"The admission came after footage taken by a hiker circulated widely on Chinese social media, prompting consternation online."

"It showed water gushing out of pipes that had been built high up into the rock face, feeding some — if not all — of the waterfall’s flow.... 'Depending on the season, I cannot guarantee that I am in my best condition whenever my friends come to see me,' read the statement, written from the perspective of the waterfall. To make your experience of the journey more complete and to make you feel that it’s a worthwhile trip, I underwent a small enhancement so that I could meet my friends in better shape in the dry season,' it continued."

From "Tallest waterfall in China is fed by pipes, officials admit/Yuntai Falls is considered China’s 'tallest uninterrupted waterfall.' Officials admitted that its water is sourced from a pipe network during the drier months" (WaPo).

I’m sure all those concerned about western use of ground surface water will be outraged by this behavior by the Chinese government. I’ll have some popcorn while I wait for their complaints…

Union Grove State Park
Union Grove State Park, established in 1938, is a picturesque outdoor destination in Tama County. The 110-acre Union Grove Lake is a focal point of the park, along with an often-photographed waterfall and dam nestled in the woods.

The Hell of It IS.. It's Actually a Really Great park, that MOST people never heard of.
There's a WHOLE (real) story about the park.. NONE of which involves a "waterfall"

"什么是真的, 什么是假的"

My favorite by far is still the Chinese zoo in HeNan that tried to pass off a Tibetan Mastiff as a lion. Half of everything in China is fake, including what they use for building materials.

Under communism and socialism, you are told to believe things that just aren't true.

And you will celebrate those things.

Things are often (always) not what they seem when China is portrayed as a first world forward thinking country.

they don't even bother to tell you where it is,

With an area of 240 square km, Yuntai Mountain is located in the Xiuwu County of Henan Province. It has a complex topography and the climate varies with the change of altitude and terrain. Because of this characteristic landform and climate, Yuntai Mountain enjoys a large area of primitive forest with more than 500 kinds of exotic flower and rare herbs grown. The geographic relics are also abundant. As a result of the crustal movement and ersion, Yuntai Landform with splendid mountains and waterscapes forms. Apart from enjoyable view, you can also feel the rich culture. Seven sages in Wei and Jin Dynasties have lived in Baijia Cliff for over twenty years. They always focused on landscape and left many anecdotes.

where does water in pipes come from?

Yeah, so?

Give the public what it wants. Better than seeing a trickle of water.

Snoqualmie Falls goes from a torrent (>30,000 cfs) during late fall and early winter to a trickle during the summer (~300 cfs). We've have our anniversary dinner at Salish Lodge in late July and the Falls are more rock than water.

Tourists come to see the water fall, not to see the water get to the top of the falls.
