Did Kammy administer a death blow to Biden? I didn't think so at the time, because I thought the entire episode was a joke, and that Kammy was being a racial demogogue.
But the post debate analysis is not good for Biden. We shall see.
The color made me think about the weddings I went to over the years where purple was the theme. I tried to remember how many of those marriages made it through the ups and downs of life.
Thinking of weddings, the Anglican Prayer Book service for weddings is about as good as you can get in the English Language to consecrate a lifelong commitment (it beats swearing to the Constitution "so help me...ME). Shakespeare, the King James Bible, the Anglican Prayer Book are about the best you can get in the English Language if to take some vow.
If you have had no sense of Christian God, I'm guessing Hitchens, Hume, and Neil deGrasse Tyson sound something like Shakespeare.

Josh Barro: My take on the debate, which I elaborate on @LRCkcrw today, is Biden did pretty well. He has the easiest task, not because he’s the front runner, but because his message is so simple: “Did you like Obama? I’ll do more of that.” All Biden has to do is play the hits and he did. Harris did well too but everyone but Biden not only has to make the case for themselves but a Why Not Biden case. And if the Stan Greenberg research is indicative, both Biden and Harris made a positive impression in that exchange. Ties go to the leader.
Me: But he's a weak front runner only at 30% so who knows? Honestly I didn't watch the debate. The election is a long time from now. Why can't it be a 6 week election this is crazy.

The media is doing exactly what I predicted prior to the debate- they don't want Biden, and it doesn't matter if he was Obama's VP. They want a female, a black female, or a homosexual- in that order. A white male is at the bottom of the media wish list. So Warren was declared the winner Wednesday, and Harris was declared the winner last night. Now, I thought Warren did a poor job after the first 1/2 hour and I thought Booker was the best of that group by a pretty wide margin. Harris probably did win last night in my judgment, and I didn't think Biden did anything memorable and good until he was attacked.
I had put Harris at the top months ago, but had started to doubt that judgment since about late April, but I now think I was right all along- she is going to win the Dem nomination.
You want to know how bad they want Harris- watch how the big papers and news networks cover the story about Harris likely lying about being a bused student. Only being covered by the right-wing media, no one else so far.

Asked by Peter Baker of the New York Times about comments made by Putin that “western liberalism was obsolete,” Trump answered by talking about Democrats in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
I am not making this up. You can’t make this shit up:
Come on, Chuck, the term "liberal" lost its classical meaning long ago. That's why people who mean "classicl liberal" always preface there remarks with something like "I mean liberal in the classical sense."
chickelit: That is why you have to watch that CSPAN video. Peter Baker set it up. He referenced Putin's comments. And Putin's comments had nothing to do with California Democrats. Putin doesn't give a rip about California Democrats. "Western liberalism" is all it takes, for someone of the most basic (and I mean a decent prep school even without any college or other training in political philosophy or international relations) education to understand the usage of the term. And since when did we in the U.S. start dividing up liberal democrats into east and west?
You Trump apologists cannot squirm out of this one. The guy is an idiot. This is crazy, it is so funny.
Chuck: "I am afraid you are mistaking me for someone who has an interest in fair treatment of Donald Trump. I'm not your guy. I am interested in smearing him, hurting him and prejudicing people against him."
Those of you who are fans of Bujold’s Vorkosigan saga and think that Aral ever became totally straight will be upset to read Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen. But Captain Vorpatril’s Alliance is worth a read, and Tej Arqua will vouch for his heterosexuality.
You Trump apologists cannot squirm out of this one. The guy is an idiot. This is crazy, it is so funny.
The problem, Chuck, is that "Western Liberalism" isn't widely understood either. It's not like he said "Liberal Democracy" or "Western Democracy" or even "Western Liberal." The "ism" suffix in "liberalism" tinges the term "liberal" towards that sick and twisted branch of philosophy that you and I know as "liberalism" of the sort practiced by Pelosi et al. So I give Trump a pass and call this just he latest "gotcha" attempt to smear Trump. Fail

My first thought after reading Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen was "Was this really necessary?" I would much rather have read another story about Miles or Ivan. Hell even a story about Mark.
Sometimes there seems to be a competition among writers to see who can be the most woke. Bujold would definitely be one of the favorites.

