As I wrote in an update at the first link, above, I've been able to figure out that one of the "conservative bloggers" was Christian Schneider. Someone in the comments states flatly: "You were not one of the bloggers." Meade responds:
Who were the bloggers? Kloppenburg used the plural, so she clearly meant more than one. Or was she not accurate with her facts?Indeed. I'm not being vain and narcissistic about the campaign's failure to respond to my email. I'm commenting on the meaning of the absence of a response. In my post, I note that Kloppenburg listed 4 reasons being suspicious of what happened with the reporting of the votes in Waukesha, but "2 of the items are the absence of anything." I added:
Also, why would her campaign not reply to Althouse?
Now that the question of Althouse being the "conservative blogger" is becoming an internet meme, it appears that the Kloppenburg campaign is incompetent and unprepared for the questions and scrutiny that lie ahead.
That "15 second" pregnant pause may be only the beginning of awkward moments for JoAnne Kloppenburg.
An absence of evidence might be probative of something that matters, but you have to build a foundation for why it matters. Now, I'm talking about an absence: the failure to provide the names of the bloggers and the links to the blog posts that show the "prior knowledge" of the missing votes. And I have built the foundation for why this absence is probative of something that matters. The internet meme is hurting Kloppenburg's credibility and undermining the assertion that an independent investigation is needed.
My working theory at this point is that there was only one blogger, Christian Schneider, and the Kloppenburg campaign is afraid to admit that the plural "bloggers" was false.
Or they really were talking about me.

