People name their dogs. Dogs do not name themselves, at least I don't believe they name themselves.
I wonder what psychological insights can be had from the names people choose for their dogs, and other pets. Has someone earned a doctorate doing research on that subject?
Iris and Zeus are names of classical gods -- classical names are well and good. But I've yet to meet a dog called Argus outside of Homer. Cooper is a really odd choice, IMAO. Cooper as in who?

Speaking of Dog Football, in the eastern end zone cheap seats in Cleveland the pit bull like fans are called Dogs.
