"I'm getting so tired of this woke world."

I got there via the link in this Fox News tweet (which I saw because Caitlin Jenner is trending on Twitter):

Good for Jenner.

Why do we even acknowledge this bullshit and give it any space any longer? This is pure insanity. From multiple pronouns to gender dysphoria going mass and becoming a 'trend' among the young, especially the young women. Pure insanity. And to what end? Does anybody want to view the future of a society that is not even hitting replacement rate in it's own population, yet clouding up the identity of it's young people's gender, offering up made up pronouns to announce your confusion as to your own identity, defunding police, opening up all of our borders, and eliminating our production of energy?

Anybody look ahead to see how this all ends? What is the goal of these movements? Is it clear enough to you now?

And please pay attention to not only the the political party behind all of this- Democrats, but also the media outlets, schools, and importantly, the corporations behind all of this. Backing it. Insisting on it. And removing your ability to work or get loans if you do not abide by it. Such as Disney/ABC/ESPN, JP Morgan Chase, and so many others.

It never ends.

They are pulling the pendulum back as far as they can and provoking an over reaction.

And you all are over reacting.

Right now you people are attacking all transgender people as if they are all a part of this and not individuals with serious problems just like Howard does on the Russia threads.

Most transgender people are not interested in tearing the country apart or completely displacing women. They just want to be left alone like the rest of us.

Achilles said: "Most transgender people are not interested in tearing the country apart or completely displacing women. They just want to be left alone like the rest of us."

Agreed. Like any person, most would prefer to just live their life and be left alone. But we're not living in normal days. Today nothing goes unactivated. Lia Thomas could have just made her change to a woman, and went on to school, and to her life. But she choose to wipe out the women's side of swimming. This was a conscious decision to put herself front and center and not to just live her own life without trampling on others lives.

I suspect many of us personally know a trans person, or have a trans relative. Those I've known in my life just lived their lives. We're all happy for them, respect them and their courage (and it did take great courage to undergo what they did), and just treat them as the person they've chosen to be. But...they never once shoved it in anyone's face, never used it to their advantage and to lord over others with it.

However much this is a personal and private change for a person, it has been hijacked into a movement. And within the movement there are many who are ready to use it as a club to society's head.

Was Bruce really suffering in his male body? Or was it just that he had enough time to cultivate an obsession and enough money to make a whim a reality?

I don't hate Caitlyn, and certainly don't disagree with her views on men in women's sports, but she doesn't seem representative of the trans community. The angst and resentment don't appear to be there. Also, not being very athletic, I'm a little ambivalent about sports being ruined.

Ah, Howard. Always batting at the invisible flies buzzing around your head.

I'm in the big camp of "you feel as if your body doesn't match your insides AND you're an adult, go ahead and do what you can to get comfortable." I do think that body dysphoria is a mental disorder, whether it relates to your sense that your "gender" doesn't match your plumbing or other mismatches less popular in today's media world, like believing you're not thin enough until you can see daylight all the way from thighs to ankles with your feet together, or you're not beautiful enough unless your lips stick out like a duck's bill, your eyes are at a 30-degree angle to the rest of your face, and you can't form a natural expression, or you don't look strong enough unless your biceps are the size of a woman's waist (have you seen those pictures of men, primarily South American men in the ones I've seen, with biceps implants? It's grotesque). I believe the first thing to try - and the only thing to try for kids - in the effort to get comfortable is therapy.

But if you're an adult, and you've tried therapy first - do as you wish. I have relatives and friends with serious anxiety, OCD, and depression; they have also employed therapy and appropriate prescription drugs to treat and help them live with their conditions, and while these things help, they're not "cured." So I and everyone around them make necessary accommodations for them, and they themselves acknowledge that they are dealing with a disordered self- and world-view. They don't demand that the rest of the world treat their (for example) need to enter a house a certain way, following specific steps, as "normal" or as identical to the way I just walk in.

Why are trans people privileged above bulimic and anorectic people or for that matter people in the "thick and juicy" crowd? What makes this one group's shared conviction that the mismatch between their self-perception and reality is more worthy of public accommodation than others'? That this mismatch is, in fact, evidence that it's the rest of the world that has the perception problem, not they?

It's blatantly unjust, but it's woke and thus beyond criticism....Woke justice is to justice as Madonna imitators are to Madonna.... I imagine there are many burdens when you choose to become transgendered. One of those burdens should be that you forgo your chance to compete in women's athletics.