You owe me a new keyboard.
There weren't any bloggers. She made it up.
You are not paranoid.
They're just not out to get you.
Kleptoberg tried to steal the election, got caught by Althouse and now refuses to respond to Althouse and demands that Althouse be investigated as a key conspirator.
See, that's how you intimidate your political opponents.
Clearly, Kleptoberg has read her Alinsky.
But again, regardless of whether they were talking about you or anyone else, the only information ANY bloggers had came from absolute COMMON SENSE and EVIDENCE: that the Waukesha county vote totals did NOT increase when the overall percentage of precincts reporting DID. That should be an obvious error to anyone with half a brain. For Kloppenburg to insinuate that this is evidence of fraud on the part of some "bloggers" is just absolutely ridiculous and a desperate attempt to grasp at straws that do not, in fact, even remotely exist.
Maybe she hasn't responded because she's doing another creep pause for effect.
Seriously...that was one of the weirdest things I've seen in a long, long time.
She's not very precise for a Supreme Court nominee.
The Dems really couldn't find a better candidate than this dingbat?
I just hope she doesn't peel off her human skin after she loses the recount. I hate Visitors.
I think the fact that she mention "prior notice" rather than prior knowledge means that she was not, as a matter of actual fact, referring to Althouse. But who knows how confused she may be over the facts?
She has put a notion out without proof or specificity. She will never be actually required to specify, because it has nothing to do with the recount.
Kloppo spent the entire campaign except the debate talking to small friendly audiences. She's a bubble machine. She has not had to operate outside of a uncritical, confirming bubble.
Expect her handlers to keep her on the back porch for the rest of the recount. Every time she wanders out into the yard, she steps in a poop pile.
Bad doggy!
So this is why you have been sticking up for the One recently. You agreed that the Texas reporter should politely listen to whatever drivel He wants to give as an answer, off topic or not. (Where is the tape of the interviewer cutting the President off? There is none.) You criticized El-Ruschbo for dwelling on the Ones peculiar comment on the Resurrection. You're trying to get your street cred back as a "fair and balanced" blogger, not wanting a "conservative blogger" tag slapped on you. This is American Ann, and you can be whatever you want to be. Don't let others pigeon hole you as a "Conservative Blogger". But "Please buy books on Amazon through my portal." Whatever.
Kloppendale has certainly proven she's not qualified to be a state supreme court judge.
I am certain that the media will contact the Klopp campaign and demand answers.
Oh, wait, actually they won't.
Kloppo's a Visitor? And Obama is a Vulcan, so this is starting to fit together.
Claiming prior knowledge is accusing the blogger as being a conspirator before the fact. This implies it was not an accident, but planned manipulation of the totals. I doubt it was planned, but it worked well. The Democrats found enough votes for her to declare herself victor, she thought the election was stolen, fair and square. How dare the Republicans pull out a victory that was in the bag, a lead pipe cinch?
Don't interrupt me when I'm interrupting you. Or, don't steal stuff from me that I just stole from you. The Nerve.
Did she actually go to law school?
"The Dems really couldn't find a better candidate than this dingbat?"
Their bench for the bench is not deep.
Well she didn't go to beauty school.
I say we lay off the poor Kloppy. She was used as the union stalking horse to make propaganda. With the union's help she got enough of the votes to ask for a free recount, and now she could get her legs broken if she tries to quit on her union bosses. Unions have to keep their reputation as thugs or the whole scam falls apart.
"Did she actually go to law school?"
Sobering how little it helps, isn't it?
I love the end of this post.
I can see why Althouse thinks that it's wise for the R presidential candidates to avoid making certain commitments.
The thing Althouse does know for sure is that Kloppenburg has done something wrong. She didn't email Althouse, so (from the Meadehouse POV) that means she's hiding something.
Is Meadehouse as important as it thinks it is in WI politics? To me, as a distant observer, Meadehouse doesn't seem like it's a serious player in local or statewide politics. If the House of Meade was important, wouldn't the comments look different, e.g. the Kloppenburg campaign would bother to plant some folks in the threads. I only see regulars. All the evidence indicates that the Kloppenburg folks have always been ignoring the never ending Althouse attacks, so what's new?
That was cruel. She may have gone to beauty school. She might do a spectacular job, on someone else's face and hair. Don't be so mean.
"I say we lay off the poor Kloppy."
I'd be with you if she had conceded, but she's keeping this going herself.
I'd go easy on Kloppenburg. She doesn't have the maturity of 14 year old Tricia Willoughby.
At the least, it's pretty certain that her people are reading over here.
In March, we talked here about how Kloppenburg lists her occupation as "Politician" on her Facebook page. (I thought this was a mistake because the elections are supposed to be nonpartisan.) Prosser, by contrast, had "Government Official" as his occupation.
Check out "her Facebook page" now.
A photo on the Facebook page that showed a Kloppenburg supporter carrying a sign with Prosser's head on a stake also no longer is available.
She clearly likes the celebrity more than her reputation. It's hard to keep both. Some people need to choose one.
It's interesting to ponder why you are perceived as a conservative blogger. It's not just liberals who perceive that. I'm a free-market conservative (as opposed to a social conservative), and even I tend to think of you that way, even though I know you voted for Obama, something I would never have considered doing. I have not sorted out all the reasons in my own mind, but part of it is your unwillingness to toe the DNC-talking-points line.
Althouse wrote: And I have built the foundation for why this absence is probative of something that matters.
