At the Solar Flower Café...

... unfold all your rigid righteousness.

I can't tell you how weird and ugly blogger is now, Althouse. I thought the wv was annoying. But this is insane. Your website looks normal when I am reading it.

But when I try to comment, your website is suddenly crammed over towards the left. The right half of the screen is blank.

And everything is in tiny font.

When I "preview" there is no preview of what my post actually looks like. My post crams to the right, disappears, and the rest of the message appears down below.

There's no point in previewing anything. I really like posting on Althouse, but the technical aggravations are really piling up.

Whatever they were trying to improve, blogger made it 1000 times worse. If I have to do something with java, let me know what it is. Because this is ridiculous.

mesquito म्हणाले...

Blogger is still unusable on my blackberry.

And look. A monument to Smug.

edutcher म्हणाले...

Solar rigid righteousness?

Sounds like a bunch of Lefties.

PS Saint, as I noted about a week ago, this is a programming glitch (or several) that Blogger is fighting with. Why they let this into production, I can't imagine, but, yes, it will hasten a lot of people's departure from Blogger, no doubt.

Penny म्हणाले...

Have you ever noticed that the more you talk about what is annoying you, the more annoyed you get?

I mean, really! How annoying is THAT?

Hagar म्हणाले...

Althouse, please tell your flock to chill re: Breitbart as "we" don't want their hatred to consume them as well.

Alex म्हणाले...

shiloh - LOL you would love it if your enemies consumed themselves with anger and hatred. Just to show what a swell guy I really am, I'm having a party tonight to celebrate Breitbart. I'm sure there is gonna be a lot of drinking and merry making!

dhagood म्हणाले...

so the phone rang here in bucolic littleton, co. a woman's voice intoned "this is WE! the 99%".

that's all i heard before i said "get a job" and hung up the phone.

"Garage believes that the "hoax" is that the movie did not include the "trailer", that the pimp outfits really weren't used inside Acorn..."

As best as I can understand it, yes, that is the objection.

It's a hoax because he didn't wear the fedora and chinchilla coat while he was talking to the helpful ladies who continued to be helpful when he explicitly explained in great detail that he was setting up a prostitution business and even importing underaged girls from Central America(and I'm on record for feeling sorry for them... it's human nature to feel good about helping) which is slavery and human trafficking.

But he didn't wear the coat or shades, he wore a suit, and that makes it a hoax.

Dude. Brietbart is a whole 'nother thread and you're the only one who mentioned hate.
Why are the proggs so in love with the word ,'hate'?
Hate is a really childish way to describe anything.
Except maybe spiders

The new format an attempt to improve the portable experience.

I notice from the Ipod that the page loads quicker and the comment page looks better.. I don't have to adjust pan and zoom.

But when I tried to comment from my Ipod I could not enter the captcha verification.. I could see them.. they are on the page just like in the computer.. but my input would not execute.

So, it looks like they are still working on it.

But, as I said last night.. There is a terrific Blog improvement that will not be apparent until you try it..

When I search the blog now, instead of Google, I get many many more returns than I used to.
This is great for me because I like to link back to posts that complement whatever point I'm trying to make.

I dont have a finished education. So I buttress my comments not only because I mean to persuade, but because its a good self defense mechanism.

Rusty म्हणाले...

Oh.yeah that's a hideous attemp to make solar panels urbanly(?) acceptable. Like the microwave towers in LA and Orange County that are so inartfully, uncovincingly disguised as pine trees.

coketown म्हणाले...

To be fair, it is blocking that hideous eyesore behind it. God's creation can't hold a candle to the Left's Lego-motif. Très chic! If only the whole world were refashioned this way.

Penny म्हणाले...

Lem, anyone who has a "finished education" is quite like Breitbart...only breathing.

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

That solar plant is the best thing ever. But it is so much more than just a pun. I read about it in an Isaac Asimov book, think it was him.

The solar plant is one of thousands of similar plants oriented toward the sun as it apparently arcs across the sky. The individual plants are connected, it is actually one big organism, like Aspen, but that understates it because it is actually huge, several miles long and several miles wide. And the plants not only orient themselves toward the source of light but also toward a source of movement as well so that on a sunny day whenever an animal comes onto the edge then the nearby plants reorient toward the movement, together forming a huge reflector that kills the animal and burns it on the spot and eventually nurturing the soil. The gigantic patches of solar flowers are always thickest around the edges although they can take down low flying birds. The solar plants are carnivorous.

