"Autumn edges in."

I woke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closin' in

It is Fall in America.

September is by far the best month to be in Wisconsin.

mezzrow म्हणाले...

A bit cooler here in Florida. Only 85 today.

Come to me - you crisp, brisk morning scented in pumpkin spice and sun kissed football anticipation. I am ready.

Enigma म्हणाले...

Oh, it's a long, long while
From May to December
But the days grow short
When you reach September

Lovely. Thank you.

We're getting some cooler mornings, days when I can't decide to run or go to the pool. Surprisingly the hummingbirds are still here. Late departure this year...

Now that I live in the desert, I greatly look forward to the end of September and the many months of wonderful weather to come.

The lazy crabapple tree in my front yard is already packing it in for the year. “Enough with the photosynthesizing already. I’m going to take a six month nap.” Glorious when it blooms in the spring, though.

Finally under 90F today in northern AZ. Half an hour up the hill and I'll be hiking in the high 50s very soon.

Narr म्हणाले...

Too dry here. I don't think I've watered the lawn since we moved here in '06, but may have to now. I keep telling myself that drought just makes the roots go deeper . . .

Also too hot, but with low humidity.

Has everyone noticed that Barack Obama has not weighed in to urge his supporters and political party to stop the violence?

It SCREAMS coordination with these killers.

Not too long ago, birders would get adamant about hummingbird feeders left out too long delaying the migration, leading to all sorts of hummingbird misfortunes. Cornell even released a guide for when to feed/when not to feed based primarily on latitude -- the further north you were, the earlier you would bring in the feeders.

It turns out hummers are more influenced by the hours of daylight and the availability of blossoms they naturally rely on than by the availability of well-stocked feeders. Well, duh. Hummingbird didn't evolve to sponge off their human admirers.

Reading on the NY Post that CNN is now getting bought by Paramount Studios and will be folded into CBS News - ending the toxic fake news brand's 45-year history of wrecking the United States, following the assassination they initially refused to cover of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

CNN's studios are very easy to locate in Google Earth and their address is public information. They're located in Atlanta, Georgia, at 190 Marietta Street ... a street that virtually touches CNN's building. It's very accessible. It's also a street that provides very clear lines of sight and offers multiple exfiltration avenues, creating a security nightmare for the company.

So it's probably good that they're choosing now to get rid of it.

To me it screams Obama is keeping his head down as to not remind people of his "punch back twice as hard" rhetoric.

Oh, do you mean that time when he told Democrats to bring a gun? And get in our faces?

It was my belief that nobody was above the law and that incitement of this type is a criminal act, but I'm no lawyer.

Wait ... I am a lawyer!

FormerLawClerk म्हणाले...

"Can we have one thread about beauty?"

Yes. As soon as the war is over.

Kirk didn't have any drugs in his system or try to smash a person's head into the sidewalk, so I guess Kirk could never be his son...

Kirk was Gandhi before he aged out of military service.
Mandela without the terrorist credits.
MLK JR without the personal proclivities.
Obama without the advocacy for human rites, albinophobia, redistributive change schemes, etc.

He represented a turning point that would mitigate our progress: one step forward, three steps backward.

CNN.

But not for long.

FormerLawClerk म्हणाले...

Forgetting that he wasn't on the internet ... one of the Democrat's shock troops (troopers designed to shock others with their actions in support of the guerilla war being waged by elements of the Democrat Party on American citizens) ... decided it would be a good idea to troll a Charlie Kirk candlelight vigil outside the state capital in my home state of Idaho.

He rode his bike through the gathered crowd carrying candles at the vigil yelling "Fuck Charlie Kirk."

He was promptly attacked by 5 or 6 of the biggest guys you ever saw and had the ever loving fuck beat out of him. They beat him to a bloody pulp.

We're done being nice guys.

The nation is at war. Democrats are murdering our leaders.

Now is the time to Fight. Fight. Fight.

"Oh, do you mean that time when he told Democrats to bring a gun?"

I hate the role of Obama's counsel for the defence, but I also despise the rhetorical use of distortion. Democrats use it unceasingly against President Trump because they have nothing else in their quiver but mendacity, and their voters are sufficiently porcine to devour that sort of slop. I see no need for conservatives to stoop to such measures.

Here's what Obama actually said according to The Hill:

Barack Obama is warning supporters that the general election fight between him and John McCain may get ugly, but the Illinois senator is vowing not to back down.

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said at a fundraiser in Philadelphia Friday, according to pool reports.

“We don’t have a choice but to win,” Obama said, joking that he has heard “folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles games.”

Obama again said that the GOP will make try to make him look “scary” to voters.

Obama pledging to swing back at the GOP drew much applause from the crowd.

Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant said Obama’s rhetoric abandons Obama’s campaign themes of hope and change.

Reported by Andy Barr, 06/14.08

"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun." That's not a command to Democrats to bring a gun--not literally nor rhetorically. It's feeble bluster, borrowed from an overheated gangster movie meant to give Obama a tough-guy aura. It was contemptible, but in no way criminal, and no one but a rabble-rouser would take that literally.

TeaBagHag म्हणाले...

A LOT of collective blaming going on tough guys and gals sharpening their knives.
Look up the disportionate amount of violence that those Lon the far right carry out. Is it Achilles fault every time some right leaning nut bag kills a Minnesota law maker?
Ask fucking grok for the numbers, if you’re too dumb or lazy.

It’s really a stark contrast how Trump allows for nuance when it’s Vladimir Putin, but immediately blamed the left for Charlie Kirk’s death without a suspect or evidence.

Big Mike writes, "...the first picture, is that a bird house, a bat habitat, or something else entirely?"

If it's a bat house, it's a very odd design. Every design I've seen has the entrance at the bottom. This structure doesn't have any apparent entrance. And it is very close to the ground for most northern bat species. They like to stay high to discourage snakes and other predators. As it is, it's most likely filled with cavity-nesting hornets.

Christopher B म्हणाले...

Quaestor, no reflection on your skills but that attempt is so feeble as to be nonexistent. Any time you have to use "he didn't mean that literally" you've lost the argument. The "Chicago Way" soliloquy from Sean Connery in The Untouchables is very well known as a description of the lawlessness of an existential struggle. You are essentially having to claim that the Democrats really don't believe their "speech is violence" bullshit. That maybe true of the Democrat leadership but I'm not so sure about the gullible rank and file, and it certainly is true the leadership finds that kind of rhetoric useful or they wouldn't fight so hard to keep using it in the face of events like July 13, 2024 or September 10, 2025.

Aggie म्हणाले...

One might take a look at these cheap disposable drones, and then examine a map to see where they most likely came from: A few miles from the Ukrainian border, and quite far from any Russian one. False Flag would be my considered opinion.

Aggie म्हणाले...

It looks to me like a bat house about 10 ft from ground level. I can't quite make it out, but it looks like the sign is about protecting bats. I think the bottom is open and there's some cabling that suggests a wildlife surveillance camera for them.
