amount of tens of billions of dollars over the next several years without requiring a vote. This is a plan because they know that the Likud led apartheid state of Israel's brand stinks on ice with all but aged boomers in the US.

imTay म्हणाले...

First wave Boomers and the remaining Silent Generation voters who like these wars will be replaced by GenZ voters at a rate of 2 - 1 as the former die off.

RCOCEAN II म्हणाले...

We did mail-in ballots last week.

RCOCEAN II म्हणाले...

Personally, I think people should be forced to go to the polls on election day and mail in ballots should only for those with certified medical conditions.

But if people want it this way, I'll take advantage of it.

California mails a ballot to every registered voter in the state, so I voted a few weeks ago. I saw last night that Steve Hilton has a 99.5% chance of losing to Xavier (pronounced HAH VEE AIR) Becerra for governor.

…I early voted last week at the library- took me 10 min in and out. The wife went this morning to the neighborhood polling place. Family and friends were all in line. Was back in half an hour…I’d like to think this one is same old same old but frightening to me to see commies and muslim extremism on the ballots in other places. The American commies have promised a revenge tour on capitalism if they gain control of anything. I believe them…

tommyesq म्हणाले...

Just did, walked past the folks holding campaign signs out front. Does anyone think those people have any actual effect on voting?

Eva Marie म्हणाले...

Shouting Thomas, please vote. I get that Trump isn’t all you wanted but he brushed aside 2 attempts on his life and kept on fighting. This 80 year old man has spent the past 2 months campaigning non stop plus discharging his duties as the President. The men and women in his administration are working hard despite the certain knowledge that when and if Democrats gain power they will spend 100% of their time destroying the lives of Republicans.
Also there’s no question Republican politicians leave a lot to be desired. They’re going to have to be pushed and prodded to get off their asses and pass the legislation we need. But they’re still better than the Democrats. And if you like your Elon Musk then you can keep your Elon Musk. Democrats will try to destroy him when they come to power.
Musk believes that social problems are really engineering problems? Not if the Democrats come to power. Corruption beats engineering every single time.I believe his saying that is part of his own self soothing. Win or lose he will beat them. But why make his path difficult if not impossible? Please vote.

Sydney म्हणाले...

Yes. It was very busy for a mid-term election, but we have school levy and a governor's race on the ballot. There were also a lot of judges and some amendments to increase the pay of the mayor and law director. If the issues involve more money, more people tend to vote.

Earnest Prole म्हणाले...

Indefinitely Extended Excursion™️ म्हणाले...

Every state has different rules for when early and absentee ballots can be processed and counted. Some start weeks ahead; others can’t begin until Election Day. That alone can mean significant differences in how quickly results come in. Add verification, reconciliation and close races, and counting can take days. A slower count isn’t evidence of fraud. It’s often simply the result of different state laws and procedures.

imTay म्हणाले...

"Also there’s no question Republican politicians leave a lot to be desired."

A vote for Republicans will be viewed by Trump as an endorsement of his pointless war.

imTay म्हणाले...

mikee म्हणाले...

Voting early here in Texas left me with not a lot to do up to today, except wonder each morning if Trump had finally unleashed hell on the Iranians overnight. Still waiting. At the start of Epic Fury I commented here that IMHO the best approach would be to destroy Iranian military until they begged for unconditional surrender, and then keep going for another week or so until they really meant it. Still think that way.

Most of us voting repub are more concerned about future of kids and grandchildren. dems don't care, they will generally vote because of media generated hate for Trump. Incidentally, every Trump hater here looked forward to watching "The Apprentice".

Gee, Trump's announcement this morning suggests that this "controversial ad was a lot more effective than Republicans wanted us to believe.

imTay म्हणाले...

Lawcruiter म्हणाले...

We voted in Western Massachusetts which, for anyone not voting D, is essentially an exercise in letting people know that we exist. There is, however, an important ballot initiative ("Proposition 3") that would eliminate political party primaries for state elections and instead establish a system where there would be a single, all-party primary in which all candidates, regardless of their party affiliation, would be listed on one ballot. Hopefully this will give us more choices and eliminate the endless slew of insider Dems running unopposed.

Smilin' Jack म्हणाले...

