I was walking my dog this morning, ran into a single mom who was walking her dog and carrying her baby. She had just given birth a couple of months before.
What a hard choice that must have been. She was so happy.
Reading the commentary on the British election - I can't get over the way in which Labour is analyzing its defeat. They aren't saying that the voters sent them a message and they have to listen. No - they are saying that Cameron crafted a successful lie for the voters and next time Labour needs to do a better job of thwarting Cameron's message. Labour isn't out of touch with people's aspirations, Labour has nothing to learn, Labour is wonderful, wonderful.
It's just like Wisconsin in 2010. That's exactly how the teacher's unions responded and are still responding. It's eerie. I think maybe that what people want world-wide has moved into the left's "blind spot". In car the "blind spot" is the place in a car mirror where you can't see what's coming up behind you. If you set the mirrors wrong that spot can be very large. The left just can't see what's coming up and that suggests that what is coming up is a wish for all the things the government cannot get for you and cannot stop threatening to take from you. All the goods of private life, quiet streams, quiet dreams, true love, watering the lawn as the sun goes down, looking beyond the blue horizon.
Given this administration's track record, when I heard Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez was heading to Baltimore last week I thought it was to unionize the rioters.
It tells a bigger, longer, more historic story about what is becoming of Labour: it is shifting from being an outlet for the expression of trade unionist and working people’s interests to being a kind of encampment for the chattering classes, a safe space, if you like, for a secular, pseudo-liberal clerisy. Hey look, Labour has Democrat's disease!

"Offensive to my religion. Beheading to commence shortly."

I know of only two places where star of bethlehem comes up, both on a road that's too potholed to ride a bike on this year, so I missed the blooming.
It always grows where there's poison ivy.
It's a sin thing.
My mother lived in three centuries. I still miss her and it is 14 years this summer. 1898 to 2001.
Prince does a Baltimore tribute song.
If you feel the world is stacked against you, but you have "your pants on the ground" - you did the stacking.

Fun stuff: the history of Häagen-Daz ice cream.
We learned something new today.
(So not sorry, am I, on account of not being interested in discussing British politics here, of all things.)
Not to mention in all places.
You're a crazy diamond, Althouse! :)

I hope your kids give you a nice Mothers Day, Anne.
