I asked, in the comments this morning's post about Trump's all-caps tweet, which ends with me saying "Meddling. We openly meddle and yet demand not to be meddled with."
The commenter Rob came through:
Thanks!

Now do one with "Don't Meddle With Them", or, if you believe that strong powers can do whatever they want (Spoiler: They can), go with "The Lion Doesn't Care What The Sheep Think".
I like the Pink Floyd album Meddle. "Fearless" is a good tune.
Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling
Merciless, the magistrate turns 'round, frowning
and who's the fool who wears the crown?
Will Iran test our mettle?
Seems like a libertarian motto for the ages...

We're in the middle of a meddle muddle.
Althouse, if you haven't watched Firefly, give it a try. This is a scene from the movie that followed the end of the TV series:

Yes, it is about meddling.
Or perhaps this would have been more appropriate.
I approve this message.
Now do one with the British Lion begging islamic supremacists not to throw acid in a 3 year old toddlers face in broad daylight in a store.
They meddle us fer are freedumb!
Don't meddle and the image of the rattlesnake is ridiculous and takes away the meaning of the original flag. Meddle is a weak word. Tread is a strong word.
Meddling with a snake is likened to poking at it with a stick, teasing or otherwise annoying, from a distance. The don't meddle with me sentiment, is just a way to ask to be left alone.
The don't TREAD on me is is a direct threat. When you tread on a snake you are now it its territory. Up direct and personal Not a pussyfooting namby pamby don't meddle plea. Don't tread on me...don't mess with me....don't fuck with me..... or ELSE you WILL be bitten by a venomous snake. There WILL be consequences. Bad ones.
The flag was just fine as it was. Make up your own flag.
Rob: Good on ya, mate.
You know I'm a crawlin' diamondback rattlesnake, baby, and I rules my den
You know I'm a crawlin' diamondback rattlesnake, baby, and I rules my den
I don't want you hangin' around my mate; wanna use her for myself
You know you caught me crawlin', baby, when the, when the grass was very high
You know I'm gon' crawl up to your window, baby
Wanna crawl up to your door; you got anything I want, baby?
Wanna crawl up on your floor
Because I'm a crawlin' diamondback rattlesnake, baby, and I rules my den
(Sorry, John Lee!)
Trump isn't the one obsessing on meddling. It's the left, and only as a coverup.
The original Gadsden flag is the one I wish that Betsy Ross had gone with, instead of the stars and stripes.
"Fearless" is a good tune.
One of These Days is better. :)
harrogate: "They meddle us fer are freedumb"
What a hot, new, edgy (always "edgy") take on things!
We've never heard that one before! I can't believe they haven't build entire lefty TV networks around that sentiment.....oh, wait. Right.
William Chadwick: "The original Gadsden flag is the one I wish that Betsy Ross had gone with, instead of the stars and stripes."
Chicks man. Chicks.

Mocking the idea of freedom clearly shows the lunatic left's values.
As ye meddle, so shall ye be meddled with.
Russia is a best a Sliver meddlist. The USA has been the World Gold meddlist since the late 80s.
This should garner some attention, maybe an Instalanche.
As ye meddle, so shall ye be meddled with.
We owe our nation's existence in part to France's meddling in the affairs of the British Empire.
It's cute, in an internet-meme sort of way, although it doesn't quite measure up to the AK-47 on the (real) flag of Mozambique.
What are we to make of the meaning? Is it a joke on "meddling"? Should we think that all of the talk of meddling is unserious? I'm not clear on which Trump answer supports that notion, or ridicules it. It depends where the second hand is, right?
Instead of General Gadsden's rattlesnake, should we, uh, have a flag bearing the image of a 400-lb. guy in a basement with a computer? But that would be a different joke, right?
"Don't meddle and the image of the rattlesnake is ridiculous and takes away the meaning of the original flag. Meddle is a weak word. Tread is a strong word."
That's what I like about it. It's funny.
My favorite variation.
No step on snek.
France's meddling
I read last weekend that (also Bourbon) Spain activated their fleet to threaten the Brits, who prioritized their Caribbean sugar islands cash cow over blockading us, all because they had let their navy languish after the Seven Years War. The combined fleets were about equal in size if not effectiveness to the British one.
First I heard Spain was even involved.
Meddle is a weak word. Tread is a strong word."
She can't use a strong word to object to a few idiotic facebook memes. That contrast is the whole point.
It looks like Sasha Cohen actually did something funny.
He posed as an ex-Mossad agent and convinced some dumb fuck GA Republican to scream Nigger, imitate a Chinese person, and drop his pants, all in the name of teaching him "personal security"
I guess you can convince Southerners of anything, as long as you claim to be from Israel. Why? You got me.

