For the annals of accidental acronyms.
George Mason University’s law school, having changed its name to the Antonin Scalia School of Law, changes the name again. It's now the Antonin Scalia Law School.

And people will shorten it to Nino Law.
They needed to work harder to somehow get it to Aslan.
I used to have a cap from Fordham that said FU.
If it could have been ASS LAW at FU, that would be something.
It'll be easy enough to drop the "L" and keep the acronym .
ASS Law has a nice ring to it, though.
Tank, I attended South Carolina's small, Southern-Baptist affiliated Furman University. We, too, had fun with the initials.
One football cheer went:
F U One Time!
F U Two Times!
F U ALL THE TIME!
Nino Law sounds fantastic, and should be adopted by acclamation immediately.
Antonin Scalia School of Law
ASS of Law.
Scalia was kind of the "ass of law." Someone needed to tell Bader Ginsberg what was what, and always doing that oh so respectfully wouldn't properly convey the shortcomings of her arguments.
mikee....
Speaking of South Carolina football cheers,
Hey, how 'bout them cocks?
Reminiscent of when Ronald Reagan retired in 1989 to 666 St. Cloud Road in Bel Air, and Nancy refused to join him until the address was officially changed to 668 St. Cloud Road. The old quip ran something along the lines of “that’s great for the Reagans, but where’s the devil supposed to live now?”

Ah, but now the male students there can refer to themselves as: "ASLS chaps".
Shouldn't that headline read: "From the Anals of Accidental Acronyms?" -CP
They could have used a bumblebee as their mascot.
I'm reminded of the Unitarian church in Kensington that billed itself the "First Unitarian Church of Berkeley in Kensington" so as to evade the obvious acronym. (Now it's the "Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley," which doesn't lend itself to ribaldry.)
the address was officially changed to 668 St. Cloud Road.
666: the number of the Beast
668: the neighbor of the Beast.
Friends University of Central Kansas, a small Quaker college in Wichita
Ah. I'm slow witted. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why Prof. Althouse would mock this name change to honor Justice Scalia. But now I get it: she wasn't mocking Justice Scalia, just those who missed the obvious acronym (which included, until now, me).
1838, Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist, ch. 61: "If the law supposes that," said Mr. Bumble, squeezing his hat emphatically in both hands, "the law is a ass — a idiot."
Nino Law has a nice ring.
The name of the team was, " Fulton Unity Christian Knight"
I kid you not.