"Absence is the highest form of presence" - James Joyce
That's fitting for today, tomorrow, and the next day.
"All the evidence indicates that the Kloppenburg folks have always been ignoring the never ending Althouse attacks, so what's new?"
Oh, they aren't ignoring them. They just aren't learning all they could. This is a mistake for her. It's like her people don't really care about her.
"The internet meme is hurting Kloppenburg's credibility ..."
She has had zero credibility since the moment she announced "I won" before the votes were done being counted.
Kloppendale has certainly proven she's not qualified to be a state supreme court judge.
You need to revisit the qualifications for sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
I think she went to Yale or Princeton undergrad - did three years in the Peace Corps [no surprise there] and UW Madison for law school. So she likely has been fully indoctrinated in the belief that govt programs are funded by a bountiful money tree.
Mad Man:
I am thinking they meant there is there is a big difference between eligiblility and qualifications.
The mistake of forgetting one town's votes when giving results to the AP is neither a state secret nor in any way useful for the canvasing board to do it's job. So why would it be a problem if one or more bloggers knew about the issue before the canvasing board?
"It's interesting to ponder why you are perceived as a conservative blogger."
1) She is clearly not a "liberal blogger".
2) She writes honestly, mostly using her head, not her emotions.
Although, I think it far from perfect, her goal of cruel neutrality makes it impossible to be a "liberal blogger". There are only two kinds which leaves her a "conservative blogger". That's how it works.
traditionalguy said...
"I say we lay off the poor Kloppy."
Me, too.
I called her a "stooge" yesterday, but meant that in the best, time-honored tradition of a straightman or someone under the control of others. She's just sputtering the agreed-upon talking points. I doubt anything will be gained by trying to parse out the meaning of what she says.
I am in Western Wisconsin right now visiting relatives. I looked at the Mondovi Herald-News. Kathleen "fleebagger" Vinehout has a bizzare column talking about all her neighbors in Alma who are suffering because they don't get enough free stuff from the gov't.
But the grand prize goes to the Mondovi Herald-News editor who put this headline on a letter to the editor:
"Did the tea baggers sandbag the election?"
I am going to give the paper the benefit and assume they are don't known that they used an anti-gay slur, discribing sexual act, in their headline.
Or do they have an intern with a vulgar sense of humor?
So now we've reached the final stage, Kloppenpity.
"Obama is a Vulcan"
Obama can't be a Vulcan. He's married to a Klingon.
Hey Althouse--why dont you just call the bint and ask her?
Thats easy--professional courtesy among lawyers and all that
Is that so hard? You're cultivating your victim image here and it isnt pretty.
Obama can't be a Vulcan. He's married to a Klingon.
I always thought the First Lady was a Ferengi. Besides, if anything, he's a Borg.
Ann Althouse is in no way, shape, or form, a "conservative blogger."
She is a lifelong liberal Democrat who voted for Barack Obama. Kind of rules out "conservative."
She's as liberal as they come; is a government official, is a lawyer, supports the Gheys ... I mean, short of actually providing us with an original copy of her long-form Communist Party membership card, how many more touchstones do you really need to consider?
The rwo sure ways to force a reply are a law suit or bar complaint. Token damage would make a law suit not worthwhile. If AA is not a member of WI bar is bar complaint possible.
Didn't Meade say he voted for Soglin? An anti-Christian bigot whose hero is Fidel Castro?
I would say this blog is not run by conservatives. Maybe just commnon sense traditional liberals.
'Obama is not even half Vulcan. He is allergic to logic."
He's logical if you accept his premises. The premises are what are screwed up.
I base the Vulvan conclusion on the ears. It's a classic Vulcan botched ear job look.
"I think the fact that she mention "prior notice" rather than prior knowledge means that she was not, as a matter of actual fact, referring to Althouse. But who knows how confused she may be over the facts?"
She said "prior knowledge." It's in the written statement at her website too. So since that's important to you, what do you say now?
This is what I find unbelievable:
"including a one-and-a-half day delay in notifying any responsible party about a county vote total that she knew was incorrect;"
Since when did the AP, or any other media organization, become a "responsible party" that requires being informed so that they declare the winner?
It's absurd. The woman is saying she needs a recount because the AP wasn't properly informed? That a recount is needed because bloggers had prior knowledge that a media outlet wasn't adding up correctly? Seriously??
AA, not to use a stereotype the Democrats use against Republicans ("his handlers told him to say...."), but do you think someone is calling the shots here? Ms Klopper doesn't seem to be real engaged in the whole process. Like she goes in front of the cameras, but isn't quite sure why. Just peer pressure?
Maybe she was referring to this fellow Christian Schneider AND to Althouse, which makes it plural.
The Professor is using her Gabe Carimi technique on the defeated Kloppy. That may arise from the Wisconsin tradition to run up 80+ points on opponents. I say don't squish her, just be sure to flush her again.
The reason you will not see a response is that like with all conspiracy theories, there must remain a cloud of mystery in which believers can see what they need to see in order to rationalize their behavior. Mr. Crack Emcee can elaborate, I'm sure.
And if you get a response, it will obfuscate.
the "bloggers had prior knowledge" is the meme of the leftwing/unions Kabuki theater in calling the results into question so they can claim that the elections wasn't legitimate. They are sore losers and can't stand the idea of actual democracy getting in the way of their attempts at mob rule.
The Althouse Woman is neither a Conservative, nor a Liberal. She is an Emotionalist. Her voting patterns indicate such.

