"Sometimes, a Jewish person just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a Jewish person..."
"And Chuck Schumer is not it for us," said a Jewish person the NYT found in the hotel lobby after a meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition, quoted in "Republican Jews Alarmed at the Prospect of a Void in the House and Senate."

Gingers like me need ginger representation. The right kind too. Buckley ginger.
The alarmist theme of that whole NYT piece was based on musings of Mrs. Goldstein, a "Repbulican donor" from Beachwood, Ohio?
Right-wing Jews tend to live in the same places as left-wing Jews, so their votes get lost among the Democratic majorities where they live.
It's real easy to submerge 2% of the US population into a much larger voting mass (e.g. the South has a large fraction of the countries blacks who vote Dem., but they are surrounded by a larger Repub. white majority). Indeed the question isn't why are there so few Jews of any political persuasion in Congress, but why are there so many compared to their numbers among the population?
“It is a very right-wing party, more so than in the past,” said Representative Jerrold Nadler, Democrat of New York. “And by so doing it is alienating most of the Jewish electorate, and becoming an increasingly monochromatic party without minorities of any kind.”
I like how the NYT gets some Jewish Democrat from New York to pass judgement unopposed on the national Republican Party. If the Republicans have become more conservative lately, then it should be possible to produce quotations where in the past, before the Republicans went all troglodytic, where liberal NY Jews had something nice to say about Christian Southerners. Good luck on finding it!
Jewish Person? A person who happens to be Jewish?
Are Jewish Persons born that way or is it a choice? (Actually a serious question from some perspectives.)
I have known Jewish Persons all my life, and I (and they) have always referred to such persons cordially and respectfully as Jews. However, if this is changing, I can deal with it. I will insist, however, on being called a Christian Person.
"Indeed the question isn't why are there so few Jews of any political persuasion in Congress, but why are there so many compared to their numbers among the population?"
My experience is that Jewish Persons are overrepresented (in a statistical sense) in just about every endeavor associated with success. Yes, you can make your sports jokes, but hey, when your group controls international banking, why worry about Lacrosse.
Chuck Schumer is it for Chuck Schumer. Period.
"Indeed the question isn't why are there so few Jews of any political persuasion in Congress, but why are there so many compared to their numbers among the population?" And why don't they speak with a Jewish person?
It's better off for a Jewish person to speak to a genuine liberal Jewish politician than to speak to a pretend-conservative Jewish politician.
Left handed people need representation in Congress too.
I have pimples on my butt, I want a federal program for concierge medical care and reparations for my pain and suffering.
I need and want a bigger Johnson. If Congress can authorize medical benefits for Trannies, then why can't I get my Johnson super-sized by Congress and the medical establishment. I got my rights too you know.
Is there a Jewish Caucus like the Black Caucus?
Jeebus H. Christ! You don't have to tie yourselves in knots to say "Jewish persons!" In this context , you can say "Jews."
How many representatives (including Senators) are in their 20's or 30's?
Back in 1776 there were lots of leaders that age, signing the Declaration for instance.
Now, and the debt is proof, the old 40 year old plus rapists have destroyed my future for some silver, and done it without my even having been represented in any tangible way.
We need all members of congress older than 40 out. We need billions of Federal tax dollars to support my whim, and we need to scare the living poop out of all children now and forever to enforce my pretentious plans.
Don't trust anyone over 40. Never.
The ridicule aside, I would support a congress with lots of dummies with under 100 IQ's in order to more accurately reflect the republic, but as has been apparent we are more in need of plus 100 IQ's if the concern is to more accurately represent America.
I have a family member who objects to the term, Jewish, when referring to persons. She insists that she is a Jew, not Jew-ish. A person is either a Jew or they are not. Jewish, to her, sounds like someone who thinks they are almost sort of a Jew.
OTOH, referring to the Jewish Community Center is OK.
If the Progressives are right, then the three highest ranking Jewish Politicians are on the SCOTUS. Not Cantor
A friend who told me that calling someone a Jew is offensive. He should know, he's half Jewish, or as I call him, half a Jew. Maybe the term should be "Person of Jew".
"Sometimes a white person just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a white person." Unattractive, isn't it?
"Sometimes a white person just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a white person." Unattractive, isn't it?
Let's try it out:
"Sometimes a Jehovah's Witness just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a Jehovah's Witness."
"Sometimes a Baha'i just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a Baha'i."
"Sometimes a Scotsman just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a Scotsman."
"Sometimes a cracker just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a cracker."
"Sometimes a German just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a German."
"Sometimes a Methodist just wants to be able to go to Congress and speak with a Methodist."
Hrm, it ranges from silly to perplexing. I'm going to judge it "stupid but probably harmless". One ought to look to reliability and ideology in one's representatives, not ethnic or religious brotherhood. Setting aside that Congressmen really ought to be representing their own damn constituents, not their hypothetical ethnic or religious or freemasonic identity-groups.
No true Scotsman would ever want to go to Congress and speak with a Scottish person.
