Mountains, glaciers, rivers, mountain flowers, and each other. There is a Heaven.

How will you ever keep Meade down in Madison now?

edutcher म्हणाले...

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

(well, somebody was going to...)

PS I hope we can look forward to many scenic vistas posted on the way home.

Very nice photo. It must have been taken high up on the mountains where it's cooler. Most of the wild flowers are gone by now. In fact the leaves are starting to drop without turning this year already in the lower hotter areas. The yellow grass in some of the earlier photos isn't typical. It's been a hot dry year.

Exceptionally hot and dry here. In addition to the leaves turning early, there is another disturbing signal that things are different: the geese are back on the wild rice fields below our property. They usually reappear in the fall in the middle of September or October. We have also seen large flocks of ducks and a very large grouping of cormorants, which is also out of the ordinary for this time of year.

What does nature know that we don't?

Is Althouse talking about Phelps tub shoot?

Michael म्हणाले...

DBQ: Cormorants! Long-necked flying rats! Maybe the early migrations are signaling a very cold winter and an early one.

Mark Pocan, the openly gay Democrat running for the congressional seat being vacated by Rep Tammy Baldwin boasted to friends about his travels to Costa Rica to participate in sex with young boys.

Nothing to see here. It's the gay seat in the Wisconsin congressional map.

Pocan is a hero to some people, you know.

A very long train stopped traffic, one of those Warren Buffett coal trains that goes and goes and goes and goes and never changes, isn't interesting in any way except for the way it goes and goes and goes and the guy in the front put his vehicle in park and fell asleep at the wheel.

The train passed and the car didn't move. Hot day. Windows down. A deaf guy in the car behind the car with the sleeping guy pulled out his little notebook and scribbled a brief note, got out of his car and walked up to the car in front of his and reached in, touched the guy sleeping who woke up, and handed the waking guy his note with the single word:

"but"

Penny म्हणाले...

Too clever for words, Chip!

Think that will be my big laugh of the day.

Synova म्हणाले...

I'm slow... but I eventually got it.

LOL.

I'm voting for the Republican (I have no idea who's runnign against Pocan, I just don't want him in) but come on. It's some guy on Tumblr claiming that Pocan bragged about going to Costa Rica to have sex with underage boys. What do you think the press should do?

"Some guy on the Internet is making claims about the sex life of Mark Pocan! Go find him and interview him!"

The same guy made claims about things Scott Walker supposedly did in college. Should the press have followed up on that too? And what does it say about their alleged bias that they didn't?

FedkaTheConvict म्हणाले...

@Micheal Haz.

The allegations may well be true but the author, Dr. Glen Barry, sounds like a nut.

Synova म्हणाले...

Interesting about Pocan, Haz. It sort of needs confirmation though.

What I also thought was interesting was several of the other posts on the page describing asshole behavior contrary to clearly posted rules which then justifies whining about persecution.

Is he always like that?

Synova म्हणाले...

The howls of outrage and claims of oppression, however, are his own words and not the least in dispute.

Is Madison really going to elect someone who's idea of political leadership and seriousness is working to get himself thrown out of events because he decided that the rules don't apply to him?

Or who thinks that rules against video, photography, or displaying signs in the assembly balcony are equivalent to concealed carry?

The guy is a nut.

Synova म्हणाले...

I can, I suppose, see how even people who are pro 2nd Amendment might object to concealed carry in government buildings (which makes me wonder what the rule really is), but where is the conceptual connection to political speech in that venue. You get to be in there to watch if you agree to be *silent*.

If that's not okay, then push to allow everyone to holler and protest wave signs.

So stupid.

Calypso Facto म्हणाले...

Should the press have followed up on that too?

Glen Barry's essay on Scott Walker's college days was considered credible enough to be carried by the Wisconsin State Journal, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, blogginblue, and DailyKOS, among other media outlets. Will they do the same now? Pretty scandalous accusations. I bet Dr. Barry receives some hateful messages tonight.

But if a second witness comes forward, Pocan's toast.

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

The allegations about Pocan should be investigated. Is he being given a pass because there's a D after his name instead of an R?

What if Pocan was an R? Wouldn't some reporter at least try to learn if the guy who wrote the article was a real person? And maybe get the names of the others who were there and contact them?

It looks like a story voters should be told, if true, before they vote. Or does "he's gay" override everything else?

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

It doesn't matter to me whether Pocan is gay or straight. What does matter is that the press should do its job whether the candidate is a D or an R.

chickelit म्हणाले...

The underage part is disturbing.

When is Pocan's election? If it's November, there's plenty of time to corroborate if true and disprove if false. If it's false, it may not even hurt him but help him. Glen Barry didn't ding Walker.

But the story needs more than accusation.

Clyde म्हणाले...

Interesting that the yellow flowers haven't imprisoned the red flower for its hooliganism. Perhaps it's just a matter of time, though.

Wow, that's some photorealistic paintbrushing, Rosy.

Color me IMPRESSED!

How about you show something to the likes of me, for example, Ann Athouse? It's overdue--assuming, of course, that you actually mean what you often post [about],