Don't hold your breath, Professor. She probably holds you responsible, in part, for losing in the end.
So since that's important to you, what do you say now?
Since this topic is "important" to you, I'd say you have a self-absorbed obsession w/irrelevant minutia.
In my visits here over the years we've had numerous debates over whether or not the Tea Party has racist elements in it, which they tolerate. And many TPers have attacked the NAACP for saying as much.
Well, here is a stunning defense of the Tea Party against racism by a very racist man. It's really "special."
That the Tea Partiers won't criticize the racists in their midst tells us a lot about them.
BTW, thanks for finding some way to make the Wisconsin Supreme Court race about you, Ann. Everything is!@
She's a Pelosi clone.
Liberals are not Progressives. Liberals can do math and understand that the debt and deficit are a huge problem.
Progressives are not concerned with either, just with wealth redistribution.
Liberals understand that if the debt is not reduced and the shit hits the fan, the poor in America will be skinny like they are in the rest of the world.

B) Have lives. A little busy.
C) Not the most important thing to do.

They are busy running a political campaign. By not clearing up their serious accusations, they are not running it well. It's important enough for Klopp to mention in her justification for spending a million bucks that isn't hers, so it's important enough for her to tell us exactly who these bloggers are. It's not like some rumor or robocall. If she wasn't lying, then she can easily specify exactly what she's talking about.
No, saying this isn't important or a campaign is too busy is a load of crap.
And come on, Althouse mentioned this reporting issue to some extent, and a lot of Madison types think she is an arch conservative. It's natural for her to ask, directly, what's going on. It's very odd that they won't answer, though I agree that their reason is that they think it's funny to see people speculate.
Why, that kind of agitation and delegitimization of the process, with rampant confusion and speculation, was the entire reason Klopp lied about this in the first place. Yes, they want us wondering about this for as long as possible, so clearing up their claims is counter to their anti-Wisconsin goals.
Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent conservative life at Rep blogs!
Live long and prosper ...
"And many TPers have attacked the NAACP for saying as much. "
You mean the felonious vote stealing NAACP? They just won themselves a prison sentence for at least one of their henchmen.
A couple dozen more vote or election fraud convictions, and they will be up to ACORN level.
Like we care what they claim about racism.
It's interesting to ponder why you are perceived as a conservative blogger. It's not just liberals who perceive that. I'm a free-market conservative (as opposed to a social conservative), and even I tend to think of you that way,
I also am a conservative on fiscal issues and not a social conservative. Probably more of a libertarian than anything. Having been a commenter on Althouse for some time, I view the hostess as a moderate or independant more than conservative OR liberal.
Pigeonholing people into categories is a misleading thing to do because most people are not JUST one thing on the political spectrum. You miss a lot of nuance and critical thinking when people do that. It isn't black or white. There are many shades of grey inbetween.
Everything the left doesn't like has "racist elements". The fact of the matter is that being held accountable stinks, especially when you are incompetent. Those that have never assumed accountability (like our sitting President and his administration) are quick to blame external workings of others. It's weak and consistent with those who push entitlement as the only form of policy.
He's a Changeling.
The NAACP is just as racist, if not more, than anybody in the tea party. Its just that progressives approve of ttheir racism because they benefit from it.

Agreed. In presidential races, I have always voted the person, not the party.
The NAACP is openly and proudly rascist....what's wrong with that. Their eternal get out of jail card still works when played. That won Obama's election, and is being refurbished for 2012. So Alpha needs some target practice here.
I like cheese.
Especially government cheese.
I believe that they are referring to internet snark that I remember laughing at about republicans needing to not let it be too close or the DEMOCRATS would come up with a bunch of missing votes. Pretty sure it was Instapundit who said it and more than once, I believe.
If so, then those Kloppenburg dummies took that to mean that CONSERVATIVE BLOGGERS had prior knowledge of the missing votes. Wow. Wisconsin may have just dodged a nasty bullet with these likely incompetent boobs.
Wisconsin may have just dodged a nasty bullet with these likely incompetent boobs.
The irony of Rep ineptitude!
Ann, you bitched about Kloppenburg when she was running. Then, you wanted her not to do a recount (which I agree with you on). WTF do you think the Kloppenburg Campaign has any duty or obligation to respond to your e-mail? So you figured out there might have been a voting discrepancy in Waukesha the night of the election. Why does that mean anyone in the Kloppenburg campaign bothers to read your blog, or assumes that you had inside information before the clerk disclosed the discrepancy. (I also think the whole Waukesha thing is a complete joke; obviously it was just a failure to save the most recent spreadsheet; as Joe Kennedy said, why buy 500 votes, when you only need 100; there is no way someone can make up 14,000 extra votes.)
If the vote seemed unfair, then tighten up the voting.

How about the guy yelling obscenities at the 14 year old, Alpha? I missed your denunciation of him. Should I take that as your support of his style? If not, why should Althouse, or anyone be required to denounce everyone who acts like an idiot? Snd are you really comfortable coloring the entire movement with the views of one person? Do you really want to do that? Because it comes right back at you. Think about it Alpha, if you want to score political points, use reason and argument. Klopster declared victory publicly when she had around a 200 vote advantage. Now, with a 7300 vote deficit, she needs to see justice done. The cognitive dissonance inside this woman's head and those of her immediate handlers is stunning.
@chickelit: Is that a Monty Python reference? I've never seen Monty Python but it sounds like a reference.
The forum Schneider posted his seemingly prescient piece on is not a blog. National Review is a magazine and part of the traditional news media.

Scott,
It's not cognitive dissonance to request a recount now. And frankly, I'd be surprised if Klop or even her handlers are those most interested in a recount. Election refutation is a continuing tool of the DNC since Florida. Calling elections into question and false claims of disenfranchisement are wonderful fund-raising tools and base-motivators. Just look at all the traction and print-space/airtime the various recounts have given them. Its a win-win at the end of the day regardless of who actual gets to sit in the chair.
Now, chikelit, I'm doing this without googling, but I always thought it was "Alice" when "she's" 10ft tall, in reference to the potion that would shrink/grow her in Wonderland.
@Chickelit: You didn't sound rude. I was just curious. And isn't "Go ask ______ when he's ten feet tall" Jefferson Airplane? Too much psychedelic rock! It's got to end. Just like the Madison judicial election fiasco. It's got to end.

No, it's not. Not on it's own, but she declared a victory with less than 250 in her favor. Doing so implies it was unnecessary for her opponent to call for a recount. She finds herself 29x in the opposite direction, though, and decides it's wrong for her opponent to declare victory.
No, the Klopster is one of the "crab people".