Maine - Bet $9, pays $29.46
Texas - Bet $25, pays $69.77
Michigan - Bet $30, pays $104.78
House D, Senate R - Bet $20, pays $65.70
Blue Wave? No to Dems 218 or more in House, 49 or more in Senate. Bet $2, pays $11.11
Blue Tsunami? No to Dems 235 or more in House, 51 or more in Senate. Bet $3, Pays $5.91
Control of House? Republicans, Cost $8, Pays $83.55 (my weakest wager IMHO)
FL Gov - Bet $4, Pays $5.17
and a crazy bet the first day I joined Kalshi:
Trump creates a $250 bill featuring himself before Jan 1 2027? Bet $4.99, pays $49.62
Maine/Texas Combo - Bet $11, Pays $29.56
And for the future, JD to be next president:
Bet $4, Pays $23.61
I invite comments on any or all.
Eliminating all but today's election:
I bet $104 total for a possible payout of $384.68

That's a lot of mistakes in one sentence. Iran is only American politics to those looking for a wedge. The so-called war with few American loses and no boots on the ground is not a war, and it's successes are far from pointless. Trump has a lot more irons in the fire than a blockade of a defeated nation. Hatred makes people say shit without thinking about it first.

But if tariff revenues aren't enough to cover those $5,000 checks and if spending isn't cut elsewhere, we'll have to borrow the difference, adding substantially to an already enormous federal debt. I think we both agree that we should be concerned about handing out money today that taxpayers will ultimately have to pay for tomorrow.

We might consider cutting the fraud, you know.

Handing it back to those it was taken from. Far more is given to people who mostly spend it poorly and even damagingly. The debt is unfixable. It will collapse and Americans should get some of their money back before the crooks sneak it out the back door while they board up the front.

If getting $5K back is bad, then logically giving the government $5K more would be good, and us all giving them $10K would be twice as good. What would happen if we passed that law?

“My wife and I voted in person here in NW Montana. Long lines. Lots of Vietnam and GWOT veterans (we all wear hats/jackets displaying service branch).”

"Boys, it's been good to know ya." SoCarolina, Texas (both Senate and Gov). WTH? It's a paddling. No, it's a shellacking.

IT IS VERY RARE FOR THE INCUMBENT PARTY TO LOSE BOTH THE HOUSE AND THE SENATE. My handicapping was a little off as i had projected top House at possibly 231, going way past that but i did project 58% chance of winning SENATE. trump might as well just go home now.. He will be called on his corruption and spend the rest of this 2 years ducking and weaving. This is a complete repudiation by the American voting population ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH. TRUMP HAS THIS COUNTRY SO SCREWED UP THAT ITS GONNA BE A TOUGH ROLL FORWARD BUT WE WONT HAVE THAT FOUL MOUTH mad man spouting his nonsense day after day and nobody is gonna be listening except his hard core MAGAS the ones duped for years. IT WILL BE REFRESHING wheres the guy said no blue wave? must have been asleep.?

The midterms are shaping up to be an interesting reality check. Looks like my $5,000 check isn't happening, but I'm perfectly fine with that. He already stiffed me on my tariff check, though, so at least he's been consistent. Not exactly a track record that inspires confidence, but consistency counts for something, I suppose.

I lost every race but Gov in FL. What a shellacking.

Voted early. Even my wife voted this year, and she almost never votes. I got a nice sticker, as did she. Other than that, we won nothing. Good politicking was performed by the Democrats here in Texas, who convinced urban voters that free money fountains would be installed in each neighborhood, that last year's 3% inflation was the cost of high prices rather than the total 21% inflation of the Biden years, and that everything else wrong with the world is caused by data centers and the oil industry, which apparently are both controlled by Republicans. My wife wants to move to Colorado for our retirement, and my only argument against that move is hoping it takes a longish time to turn Texas into that same sort of silly place.

Back in the 1990s Republicans won Congress, with an Agenda for America based on fighting politics as usual. Next they won with Compassionate Conservatism, i.e., being Rino-like in their concerns, but again fighting politics as usual. Then came the Tea Party, a bipartisan protest movement against politics as usual that was crushed by both parties. So Obama won on being a blank slate to voters and a leftist for his party. That led to Trump, angry at politics as usual, who was fought most bitterly by both parties. After Biden's surrogate presidency, Trump won again, but governed harder this time. I look forward to the next two years of Trump having absolutely no reason to go easy into his retirement. Destroy the Iranian IRGC. Deport millions. Veto everything. Rule by EO. It will be amazing to behold. Or at least I hope so.