My first thought also.
I shot a seven foot rattler with a .38+p hollow point. No snake no more.
"Again: you find that having more mutational load, more deleterious mutations, increased your chance of schizophrenia, or autism, or low IQ: that strongly suggests schizophrenia, autism , and low IQ are not the far edge of some strategy. Note: people talking about shamans and schiz: you’re probably wrong. Same for autism – not a strategy."
OT:
I am thoroughly amused by Stormy Daniels' lawyer asking the public to respect her privacy during her divorce.
Sure, we'll give that all due consideration.
I found a picture of Chuck.
It's about time we out this asshole.
Yes, this is the real Chuck.
How about: "I don't collude well"?
We are likely to hit 4% GDP growth despite the predictions of LLR Chuck's lefty economist heroes.
As if everything wasn't hard enough for LLR Chuck, now he has to find some way to minimize that achievement.
For LLR & #StrongDemDefender Chuck and his lefty allies, these are indeed the times that try men's souls.....
Some theme music: Echoes-Side B of Meddle.
Hahahhahahha!
The Russians were diddling us.
Andrew McCarthy eats some crow. I like the guy, so it isn't any joy watching the scales fall from his eyes.
Speaking of meddlers (in elections both foreign and domestic) I see where Trump is considering pulling the security clearances of Comey, Clapper, Rice, McCabe and Brennan. In light of Mueller's indictment of Russian army officers for "hacking" the DNC computers, maybe Trump could propose a deal: Putin lets Russian hackers appear in US courts to answer charges and Trump delivers up Brennan, Nuland and other Obama officials suspected of meddling in Russian elections to Russian justice.
Now that's gonna put a stop to everyone meddling in elections!
Let's try this again
Chuck