Ann does pay taxes to Wisconsin, but Wisconsin pays Ann's salary to run this blog 24/7, since the majority of tenured law professors at our esteemed law school work about 10 hours per week to be paid in excess of $100k per year. So ironically, this is a de facto government sponsored blog. Don't know the amount of the recount, and, as I said, I think it is completely stupid. However, under Wisconsin law, there is no reason needed for the recount. If Ann wasn't the blogger or bloggers Kloppenburg's Campaign was referring to, then I see no reason why the Campaign needs to respond to Ann, who was against Kloppenburg during the election, and used her de facto state sponsored blog to condemn Kloppenburg.
Ann, who was against Kloppenburg during the election, and used her de facto state sponsored blog to condemn Kloppenburg.
1. Ann never gave a position on who she was for.
2. She never condemned Kloppy. Cite.
Presumably the so-called advance notice to a blogger or bloggers (if true) of the election tally would confirm that the reporting delay was deliberate.
And yet it didn't change the honest result, not a bit ... but it would have thrown a helluva monkey-wrench into an attempted dishonest one.
Is that what makes it worth so much money to prevent its recurrence?

The construction "...bloggers" may refer only to a single one. Is the construction technically incorrect for a single instance? e.g. If one sees someone in a lobby and is asked, 'were there people there,' should he answer no?
Is the singular construction required in the instance of "...conservative bloggers?" For example, if you look into a room and there is one person there, and you are asked if there are people in the room, what should you answer?
ANN ANLTHOUSE SEEN LUNCHING WITH THE KOCH BROTHERS AND A LARGE SACK OF MONEY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TABLE!
Disprove it if you can!
The blog Polish Immigrant located is hosted by someone named Cindy, but the key comments were made by someone named Ryan. That makes two bloggers.
1. Who cares how much Ann gets paid?
2. She's not paid for this blog- she'd get paid the same if she didn't write it.
3. Liberal profs sometimes have blogs, too. Is that government sponsored? It seems to me that government employees of any stripe have as much a right to blog as anyone else.
4. Is this a conservative blog? Yes. The readers of this blog certainly are. The liberal commenters criticize Althouse more than they agree with her. Whether Althouse can be categorized as "conservative" is up to her. I think much more so now than when the blog started.

Two "contributors"
What's the big deal a few conservative bloggers knew about the startling announcement that 14,000 votes were found before official canvass board members like Ramona Kitzinger?????
I am rather curious why folks like Shiloh attend to this blog--knowing its "conservative" are they on some sort of quixotic quest to change minds with their charming and insightful commentary?
do they enjoy pig wrestling?
or are they just simply insane.
On April 7th I sent this to allah@hotair.com:

Latest: Prosser -83 statewide

TWITTER: Numerous sources tell me Prosser will pick up 7000 votes in Waukesha Cty. 14,000 votes were apparently not entered into computer system.
I am leaving Dane County to go to Waukesha County ASAP!!!!
Apologies if this has been mentioned already. No idea who Andy Melchert is. But this is where I saw it, I sent it to hotair.com, and about 20 minutes later hotair posted it.
Whoever the several entities twittering Melchert were, no idea. I'm sure there was a leak and it spread like wildfire. Kloppenburg's people likely knew ahead of time as well, although they probably were not as prepared to disseminate unpleasant information about themselves as those of us on the right were.
200 votes out of 1.5 million. Did they not think the other side was paying close attention to what was happening?
Thinking about this, I think a recount is a good idea.
Suddenly finding thousands of votes casts doubts on the system. I know it was probably a simple mistake, but the perception is still there. And any system that screws up this bad should be looked at carefully.
Sure, it's expensive. The system should work the first time. Running a recount and embarrassing all the people who screwed up (the clerk who screwed up should be fired) reduces the likelihood of this happening again.
What's the big deal a few conservative bloggers knew about the startling announcement that 14,000 votes were found before official canvass board members like Ramona Kitzinger?????
Well, garage, why don't you explain exactly what the big deal is?
Someone leaked the news. Clearly. But so what? News is leaked all the time before official news conferences. Doesn't make the news that is announced any more or less legitimate than it would be if it had been kept perfectly confidential.
So what is the big deal, garage?
She finds herself 29x in the opposite direction, though, and decides it's wrong for her opponent to declare victory.
Here's what I don't get: she justified the recount by pointing at Waukesha County and Nickolaus. Does she think the Brookfield vote should be excluded? I've seen some analysis from the left suggesting the post-canvas Brookfield numbers were off, compared to recent elections. But I thought that theory had been debunked. I would have expected Kloppenburg to bring it up in her speech the other day if it hadn't.
Still, the "conservative bloggers" comment does suggest that she believes the Brookfield correction was wrong.
If anyone gets a chance to ask her about this, I'd appreciate it ;)
John Lynch--you are more optimist than I about "fixing" the voting system--but I agree that Ms Klopy has the right to ask for a recount. Stupid, yes, but she has the right to to exercise her stupidity.
"14,000 votes were found"
I am coming out of long-time lurk mode to point out that this is the most egregious lie in this entire situation.
The votes WERE NOT FOUND. They were always there.
They were simply not reported to AP.
I know lying is a matter of course for our troll. But really, it is tiresome that the lie is endlessly repeated.
And I know our troll has no moral center or he would stop. Really, is there a point where he will become an adult? Ever?
Does Kloppenburg owe Althouse a response? Won't touch that issue, but the fact that Althouse has to try to chase down the rumor demonstrates how inadequate the MSM is. Reporters ought to be hounding Kloppenburg for names, but they are content to let her spew her conspiracy nonsense without holding her accountable. Unless she can offer concrete examples and point to specific instances, the press should ignore her.
Update.
Randall Melchert, not Andy Melchert.
Beware quick cut-and-paste maneuvers.
from randallmelchert.com:

