Big stick diplomacy.

These two should be conducting our foreign policy.

They seem to have a good grasp on it.

Must be getting old. The yoke went over my head for a couple of minutes.

From Laslo...Let them eat urinal cake.

Is there an analogous product in the ladies room?...or is this a sexist micro-aggression against men?

Two of my dogs used to grapple with sticks like that. The older one learned that she merely had to hang around and wait out the young dog. I call her the "stick stealer".

Love my garden, however, in the last two seasons, snakes have dampened my spirits in going out there and doing stuff. There was a black snake on the porch last July and then my gardener had seen one or two around the house. We put moth balls everywhere as repellent -- he said it works and I think it worked. And then, walking about in Georgetown on Saturday, we saw another black snake, a hefty one just on the side of Key bridge. So they are out already. Watch out for that snake in the grass.

@pm317,

What's the matter with black snakes? They're harmless. You know why you saw a black snake in Georgetown? Rats. They eat rats. To which I say, "God bless you, black snake, & keep up the good work!".

@YoungHegelian,

You're right -- black snakes are harmless but a snake is a snake. I would not want to step on one. Though I have started to fondly refer to it as Blackie. Maybe it will make me less nervous when I see my 'friend' Blackie next time.

I don't like to step on snakes either. But I appreciate the pest control they bring. Around here, we don't have rats but we do have chipmunks — cute little tunneling destroyers of foundations who ruin almost-ripe tomatoes by taking a single bite and skittering on to the next one. Neighbors tell me we wouldn't have chipmunks if only we get a couple of cats. To which I say, "Yeah, but then we'd have cats."

Oh, these look like some lucky, happy dogs. I just had two Grandpups for a long weekend. Miss them! On the other hand, not. I can be lazy, my house can be clean, etc.