Best version of Echoes I've seen/heard is from their Live at Pompeii session.
Won't link, but it's out there ... along with other stuff from that recording.
New-found appreciation for Nick Mason.
Don’t meddle in my sticking my fangs into people and objecting venom.
I prefer the motto "No Muddled Meddling". And the flag should show an open hand with the word "Moolah" emblazoned across the palm. That combination should give pause to naysayers and evildoers everywhere.
Don't Piddle On Me
Don't snakesplain me.
Better than no meddling is a high standard.
I'll generously assume you are simply getting yourself off on a slow day with this tripe....Wordsmithess as you are, you nonetheless ignored/trampled the very meaning of 'meddle' ...now you're just going to ramble around in escape and evasion?
Very disappointing.
You can't disguise yourself Chuck.
Sell T-shirts.
What is the rationale for continuing security classifications for former government employees?
What is the rationale for continuing security classifications for former government employees?
They're easier to hire as consultants. That's all I have....
Do Hillary Clinton, Valerie Jarrett, Loretta Lynch, or Eric Holder still have security clearances?
What would happen if the Ukraines, Israelis, Europeans, and countless south and central american countries indicted Brennan, Clapper, Obama and all the others who have meddled in their elections? What if Libya indicted Hillary or Egypt indicted Obama? How would we respond? Think of it, there are probably very few elections around the world that we haven't meddled in in some way or other.
Has Mueller really thought this indicted-foreign-national activity though? If it becomes an accepted practice, the US will be in for a lot of hurt and a lot of people won't be able to travel to a lot of places with extradition treaties.
"should we, uh, have a flag bearing the image of a 400-lb. guy in a basement with a computer?"
Would have more weight behind it than the FISA apps.
But really..you gotta lay off the pizza pizza.
OldManRick: "Has Mueller really thought this indicted-foreign-national activity though?"
Get Trump.
At all costs. No matter what the cost.
Otherwise, in the end, Rosensstein gets fired and a Trump ally is put in as the DOJ #2 and forces the Mueller hack team of lefties to come clean....assuming we don't get Rosenstein-ed again....which is possible depending on the where the Senate is.
Guys like Burr of NC can't get his nose far enough up Democrat Warner's rear end.
It's perfect. The flag's message is, "We're a nation of treacherous snakes."
In Libya it wasn't election.
US was "delivering" arms to Islamists / rebels and not everyone was read in.
Wondering what Hillary's payoff was.
As long as slave states were intended to be included in the federal structure, Gadsden flag could not be adopted without drawing attention to Founders' hypocrisy
It was foolish to abandon spoils system ... Transparency was lost and found cover for entrenched corruption.
"DON'T MEDDLE WITH ME" in ALL CAPS! That's super serious!
I'd like a version that reads "WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!"
Take that, King George the Third.
PPPT: "It's perfect. The flag's message is, "We're a nation of treacherous snakes."
From your lips to the Democrat National Committee Campaign Theme committee.
Narayanan Subramanian: "As long as slave states were intended to be included in the federal structure, Gadsden flag could not be adopted without drawing attention to Founders' hypocrisy"
The Founders themselves debated that and the anti-slavery advocates knew the only choice they had was compromise with the Southern states or lose the founding.
It's easy to sit here now and judge them for that.
This contest in tweeting silly is hard to understand though apparently it works for Trump.
But all I can think of is the barbershop scene in The Great Dictator.
Or, story my sister told me about her time in Malaysia. She fired her amah for neglecting the children and the amah threatened to put a Malay curse on her, so my sister told her she had better not even think about it or she would put a Norwegian curse on the amah that would be much bigger and stronger than any curse ever heard of in Malaysia before and the amah bashfully slunk away.
Rattlers are territorial. If you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. But you step on one at your own risk. The are not harmless snakes. They carry venom in their pits, like Trump carries the latest space weapons.
From your lips to the Democrat National Committee Campaign Theme committee.
They're not the ones using the flag, so, you know - look at the picture, you typically idiotic gullible Republican.
PPPT: "....you typically idiotic gullible Republican."
Sorry your hoax "dossier" didn't work out.
Oh, I see "Craig" is back with another sock puppet.
@Drago ... How influential were northern financial interests that were invested in the slave trade in driving the compromise? was it not possible to form two federations with mutual defense treaty?
Prohibitng importation of slaves was good first step. Fugitive slave laws were more than two steps back. I also heard ... main reason for moving capital to Washington ... To enable southern legislators to staff up household with no fear of runaways as might have happened in Philadelphia.
I am pretty sure all owned slaves , would like to know exceptions.
No meddling as a Foreign policy? Policy being handcuffs and declarations of weakness. In the golden age our policy is peace and strategic ambiguity. Peace thru overwhelming economic power. Obstruct at your peril. We will shrink the Defense complex to 1% of GDP, vice 3%. Others will have to match along with cost of governance of a mostly free people and their free enterprise to compete. Which will end oligarchs and their fiefdoms. Chairs of armed services committees and worse around the globe. Peace as enforced by economic exile. Negotiated harvesting of South China Sea to the benefit of all as an example to all. Now that invasion is silly given all have WMD, a fertilizer plant makes war gasses, an insecticide plant in a baby formula trailer humanicide, and, a high school bio lab even worse horrors. See My friend the late great Joshua Lederberg. So, the policy is peace. It’s time for the next generation to take charge, freed from the shackles of the past to solve the horrendous problems we’ve left them. The T party can’t lose if T says, “Senator Rand, here are the keys and you’re late”. The millennials will swoon in 2020.
The Guardian does not seem to agree with a commenter here.
A combination of factors ranging from economic grievances and a lack of social and political freedoms to international pressure and sanctions has put the country under unprecedented pressure. Many Iranians would now agree with Mohammad that the country faces a pivotal moment.
“People are desperate to find a way out,” he says. “If it’s war, so it be, but quick; if it’s reaching an agreement, so it be, but quick; if it’s regime change, so it be, but quick.”
Narayanan Subramanian: "@Drago ... How influential were northern financial interests that were invested in the slave trade in driving the compromise? was it not possible to form two federations with mutual defense treaty?"
I'm not sure how possible it would have been to form two federations.
Your point about northern interests supplying the ships and financing for the slave trade is well founded. The Triangle Trade was just as much the responsibility of some of those northern interests as the southerners.
However there were a number of northern founders who were adamantly opposed both to slavery within the states and the financing of the trade.
@ DBQ
"Don't tread on me...don't mess with me....don't fuck with me..." Pretty much sums up what I said yesterday in an earlier thread where I said that I would have no problem changing to the national motto to "Don't Mess With Us!" Because "Don't Fuck With Us!" is just a tad too profane to put on our coins, although the sense of it is exactly the same.
I like this variant:
"No one attacks me with impunity"
Clyde, are those the Montresor colors?
@ Bad Lieutenant
No; in the story, the Montresor family coat of arms is described as a golden foot in a blue background crushing a snake whose fangs are embedded in the foot's heel, with the motto Nemo me impune lacessit ("No one attacks me with impunity"). Per Wikipedia.
I thought I remembered some good old argent and azure. I must say I don't find the yellow attractive. Nero Wolfe aside, I understand yellow to be commonly the favorite color of psychopaths. Perhaps in ye olden days yellow cloth was easier to come by than others.
