I'm reading "A time of gifts" by Patrick Leigh Fermor. It is depressing to see the decline of society even though that book is written about 1934 Europe. He was 18 and walked across Europe from Holland to Constantinople. Would he understand Michael Sam or The Oprah Network ? I'd be ashamed to ask him.

Fermor, by the way was quite the war hero, in the English fashion. The Smith graduates would never understand.

Beautiful photo. What camera was used?

Narcissus peered at his own reflection
and was very impressed with its power -
giving it such devoted affection
that he turned into a pretty flower.

Rusty - Can I send you my address?

Just looked at the AKA Doc Pomus documentary on Amazon. Forgot to go through Althouse before ordering it, so someone go there and make up for me. Good documentary. I thought I knew more about him than I did. Lots of good songs. Cool pictures of NYC in the 50's, 60's, 70's.

At the Narcissist's Café... I arrive fashionably late. My neuroses have already grabbed a table by the corner.

The Amalfi Coast heading south to Sicily is gorgeous. And Italians are crazy about their dogs. Especially in Venice. Meade would be in Dog heaven. As an added plus, Italians let their boys dogs keep the family jewels...It seems so wrong not to see a sack where there should be one. America I'm talking to you...

The camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS25 16.1 MP Compact Digital Camera with 20x Intelligent Zoom.

I bought that to replace basically the identical camera, which I liked a lot but dropped on the marble floor of the Wisconsin Capitol in the confusion of a security checkpoint during the protests.
