Golden is the best. My first dog, Scout, 110 pounds, is still the biggest Golden Retriever I've ever seen. He used to hump Rottweilers in the dog park. We had to quit going to dog parks.
He was a sweet dog. One time he scared the shit out of a maintenance man. I wasn't there. Maintenance man comes in, to fix something. And he's surprised by this noise. Scout is in the bathtub, sleeping (he loved the bathtub), so he makes this big racket coming out of the bathtub. Checks out the maintenance man and decides this is okay.
Another time, my upstairs neighbor is having a party. And one of the drunks accidentally walks into my apartment by mistake. I always keep the door unlocked.
I'm at home this time, watching TV. And this lady opens the door and walks in. And then she freezes, and I freeze, and my two dogs freeze. It was like a moment frozen in time. My dogs and I are looking at this woman. And she's looking at us. And she says, "Oops." And she turns around to leave. And Scout jumps up and grabs her by the pants. And she's like, "AHHHHH!" Now she's trying to run out of my apartment. And my dog is now playing tug of war. And she's wearing stretch pants. And they really stretch. She's trying to run, and Scout is down low for leverage, holding onto her pants for dear life. And my other dog, Katy, has run out the door. Totally disappeared.
So I get Scout to release the lady. I go get my run-away dog. And when I come back, the whole party is outside my apartment, looking at this lady's ass. She's got a couple of bite marks. Didn't break the skin. And I'm like, "Yeah, she walked into my apartment. Sorry about that." And they went back to the party.
But what does this have to do with Trump?

Another time, I was at the beach. My brother and I got in a fistfight. We are grown ass men. It is ridiculous. The fistfight didn't even last five seconds. It was like a wrestling match. And then my dog Scout bursts into the room, knocks my brother to the floor, and stands on top of him.
And that's it, fight is over. My dog broke it up.
That was pretty much our Siberians approach to strangers.

How is this “news”? With ads, bumper music, and teasers, there is less than 20 minutes for content. This consumed 5% of a national broadcast. There are four or more fronts in the Middle East war, Russia -Ukraine, fraud investigations, ActBlue allegations, elections, etc. and they spend a very valuable minute on a TikTok video of a dog not acting like a dog?

Yeah. That was our Mocha. A red Siberian. She'd get out every now and then and somebody would bring her home. Three different police departments and one time in a fire truck. She loved the local Moose Lodge and we'd often find her there. Inside. Being fed snacks by the patrons.

Golden Retrievers are far more likely to be an illegal immigrant than a guard dog.
And they like to swim.
Clearly his plan worked to distract the guy until the cops came. Genius.
This is not a surprise to anyone who has had a Golden. The only surprise is that Nash didn't show the man where all the valuables are. Maybe if he had just played with the dog he would have.
Nash knew that if he attacked the guy would run off and get away.
Notice how Nash got the guy to show his face to the cameras, and then clearly identified himself as the good guy when the cops got there. Brilliant performance all around.
Lucky that that senator from PA didn't smash up the place.
As an owner of a lovable GR, this relates. They are the best breed. Except for stopping your house from getting robbed.
Anyone else notice how camera-up’d that house is? Four different camera angles where shown from inside and outside the house - and those are only the ones that we know of from the report.
Ring cams are the best. They have amazing wide angle capture for how small they are. (...if positioned with enough space) They are inexpensive, and easy to use. The inventor is a genius.
I'm with bagoh2o on this one. Nash got the guy showered, cleaned up, fed, and comforted enough so he was no problem for the cops to take in. No violence. No property damage. Probably even a nice Thank You note left and the towels washed and dried for the owners when they get back.
We should think seriously about defunding our cops and replacing them with Golden Retrievers. Arresting people will be a lot cheaper and more pleasant, like just sending Waymos to pick them up when they're finished playing fetch with the Goldies.

Thats why we have a cat. She guards the lab and makes sure no one takes him.
We got our lab years ago, and we'll never stop loving her. What a treat. They are such friendly wonderful dogs. Some medical problems though. But seeing her big goofy face every morning is worth it.
If the intruder had been black, we'd never have seen this story. Just saying.

I have one pointed at my water meter so I can detect if the WiFi-enabled garden watering system shut down properly.

Well, the people went to the kennel and said they wanted a watch dog.
IF CBS News keeps showing dog stories, they'll have me back. I so prefer a good dog video over any more politics.
Goldens are great dogs. Love how when they get a good wag on, the entire back third of their body is wagging.
I'm on my second Sealyham Terrier. Actually, the first was a Lucas Terrier- a Sealy/Norfok terrier mix). But I have always loved Goldens. Just not the shedding.
The dog that won't guard.
My next door neighbor had the best behaving/most beautiful German Shepherd ever. Great guard dog of his rescue Chihuahua as well. The shepherd wandered off as she occasionally did. The lady who returned her was amazed by her temperment as she drove Darla back home. Darla rode in the passenger seat of the woman's Bentley.
If not fren, why fren-shaped?
My miniature Schnauzer is a superb watch dog. No one can get within 50 feet of my house without us knowing it. However she is a terrible guard dog. If someone comes in our house, she is instantly the visitor ‘s best friend.