Still don’t think that would work.....original gender is a big advantage. I have gotten back into competitive powerlifting after a lot of years off. My current bench press at age 62 would put me into the all-time top 50 female lifers in the world in the same weight class regardless of age. Have also seen more participation of women (girls) in high school wrestling. Some girls may be competitive in the lower weight classes but the upper body strength difference in the higher weight classes is very difficult to overcome. Just too many differences in weight/muscle distribution.

I didn’t agree with a lot of what Jenner said. I don’t respect Thomas. Because she knows she’s gamed the system, and her accomplishments are meaningless. But she doesn’t care. And she doesn’t care her naked presence in the locker room as a fully intact anatomical male creates discomfort for some of her teammates. It’s everyone else’s problem. She’s selfish and dishonorable, and everyone close to her has allowed that. Jenner claimed you can’t just ban trans athletes. “What about trans males (former females?)” Get real, Caitlyn. That’s not an issue, and you know it.

I can celebrate Amy Schneider’s accomplishment on Jeopardy as an individual winning against other individuals. No dishonor there. Congratulations. I don’t consider it a female accomplishment, but there was no inherent unfair advantage that diminishes her status.

Smilin' Jack म्हणाले...

My interest in women’s sports pretty much ends with beach volleyball. However, even in the other sports you’re not watching because they’re great athletes, but because they’re women. It’s like Dr. Johnson’s aphorism about a dog preaching. So as we move into the brave new non-binary world, women’s sports will have to become something like the Paralympics, where there are different classes depending on how disabled you are, or in this case how womanly you are, i.e. how low your testosterone is. Of course, just as in the Paralympics there will be bitter disputes over how the classes are defined. From my observations it will be quite some time before this issue affects beach volleyball, however, so I’m not too concerned.

I may be a farmer, but my sister was caught up in the destruction of an institution that wreaked havoc on those who just wanted to do their jobs. The CEO fired or drove away the really conscientious people and was left w/kiss-ass educated dummies.

Eventually (2yrs?) after the damage was done- the state investigated and the CEO was sent packing. Idk if this institution has recovered.

I met a trans woman a couple of times. I think she was beautiful as a man, maybe finer boned- and maybe gay- idk. Guessing. When I met her the 1st time- she was decked out in a tight dress and heels and it was obvious when we exchanged bright hellos that she was trans. It confused the crap out of my about 10 yr old son. She sure could flaunt it!! The 2nd time was a conversation at someone’s home and that time it confused the crap out of me.

Definitely a very likable person trying to live her life.

I think the hormone use hurts and ages the body- when used to fight against it’s natural state.

I don't watch either but the Bell Curve (the statistics thing, not the book though related) of male intelligence is generally considered to have a wider distribution than the female one, i.e. there are more male geniuses but also more male imbeciles, and if I recall the tails on both ends stretch out farther for men. The probability is that most champions would be men unless the producers jiggered with the number of female contestants, and maybe even then they couldn't make it work out even. IIRC the fairly recently announced new highest winnings 'woman' was trans.

====

As Bunky noted, it's not really Will Thomas that's the problem, it's the NCAA. There's little issue with allowing XX chromosome people to compete in XY chromosome sports or divisions since even declaring a sex change to legally ingest hormones is unlikely to confer much of a benefit over people who went through puberty with standard XY hormones, and what issues do come up are not related to relative performance. The problem was the NCAA made their rules based on the desire to virtue signal combined with the mistaken assumption that no XY chromosome person would go through even a fig leaf sex change in order to switch to the XX divisions, completely ignoring everything we've heard about how monomaniacal athletes are at these levels of competition. Anybody willing to shave every hair off their body get a .001 second better lap time isn't going to have a problem tucking their d!ck up their a$$ for a year. The NCAA could put a hard stop to this but chose not to.

TJ म्हणाले...

I agreed with everything you said except the second to last sentence. Shaving is not "changing your body"...it grows back. Christopher B म्हणाले...

@ TJ, my apologies that my example wasn't more clearly directed at the NCAA not giving more consideration that athletes will often do things that are within the rules but potentially harmful.

As a college athlete you have a limited time to compete...that's an awful lot to give up if you put yourself in their position. Add that NCAA Championship isn't some meaningless dual meet in the middle of the season, only 281 swimmers are invited to compete. It is frankly unfair for "refusing to compete at Nationals" to be a requirement for peoples' sympathy (or empathy) for those women. The NCAA should have stood up for them, but it didn't. That is a travesty.

Thomas was a good male swimmer. I don't believe their decision to transition was made to improve their relative standing in a sport that they had 1 year left to compete. Despite that fact, the decision should have precluded them from competitive swimming in a woman's sport. That is not being a hater...we ALL make decisions that precluded us from doing things we may want to do...it's called life.
