I saw the movie Catfish and loved it.

It is on HBO on demand now.

Watch it doves.

Wondering what Ann would say about this video..

I found it very irritating, all that reference to God. You don't need to invoke God so many times to do the right thing or do the intelligent thing. God, this woman irritates me with her sob story.

Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Love the colors.

In light of all the breast beating over Steve Jobs, the death of a man who had much more to do with the digitization of all our lives was almost completely ignored.

Dennis Ritchie, who was instrumental in the development of not only Unix, on which Linux is built, but the C language, in which it was written, died yesterday. C++, C#, and Java, among other languages, stem from his work.

How dare she show up the Godless Leftists for the bullies and liars they are, invoking her faith and her God.

PS Love the flower.

Any saffron from those crocus? They are fall crocus?

Apple/Mac needs to take the pic of Steve Jobs off their website now.

I am sad and devastated over his death but we now need to move on.

deborah म्हणाले...

Don't know, Fred, but they remind me of crocus with those fine leaves, and the flower so close to the ground.

Does anyone know the percentage of married women who will perform oral on their husband?

I don't mean a little lick here or there. I mean devouring the hog until they take every drop?

My sense is very few and for that I am sad. Sad for the straighty husband.

At the Gawker site (linked to in the fake eyebrow post), there's this piece on Steve Jobs's cancer:

Steve Jobs had a mild form of cancer that is not usually fatal, but seems to have ushered along his own death by delaying conventional treatment in favor of alternative remedies, a Harvard Medical School researcher and faculty member says. Jobs's intractability, so often his greatest asset, may have been his undoing.

I didn't know he'd postponed conventional medical treatment; if true, his death is all the more tragic-- in the classic sense.

Paging Crack Emcee. Add Steve fucking Jobs to the list of casualties of New Age bullshit.

Terribly sad.

Sad. I guess he was not a billionaire. No money and no fame in this world. Another prostate cancer death.

Saw it.. (Catfish)

Other than the scene with the... retarded kids.. (dont recall todays PC term)

I thought it was good.

Jobs delayed the surgery by about a year and tried alternative medicine to shrink (and get rid of) the tumor.

My husband took Ritchie's death hard. The man truly was one of his heroes.

Deborah, glad you brought up Project Runway. I've been meaning to ask people here, if they've been watching, whether so far it's been a good season, in general, relatively speaking...?

I haven't watched this season (though watched all the others & enjoyed them, though bummed about Mondo not winning), and was wondering whether it's worth catching up on. No spoilers please (or, spoiler warning appreciated).

Titus, wholeheartedly agree on the important contribution frequent oral sex (both varieties) makes to happy relationships.

I miss Olbrich. :( Soooo lovely, in all seasons.

Yashu, for a while there I thought some of the seasons got bad with too much ginned-up drama and poor judging. Like last year when they kept Michael C on past his sell-by date. But last season they'd started to tone down on the drama, so that was good.

This season has been pretty good for me. If you can believe it, they extended it to an hour and a half. Which means you can skip the first half hour and still see the runway and judging. Also, I think the judging has been reasonable. Have fun catching up.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

So is Marco in league with Mitt?

yashu म्हणाले...

Thanks for the review, deborah. Glad to hear there's not too much forced drama (so far). It'll be fun to gobble up eps with some marathon watching.

Wow, wowlovetera. I love when comment spam sounds like Lucky's monologue from Waiting for Godot. Not being sarcastic-- there's some absurdist poetry there, love it.

However, we can have more rum when we all turn in concert.

Yay, I'm in!

For those of us raised on C, or any of its descendants, which power a great deal of the world's software, we realize what an incredible legacy Dennis Ritchie leaves.

Add to that the fact that OSes such as Mac OS X and XBox have Linux kernels means this man's work touches just about every American's life.

Often called fall crocus, but they are actually colchicum, a different species. Rather more expensive than fall crocus but they multiply quite nicely.

MILD SPOILER WARNING!!

I've been watching Project Runway. Because I've sewn all my life and sometimes make my own patterns I find the designing process very interesting. (I'm certainly not a 'designer')

I've been pretty disappointed with this season.

First of all the challenges are so contrived and stupid. ....design from things found in a pet store using only muslin as a fabric base!!. Design for stilt walking clowns

THEN the producers, not content with this torture, keep throwing in twists and additional challenges mid stream that make no sense whatsoever.

THEN instead of booting off obviously inferior designers, they keep them merely for the drama and for their toxic personalities. Generally, you find a person or two that you may like as a person. This season they are all so immersed in the contrived "drama" that I hate them all.....except Bert.

Project Runway has become like Survivor.

**Minor Spoilers***

I know what you mean, it's just that it's not as bad with the animosity or stress as it was in the earlier seasons. It just used to seem a little meaner, with editing that tried to play it up even more...

As far as the silly challenges, I think it's okay to a degree. It occured to me for the first time this week that anyone who came on the show would be wise to have some designs already thought up and Moods already scoped out. So adding the pet store twist is a way to make them think on the spot. For example the skirt from pee pads was pretty lame, but some of them were cool. And remember those gorgeous designs made from paper a few seasons ago.

Cool that you make your own patterns!
