"Fox News has cut ties with contributor Dr. Ben Carson..."

"... after learning that the neurosurgeon-turned-conservative commentator plans to air a 40-minute ad promoting his bid for the Republican presidential nomination."

I look forward to hearing the calm, sane voice of Dr. Carson, easing us into the new election cycle.

Ploufe and his ilk on Obama's side have been goading/threatening for Hillary to announce the new election cycle so she takes all the attention away from Obama and his two more years of incompetence. Better it is the good doctor than her right now to start the new cycle.

40 minute ad!?

Can we just get someone with experience and competence for a change.

No.

I am not an enthusiast for Carson, no matter that he is a nice man. He would be a good Surgeon General or Senator.

Let me guess: Sunday at 1:00 Eastern on CBS or Fox, when I'm tuning in expecting to see a football game?

Ben Carson is by all accounts a fine surgeon, a great speaker, and says many things I want to hear.

But this is no time for on-the-job training in the White House.

Plus, the fact that he rules out a run for House or Senate as "starting at ground zero" (well, yes, sort of the point) is unsettling.

Also, there's no way, let's face it, Democrats and "progressives" will vote for a black Republican. Look at the racial vitriol they spew at the ones we've already put in office. They are indeed their parents' Democratic Party at heart.

The ones that crazy won't vote for a white one either. There's no tactical reason not to vote for a black person, but personally if we're going to lose for being color blind I am 100% OK with that.

My only concern is that the guy really isn't qualified for this. I think he's more qualified than a Mitt Romney, though (experience failing isn't experience). We need to look over the competition and pick the least bad one. All of them will fall short in some ways.

Ben Carson seems like a thoughtful and intelligent man. He could probably win an election for State Senator, if he picked the right district. Why he wants to be President, or thinks he could be elected, is an utter mystery. No one would even pretend to take him seriously if he were white.

Plus if he does run the left will present some ho who will swear Carson brushed against her ass 25 years ago. Scandal!

I doubt if the idea is actually to be elected. I think he sees good in being a voice in the debate.

How is "Fox News Cuts ties" the headline?

I think Ben Carson is running for Vice President. The idea is to acquit yourself well in the debates and position yourself as a way to balance the ticket.

A plausible interpretation.

When the Republic was young, it was thought unseemly that candidates for office should openly campaign. That chaste reticence is so far forgotten that the pursuit of the Presidency has become a spectator sport, and a vehicle for those who pursue other goals entirely. Perhaps Pepsi should run for President, or Google. I guess Google isn't old enough, but I don't see why that should stop them from running some ads.

I really like Ben Carson for President, for several reasons.

A couple of nights ago I watched the movie, staring Cuba Gooding Jr. as Ben Carson. It wasn't a great movie, but if it's 75% accurate, his life story is fascinating.

Is he ready to be President? If we never had an Obama Presidency, I'd say no.

But considering that our country is still the greatest nation on God's green Earth after 6 years of King Putt? I think just about anyone can be President.

So, pro's and con's of Ben Carson.

CON: He supports restrictions on the 2nd amendment. I believe he supports bigger government than I do (Although not big government). According to a Wikipedia article on him, he's already backed down on some of the things he has said after being challenged by the media over them (Like calling Obamacare the worst thing since slavery). We don't need a mush like Tim Pawlenty, we need someone tough like Chris Christie.

PRO: He is socially conservative and fiscally conservative. He is charismatic and appealing. He will be hard to demonize as anti minority. Minorities are clearly much more socially conservative than the Democrat party is, but they reflexively vote Democrat because they are made to fear the "white male" boogie man of the Republican party. The media isn't going to be able to demonize Ben Carson like they can other candidates in this regard, not just because he is black, but also because he is such a charismatic, gentle man, known for the care and regard he gives to patients.

I'm cautiously optimistic about a Ben Carson candidacy. I have hopes that in him, we can get another Reagan candidate. Someone who can make the conservative case to the American electorate and not find themselves marginalized by the media (Because the media will get a lot of push back when they try the typical demonizing strategies).

I look forward to the primaries and how he does articulating his policy positions among a stellar, crowded field of candidates like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Scott Walker.

And if true, then no, d*mn him to h*ll. I'd vote for Cthulu before I'd vote for one more person who favors gun control.

Carson is selective on gun control. For it in the cities, against it in rural areas - http://www.mediaite.com/tv/conservative-hero-ben-carson-to-beck-you-have-no-right-to-semi-automatic-weapons-in-large-cities/

An instant no vote