What's the big deal a few conservative bloggers knew about the startling announcement that 14,000 votes were found before official canvass board members like Ramona Kitzinger?????
So...let me get this straight, Garage (you owe me cuz I defended your honor today). The clerk in question fails to show fealty to AP and thus everything falls apart? At any time were any official channels/processes abused/incorrect?
My understanding is that since the AP didn't know about those votes, something was amiss?
What's that Juris Doctorate thing?
Sounds..........conservative.
There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me!......
Given the clear support of Walker that Meandehouse has shown along with the avoidance of mentioning the role that vibrators have played in the (R) Ensign affair, I would say this is a conservative blog, not that there is anything wrong with that.
"The construction "...bloggers" may refer only to a single one."
Uh, no.
I guess, given that Klopp can barely string a sentence together at all, perhaps she just had no idea what she was talking about and was unable to be clear.
But then, why is she demanding $1,000,000 on this bloggers justification among 4? She needs to explain what she's talking about.
Lance, I agree. The only way the bloggers claim works is if she's claiming the brookfield data was somehow incorrect. What's very, very odd is that it's obvious that they entire town wasn't entered in when Klopp was barely ahead, and it's also obvious that they would support Prosser as strongly as California will support Obama. So there is no logical claim here. We know Prosser won. Of course, maybe if you ask Kloppenburg she'll admit as much in a couple of hours, after hyperventilating and sighing in confusion at the question.
"Ann does pay taxes to Wisconsin, but Wisconsin pays Ann's salary to run this blog 24/7, since the majority of tenured law professors at our esteemed law school work about 10 hours per week to be paid in excess of $100k per year. "
bla bla bla, conservatives shouldn't have blogs if they work for the government. Oh no.
Liberal fascism once more.
Anyway, you admit Althouse is a taxpayer, so it's offensive that you claim she's merely bitching to ask for clarification on this apparently dishonest justification Klopper made for taxpayer expense over one million dollars.
Ya know, professors like to talk about things. They profess.
RV--vibrators? I totally missed that reference--could you explicate?
deborah started the whole 70's music meme with her Doors reference at 12:44.
"Changeling" was a Star Trek reference ie Vulcan ~ Romulan ~ Changeling.
My understanding is that since the AP didn't know about those votes, something was amiss?
Nickolaus didn't tell at least one of the offical members of the canvass board about the missing votes. Ramona didn't know until the press conference started. Nickolaus didn't tell anyone until 2 days later. Why, I wonder?
Ex-Leper: Okay, sir, my final offer: half a shekel for an old ex-leper?
Brian: Did you say "ex-leper"?
Ex-Leper: That's right, sir, 16 years behind a veil and proud of it, sir.
Brian: Well, what happened?
Ex-Leper: Oh, cured, sir.
Brian: Cured?
Ex-Leper: Yes sir, bloody miracle, sir. Bless you!
Brian: Who cured you?
Ex-Leper: Jesus did, sir. I was hopping along, minding my own business, all of a sudden, up he comes, cures me! One minute I'm a leper with a trade, next minute my livelihood's gone. Not so much as a by-your-leave! "You're cured, mate." Bloody do-gooder.

