"Why don’t they get a life and talk about something else? People deserve better."

From a list in Politico titled "Harry Reid’s insults: 10 greatest hits." That headline makes it sound as though he was some sort of master of the insult, perhaps not an Oscar Wilde, but at least a Don Rickles. But the closest he comes to saying anything striking/offbeat is...
When [George W.] Bush invited Reid for coffee in the Oval Office in the final weeks of his presidency, the president’s dog walked in, and Reid says he insulted the president’s pet. “Your dog is fat,” he said.
Also, this one isn't an insult per se...
“[Reid] was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a ‘light-skinned’ African-American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.’”
... or not an insult to Obama anyway. It is an insult to Americans in general and it's a hurtful statement indirectly aimed at black people.

People do deserve better.

Yes , people deserve Scott Walker's throne of skulls treatment! People deserve the brilliant, tear-jerking warmth of Ted Cruz! That's what people deserve.

"Negro dialect?" You mean, like Bantu?

He said while our good men and women were still out there, fighting.

Hilarious.

As long as we're clearing the geezer bench, let John McCain go next...

Michael K म्हणाले...

I don't know of McCain as given to insults.

I think of Obama giving Hillary the finger in a debate. He is petty and passive-aggressive.

Reid is a terrible example of someone who plays the system for all its worth using every deception that works. His Will To Power was what attracted others that wanted a share of power. There is not a sincere bone in his body.

Gahrie म्हणाले...

Harry Reid is a nasty, evil, corrupt, hypocritical. power mad troll. He is a symbol of everything that is bad about politics, and nothing that is good. People like him are the only reason why I have any hope that Hell exists, so he can get his just punishment.

Birches म्हणाले...

I meant next to retire from the Senate.

Why do you hate Mormons, you bigot?

SJ म्हणाले...

@HammondXGritzkofe,

I would have guessed Swahili. Or possibly Xhosa.

Unless what they really mean is some sort of Creole language.

(If Obama spoke his ancestral tongue, it would be Dholuo. Which I had never heard of before researching it today.)

अनामित म्हणाले...

How weird: Reid is famous for his lies, not his insults. It's like reading an article about Led Zeppelin's 10 greatest keyboard solos.

William म्हणाले...

I think that the author of the article wanted to do a hit piece on Reid without actually labeling it as such. Surely over the course of a lifetime he must have said something more perceptive and witty than "your dog is fat".......When he doesn't break down and sob openly, Boehner is pretty cool. But the other Congressional leaders, Reid, McConnell, Pelosi are annoying. Well, now the Dems have Schumer, My feeling is that he will take annoying to a whole new level.

Obama's election is proof that the American voter's intelligence can't be insulted.

Harry Reid is such a hack even his insults are third-rate.

Harry Reid is so ugly that an "exercise accident" made him look better.

Harry Reid is so verbally challenged he thinks Obama is eloquent.

Harry Reid is so Progressive that he likes light-skinned Negroes.

Harry Reid would have given George Carlin two more dirty words.

I'll note "Best Hits" is subjective. Reid is a fucking ass and cancer is to good for him.

The Cracker Emcee Refulgent म्हणाले...

I'm more upset about the fat dog comment than the tommin' for white liberals comment. Does that make me a bad person?

Tom म्हणाले...

While we're on the subject of Harry Reid, the story of how his eye was injured, supposedly from exercise equipment, doesn't pass the smell test. (And that's before it changed several times.) The bruising has all the hallmarks of a fist to the face. After all, Harry has had shady friends in Vegas for many, many years. They might be leaning on him to retire, too.

@Hammond X. Gritzkofe

Bantu is a language group. It includes Zulu, Xhosa, N'debele and others.

paminwi म्हणाले...

"BUT THIS ACCIDENT HAS COST US FOR THE FIRST TIME TO HAVE A LITTLE DOWNTIME. TIME TO PONDER AND TO THINK. WE'VE GOT TO BE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE COUNTRY, THE SENATE, THE STATE OF NEVADA, THEN US AND AS A RESULT OF THAT I AM NOT GOING TO RUN FOR REELECTION. "

Read what he actually said. He said "it was time to be concerned about the country.....[rather] than us"(meaning him and his wife). So, isn't he saying in other words that for years and years it was all about HIM?

Drago म्हणाले...

Looks like the entire Reid clan will have to find a means to support themselves other than having Harry clear the way with Washington focused crony capitalism.

It breaks my heart.

Rich B म्हणाले...

अनामित म्हणाले...

Though not an insult, Reid's lie about having proof that Romney, a fellow Mormon, didn't pay taxes was insulting on so many levels.

July 2012: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) claimed Tuesday in an interview that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney refuses to release additional tax returns because he didn’t pay taxes for 10 years.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/2chambers/post/harry-reid-mitt-romney-didnt-pay-taxes-for-10-years/2012/07/31/gJQADXkSNX_blog.html

Michael Fitzgerald म्हणाले...

So Paminwi, are we to further infer that Senator Reid has decided that it would be in the nation's best interest that he no longer infest the Senate with his presence? Because it is entirely out of character for Reid to be motivated by what would be good for America.

RichardJohnson म्हणाले...

One of Harry Reid's greatest insults
—On being a Hispanic Republican: “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, OK. Do I need to say more?” (August 2010)

The context of that statement makes the comment even more insulting. Reid's son Rory was running for governor was running against Brian Sandoval. Rory lost. Too bad.

kzookitty म्हणाले...

Reid is an insult.

Wonder if once he's out the Senate and useless to them, his "associates" will be measuring him for a concrete overcoat?