Of course you give him a pass. What I would say about all of you Trump Cultists is that Trump could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone, and you'd still vote for him. I would think about saying that, as a way of insulting you. But Trump himself already said it, and it didn't even make a dent. Trump's adoring fans -- like you -- didn't even understand how he was insulting them. So how could I expect for you to get this one, which is ninth-grade ridiculousness, when you weren't even comprehending first-grade ridiculousness in 2016?
Asked by Peter Baker of the New York Times about comments made by Putin that “western liberalism was obsolete,” Trump answered by talking about Democrats in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
How is this controversial? Democratic politicians in places like Los Angeles and San Francisco have been abject failures and have tarnished the reputation of the word "liberal". The Democrats and the Left agree, which is why they have returned to the term "Progressive". Once people wake up to the disaster that the Progressives have been again, they'll move on to something else. Maybe back to liberal, but probably on to something like Antifa.
Of course you give him a pass. What I would say about all of you Trump Cultists is that Trump could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone, and you'd still vote for him.
This could change if Democrats (and Republicans) would put up a better candidate. That's all it would take.
I'm a mechanistic chemist by training. There is a class of chemical reactions called substitution, wherein one entity is swapped for another; old bands are broken and new bonds are formed. There are two basic ways for that to happen: (1) the old bond breaks and the new entity quickly comes in and forms a new bond; the tipping point is when the the old bond breaks. (2) The other mechanism is when the new entity comes in and assists the departure of the old entity; the tipping point in the latter case is when both entities (leaving and departing) are still tenuously bound. The latter mechanism is faster in general and "easier." Yet the Dems and you insist on the the hard way: "blow Trump out first and then think of a replacement." It won't fly Orville. It's bassackwards. Stop wasting our time on destruction 100% of the time and focus on promoting your alternative. That is what Trump did.
he Dems are about to learn a hard lesson on the mechanism of replacing Biden. They are desperately trying to untie Biden from his supporters and replace him with Kamala Harris, claiming that she is better. They are doing this in the typical contrived way by telling us that she is better and lying about what a nasty person she really is. I predict that Biden will fall, due to age and exhaustion, But Harris will not succeed either because she is fraud at heart and protected by the media. She is a female Obama -- seemingly insulated from criticism.

OMG.
Where to begin.
I know I'll regret it but I'll just ask it; what do you think the Russian President Putin was talking about when he was suggesting in an interview with the Financial Times (a British publication) that Western liberalism was obsolete?
Trump usually thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. And that the journalists he faces off with are badly informed, or worse.

Try harder, Chuck.
chickelit: That is why you have to watch that CSPAN video.

This will not end well, like feeding gremlins
Agreed. Let's not put Lenin on the train to Moscow!
Chuck: "I am afraid you are mistaking me for someone who has an interest in fair treatment of Donald Trump. I'm not your guy. I am interested in smearing him, hurting him and prejudicing people against him."
Consider the source.
(every thread, every comment, Chuck)
Those of you who are fans of Bujold’s Vorkosigan saga and think that Aral ever became totally straight will be upset to read Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen. But Captain Vorpatril’s Alliance is worth a read, and Tej Arqua will vouch for his heterosexuality.
You got a problem with the CSPAN video, Fen? All that anybody needs to do is watch Trump, in his own words.
"Western liberalism." LMFAO.

How is this controversial? Democratic politicians in places like Los Angeles and San Francisco have been abject failures and have tarnished the reputation of the word "liberal". The Democrats and the Left agree, which is why they have returned to the term "Progressive". Once people wake up to the disaster that the Progressives have been again, they'll move on to something else. Maybe back to liberal, but probably on to something like Antifa.

It's hot here. I'm going for a swim. BBL

And you still don't get it.
You must be a government employee.