Nickolaus didn't tell at least one of the offical members of the canvass board about the missing votes. Ramona didn't know until the press conference started. Nickolaus didn't tell anyone until 2 days later. Why, I wonder?
So because Kathy didn't talk to Ramona before the press conference, Brookfield's votes are somehow invalid?
That doesn't a lot of sense.
Didn't some commission already go to Waukesha and determine that the votes in question were legitimate?
Nickolaus didn't tell at least one of the offical members of the canvass board about the missing votes.
Is Nickolaus required to report that information by statute?
Bloody do-gooder.
Best line, damned-near, in that entire movie. After Cleese, Palin is my favorite Python.
I would say this is a conservative blog, not that there is anything wrong with that.
To do that you have to ignore a myriad of other things not so conservative, but more libertarian or just plain ole intelligent points of view. Plus, you have to keep in mind that contraryism is valued quality in attorneys. Much of Ann's stuff is simply contraryism.
In the interest of equivalence, I think ScottM makes the appropriate point--The Klopster is within her rights to ask for a recount; similarly Ms Nicklous has no legal obligation to report tallys to the AP--only the canvassing board within the time limits established by WI law.
Garage: Let's assume the worst of what could have happened - that Nickolaus knew about the Brookfield votes, and purposely delayed reporting them in order to "smoke out" all of what she thought could be fraudulent Dem votes in strong Dem counties. Once the Dems committed to their respective numbers, she "found" the votes, and got around to reporting them to the AP. Not saying it happened, but also not saying it's out of the question.
But, if that is the way it went down, what is Klopp's remedy? Would you propose that the Brookfield votes not count? Do you think the Brookfield votes are fraudulent? If so, would you blame the Brookfield election officials, because they are the ones who provided the totals?
You throw out some innuendo ("I wonder why"), but let's stop pussyfooting around. What do you think happened, and what is your basis for it?
Well, one blogger would still be all it takes to prove 'prior knowledge' of an event.
However, many of them over at NRO could just as easily be called 'reporters' or 'journalists', even if they blog on 'The Corner'.
And, someone breaking news on their blog about what was discovered at nearly the same time a press conference to announce something (that was shown to be the discovery of the misreported votes) is not what I would call 'prior knowledge'. I would call it that info leaked prior to a press conference. Hardly shocking.
Question: if a Wisconsin restaurant came up with a "KloppenBurger", what would be in it?
"why, I wonder."
She was busy!
Here is a link to the complaint filed by Melissa Muliken against Kathy Nickolaus and one can read points 18 and 19 to learn more details of which conservative blog was mentioned: http://bradblog.com/Docs/Kloppenburg_NickolausComplaint_042011.pdf
Lombardi chick: I don't think it would be overly lean or tender.
I do think, however, it would be (WV:) antless
Lombardi chick: at least 13 seconds of silence
Question: if a Wisconsin restaurant came up with a "KloppenBurger", what would be in it?
The patty would be horse meat.
KloppenBurger
Cheese. Great Wisconsin Cheese. Best Cheese in the World!
Brian: Well, why don't you go and tell him you want to be a leper again?
Ex-Leper: Uh, I could do that sir, yeah. Yeah, I could do that I suppose. What I was thinking was I was going to ask him if he could make me a bit lame in one leg during the middle of the week. You know, something beggable, but not leprosy, which is a pain in the ass to be blunt and excuse my French, sir.

Of course anyone can have a blog. However, most of the commentators here continually bitch about government which is fine. However, it is goverment dollars that essentially subsidize this blog. No one who works full time could devote the time necessary to keep this blog constantly updated. So my comment was in response to the complaint that Althouse is "taxpayer." Her taxes are paid by the state, because she is paid by the state. More power to her for making a decent living, and having to devote a minimal amount of time preparing for the same classes she teaches every year, attending class, and then grading one or two exams each semester. However, that behavior to me seems inconsistent with the conservative values the majority of the commentors on this blog seem to espouse.
Now you know you're hurting them, Ann.
AlphaLiberal popped up like a dildo at Walgreens to hijack the thread with "Tea Partiers are racists" allegations.
Ahh--Madison Man admits the Klop burger will be cheesy :)
Here's your real racist political party, Alpha:
A Black NAACP official has been sentenced to five years in prison for committing vote fraud that benefited ONLY Democrats.
http://pajamasmedia.com/tatler/2011/04/22/naacp-official-convicted-of-voter-fraud/
Saul--I would suggest that the professor has the approval of her department chair and dean to engage in blogging--blogging is IMO consistent with research objectives of higher education intitutions. I dont have a problem with her blogging and I would submit the professor (whose views I often disagree with) works harder at blogging that 95 percent of the professors who publish inane drivel in law reviews.
You are of course free to draw your own conclusions.
After Cleese, Palin is my favorite Python.
Indeed, gotta love those liberal sardonic, witty Brits, especially John Cleese! :) who has "destroyed" mama grizzly on many occassions! :D
ok, not hard to do, but still ...
Question: if a Wisconsin restaurant came up with a "KloppenBurger", what would be in it?
Sesame seed bun, toasted
All beef patty
Swiss cheese
Lettuce
Tomato
13 seconds of creepy, blinking silence.
high public and media interest are a reason for a recount? Amazing.
Much of the complaint seems to indicate that Kloppendale, et al don't understand the difference between unofficial votes counts reported to the media the evening of the election and official vote counts done at a later time. One has to wonder how well this woman could interpret and understand the law in order to make a reasonable, intelligent ruling from the bench.
ScottM: only if there was a little old lady who kept asking "where's the beef"
"No one who works full time could devote the time necessary to keep this blog constantly updated."
Not true Sauly. You can be a prolific blogger and still have a full time job. Even two full time jobs.
You find the time if you find it interesting. And if other people like what you have to say and interact with it.
I think one of the main reason people attack the evil blogger lady is that they are jealous of her in one way or another. So they have to label her and attack her and stuff.
Saul: However, most of the commentators here continually bitch about government which is fine. However, it is goverment dollars that essentially subsidize this blog.
Nope. They don't.
But yours is a really stupid argument: "if you complain about government overreach, you can't use anything subsidized by it.
Like the internet.
And plastics.
Duh.