Rigidity (psychology), an obstacle to problem solving which arises from over-dependence on prior experiences.

I could say that about the other side.. Three Mile Island acting as some kind of Vietnam (nothing is worth going to war over) syndrome.

As they proved today, the only people consumed by hate are on the Left.

Depending on the browser, among other things, Javascript or, worse, the Microsoft riff, J-script, can slow down a machine hideously.

Donald Douglas' blog, as an example, is all but unwatchable in Chrome if Javascript is turned on.

PS Interesting point, Lem. Didn't think of a primarily mobile upgrade.

The rule of Lemnity म्हणाले...

Whatever one might think of Breitbart.. he too was passionate and had a fervor for relevance.

Penny म्हणाले...

You know, Lem? You are surely not the first person who's said they feel insecure about not having an education...WITH CREDENTIALS.

Personally, I've seen enough of the "credentialed" to know that doesn't matter much. Think you have too, if you get past the voice in your head that's been on "replay" for about twenty years or so.

The rule of Lemnity म्हणाले...

You know what would be really fun?

For Paladian to come in here and trash that "flower" the way I know he knows how.

And no, I will apologise for that..
------------
I was on the verge of posting this comment and then I remember seeing Chips avatar.. I figure he wasant trashing it but I had to read it anyway.

Well, he did better that trash it. He made me laugh.. on a sad day.

Crack - how are you celebrating tonight? Knowing Breitbart - he'd want us to drink heartily!

The rule of Lemnity म्हणाले...

If the "flower" was any good, technologically speaking, it would also act as a wind turbine.. and the reason why I beleliabe it might not is because the cost to produce it as is is already prohibitive.
That "flower" could not survive w/o some kind of subsidy.

I supposed thats the point of the massive pot.. which reminds me of that Brendan Sullivan response during the Iran Contra hearings "Well, sir, I'm not a potted plant".

When you're finished learnin shit they're throwing dirt on you.

If by finished you mean formal, highly overrated. Some of the most intolerant, bigoted people you'll ever meet have Phd behind their name.

Carnifex म्हणाले...

My wife is just coming to the realization that society as we know it is about to crash. So she asked me to look into setting up the house for emergency solar electricity. After showing her that the cost is not only prohibitive, but the size of the grid needed was enormous, and doubles if you add a small 1 room air conditioner she came to the sane conclusion that solar power is a farce as it is today.(and that didn't include the battery backups)

Love Niven's known space series...aliens that are alien, not only in look but thought as well. Tough to do, making logical thought processes that do not follow human norms. His sometime partner in crimes against literature Jerry Pournelle also has a blog I visit.(Ring World rocks... or spins and wobbles actually) Now that is a sci-fi movie I would pay to see.

12 tornadoes (not the gas station food) here the other day, and more expected today. One took out a trucking distribution center about a mile from the house. Nothing left but concrete floor.

Worked with some guys from Denmark for a summer. They all wanted to see a tornado. They had heard about them, but had never seen one. I told them to go see the movie "Twister" and consider it good.

Those guys were pranksters. They would climb up to the top of the tower we were building, and basically stay there till lunch. They would take drinks and snacks and such with them. As other construction guys would walk by underneath, they would take a glass of water, toss it over the side, and by the time it hit their victim they would be standing there fly open, and johnson in hand. Some guys just can't take a joke though.

Whomever is in charge of Blogspot needs to do away with the high contrast, and the column squeezing.

A strange sight indeed. I thought 'Teletubbies' when I first saw this...probably a by-product of raising little kids during that insipid period in the 90's.

Oh, and Penny, I think its time to change the plug. Don't you have anyone to bitch at where you live? Wouldn't be surprised if you didn't.

Hagar म्हणाले...

I have never seen this message before until these changes in Althouse's blog came along, and I still do not see it anywhere else. Just here.
Does not seem to harm anything, but it is annoying to have to click that off every time click on a thread to see the comments.