You forgot to mention that the votes were found on Kathy Nickolaus' personal computer.
I don't get it. Althouse goes several hours between posts, and professors don't usually have a 9-5 schedule.
In fact, every law professor I know who was actually good was also working as an attorney.
They don't have to work 80 hours a week. It's a supply and demand thing. This fascist claim that she's cheating her university to blog is such a common claim against conservative bloggers who are professionals. LGF loves that one.
Saul:
How does your observation square with, I suspect, your belief that public schools need bigger budgets? If a law prof does not need new lesson plans from year to year, does an elementary school teacher?
The votes had been made and counted--the fact that they were on a PC does not negate the accuracy of the votes--The GAB (?) affirmed the accuracy of the votes cast--where the totals were stored seems irrelevant--but when you are grasping at straws---
Garage: Once the Dems committed to their respective numbers, she "found" the votes, and got around to reporting them to the AP.
The county totals were correct.
The AP reporting of them was not.
I've been warning people not to trust MSM Information Brokers any more than they would trust Enron.
The Incompetent Kloppenburg chose to trust AP. And Wisconsin will be paying millions for that mistake.

The position of County Clerk is an elective office; only the voters of Waukesha County can fire the County Clerk.
Don't tell anyone, but I bought imported non-Wisconsin cheese today. In my defense, it IS manchego, which is fabulous.
Trooper, I think people are p-oed at Althouse because of the lack of Idol blogging. I mean really -- last night was great, and not a mention!
Reg: All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
Attendee: Brought peace?
Reg: Oh, peace - shut up!
Reg: There is not one of us who would not gladly suffer death to rid this country of the Romans once and for all.
Dissenter: Uh, well, one.
Reg: Oh, yeah, yeah, there's one. But otherwise, we're solid.

Trooper, I think people are p-oed at Althouse because of the lack of Idol blogging. I mean really -- last night was great, and not a mention!
A great night watching Idol is still worse than a bad day cleaning sewers and not quite as good as a mediocre day spent policing up roadkill.
"So my comment was in response to the complaint that Althouse is "taxpayer.""
didn't complain that Althouse is a taxpayer. I complained that you think Kloppenburg doesn't owe taxpayers an explanation for her use of their money, even though Kloppenburg is also a public servant.
It is pretty hilarious that you're so upset that a professor has a blog in her off time, as if such a hobby is remotely more time consuming than the hobbies of any mentally healthy adult, because, oh no, she earns money from the state. Somehow that means, to you, that this is a government funded blog. That is radically unfair, and yet you're treating Kloppenburg to the right to demand one million dollars without explaining her reasons completely. She said she needed a recount because of conservative bloggers. That's on her campaign site right now, and she said it in her speech. The taxpayers should know, and have asked, which bloggers exactly. That's legitimate.
You forgive the egregious and focus on the innocent. That's because you're not honest.
Sasdly she has out grown Idol blogger. I think she is too hoity toity these days.
It's a pity.
Sadly I don't know how to spell.
Well actually I just got a haircut so my powers are lessened right now.
More power to Ann for being like the majority of tenured law professors who get paid to do next to nothing. Except in Ann's case, it is on the Wisconsin dole, which cumulatively is more than the cost of any recount (which I oppose because there has never been a recount that has swung anything above about 1000 votes). I think they should pay law professors not to teach law, much like they pay farmers not to grow crops, so the number of attorneys are reduced.
Well actually I just got a haircut so my powers are lessened right now.
You've really got to watch that bitch, Delilah. Not only does she have a completely unlistenable, nationally syndicated radio show, she's in bed with the Philistines.
too hoity toity
All right, Mr. DeMille, AA is ready for her close-up ...
